    Summary

The memories of the Melting wouldn’t leave her, and neither did the grief. Glinda tried everything she could to fall asleep: switching rooms, rubbing lavender lotion on her hands, even drinking a foul tasting concoction that one of her handmaidens swore would put her to sleep as soon as her head hit the pillow (it didn’t). And even when she did manage to fall asleep sometime just before dawn, Elphaba’s screams jarred her awake.

So one night Glinda found herself sitting at the desk in her study with a blank sheet of paper in front of her. Dear Elphaba, she wrote, and then watched the words waver at the top of the page. She crossed them out and started over. Dearest Elphaba . It was ridiculous. Elphaba would never read her words again. But she found that they came anyway, faster than she could commit them to paper.

Or: Glinda begins writing letters to Elphaba in the aftermath of the Melting. When she pushes herself beyond the point of exhaustion four years later, Chistery decides to take matters into his own hands and deliver the letters to Elphaba in an attempt to save Glinda's life.

    Summary

Glinda was still trying to hold Elphaba tighter. And tighter. And tighter. She felt this inexplicable anxiety in regards to Elphaba escaping through her fingers like warm sand. Vaporizing. Like she used to do in her dreams whenever Glinda reached out to touch her. In those recurrent dreams, Glinda had learned to keep her distance from Elphaba. That way, she didn’t vaporize. That way, Glinda was able to enjoy the sight of her for many seconds. The blonde actually thought about keeping her distance just now, because Elphaba very much could vaporize again. She was good at it. But, before Glinda could tell her own body not to, she was already closing her eyes and taking the leap. And it was so worth the risk!

**Sequel to You'd have to stop the world (just to stop the feeling)**

“We’re getting pretty good at this ‘being normal parents’ thing aren’t we?” Glinda smiled, placing a soft kiss against Elphaba’s neck.

“I would say we are above average.” Elphaba nodded, resting her arm around Glinda’s waist.

“You know we should do that one thing we truly excel at after we put the kids to bed tonight.” Glinda purred. “Maybe start trying for the next one.”

OR: Glinda and Elphaba navigate being parents while dealing with major threats lurking around the corner
