“Izuku,” Katsuki finally speaks again. “Are you okay?”
No, he thinks. The embers are dying. Everyone already gave up so much for nothing, and I'm going to lose even more. I'm going to lose everything soon.
“I just thought we'd be chasing after each other for the rest of our lives,” Katsuki had said; had practically begged, back at the hospital in Izuku’s room.
I'll never be able to keep up with the dream you imagined for us, Izuku’s brain supplies, miserably.
“Yes,” is what Izuku says instead. “I'm okay, Kacchan.”
-The war has ended, All For One has been defeated, and Izuku is left Quirkless again.
Everyone tries to heal, and Izuku does his best to pick up the pieces of those who fall apart in the aftermath.
Izuku also does his best to ignore all the parts of himself shattering along the way.
