I can be very cooperative, Phainon thinks, wildly, when Anaxa props his head on one delicate hand, because that’s better than thinking over that single word, sounding so wild on his lips.
Mine.Captain Phainon, a name that would strike fear in any sailor, commander of the revered Chrysos and her crew, scourge of the seas; a man who's never been known to face defeat or run from a challenge.
So it's strange, when a simple fishing trip ends with him facing his death in the depths of the ocean. Stranger still when the most ethereal thing he's ever seen saves him instead, with claws a little too eager to keep him submerged beneath the waves forevermore.
Not that he'd mind.
