Summary
Three years after the Dark Lord’s victory, the Order has been hunted, dissidents punished, and resistance all but eradicated. Death Eaters run the ministry, the law enforcement offices, and the courts, and have recently turned their attention to enforcing the new order by bludgeoning the wizarding population with legislation. Subtly, of course. To manage the flood of decrees, the Death Eaters have enlisted their old allies, and former defence attorneys, at the Spector & Flint law firm.
Among its staff is Callista Carrow; relative to infamously incompetent Death Eaters, fatally effective lawyer by profession, and now, cornered into proving her loyalty to a regime she privately despises. Or doesn’t? At least, not yet.
And if every new ministry-issued memo that finds its way to her desk ends up leading her into the path of one ruinously handsome Death Eater after another? Well, there’s not much more she can do about that, but try not to get burned too badly.
