Summary
Taichi returned. A battle was won. In the aftermath, scars - physical, emotional and psychological - remain. Taichi can't close his eyes without seeing red flashes, shirts soaked in blood, and hearing "dream big". Yamato feels ill and empty every time Taichi leaves his sight, desperate to hold on to what easily could have been lost. How exactly does one move on with their lives knowing all that was sacrificed in order to save the world a third time? Maybe Courage and Friendship can't overcome all demons....

Summary
It's July 2013. One minute, snow is hitting his face. The next, Taichi blinks and the world is suddenly brighter.
Blinking, Taichi sits up, rubbing at his temple, staring at a long path of lush green trees, framing a sky of scatted vibrant blues, and luminous pinks and oranges and reds. He blinks. A couple dozen times.
This can’t be right.
His surroundings are unsettling. Not because the scene is unfamiliar but for precisely the opposite reason: it’s so very familiar. It feels as if he’s been wrenched out of his life and catapulted back into a memory.

Because something has shifted. They’ve always felt like they were on the same wavelength; until lately, that is. Something about Taichi has felt instinctual. With Taichi, Yamato’s felt energized, invincible, and complete. It’s always felt so much like they’re woven from the same cloth, like they exist on the same frequency, and like they’re energies are compatible. Their souls have been linked, ever since the first time they combined to form Omegamon. And Yamato’s always been able to feel him, sense him, know him in completely inexplicable ways.
And now, it feels like that link has been cruelly severed.

“Can’t keep the delegates waiting,” Yamato chides him.
“You monster,” Taichi complains and Yamato smirks at him.
“Oh - and the front? Very little left to the imagination,” Yamato adds, and with that he tucks his shirt back in, straightens his tie and backs out of the room, winking at Taichi as he does.
