It’s almost pitiful, really. Buck looks desperate, his jaw hanging open, and he’s sweating, flushed. He needs more. What kind of friend would Eddie be not to give it, not to give Buck what he needs? That’s how he rationalizes it. It’s something they do; Buck gives things to Eddie without him even knowing what he needs; help, a listening ear, just his company. Eddie tries to do the same. Sometimes he thinks they know each other better than they know themselves. What is this but a continuation of that dynamic?

“You’re cheating,” Buck accuses.
“I’m winning.” Eddie pants, looking far too smug.
“I’m—” Buck tries to tug his arms free from Eddie’s hold to no avail. How is Eddie so damn strong? “I’m letting you.”
“You’re letting me pin you down? Do you like getting your ass handed to you, Buck?”
Heat floods Buck’s gut. He does like getting his ass handed to him. Or—no, well… he likes being pinned, or thrown against walls, or–or floors. But that’s different. That’s a sex thing. This is definitely not a sex thing. This is a bro thing. They’re bro-wrestling. Bro-housing. This is the most platonic thing Buck’s done in his entire life. He doesn’t know why he’s sweating.
Channelling his inner carpet python, he gives a determined wriggle, but Eddie’s hands tighten around his wrists. The feeling sends a shock through Buck’s spinal column.
Oh no.
Eddie, breathless and beautiful above him, repeats, “Say uncle.”
Breath stuttering out of him, Buck freezes.
Use your head, Buck thinks. His dick twitches. Then, panicked, the big one.

Summary
Buck knows the 118 is his family. They have been with him through so much. But when everyone goes home, it is Buck left by himself.
Buck decides he wants to change that. He decides that he wants to create his own family. One that doesn’t leave. One that stays.
So Buck adopts a dog.
But that leads to some jealousy from the Diaz family as they feel this dog is taking all of Buck’s time.

Summary
Maddie steps through the door to Buck's bedroom, ready to take her turn at his bedside, and it isn't a surprise, the scene she's confronted with, but it makes her breath catch all the same. Eddie is with him, on the bed instead of next to it, propped against the headboard, his long legs stretched out across the comforter and Buck curled underneath, his head pillowed on Eddie's chest.
Eddie raises his free hand, one finger to his lips, and Maddie comes closer as quietly as she can. Buck is sleeping, his hair sweaty against his pallid forehead, his cheeks flushed a hectic pink, but he looks peaceful, at last.
