Wen Yuan grew up in the Burial Mounds and has never really known anything else until the day he sneaks out. He takes the secret stash of letters that Wei Wuxian wrote to Lan Wangji and makes his way alone to Gusu, determined to deliver the letters. As he tries to climb over the wall and into the Cloud Recesses he's stopped by Lan Jingyi. Wen Yuan has to think quick and convince Lan Jingyi to help rather than to hinder him.

“You should take a few days for yourselves,” Lan Xichen says again. His cheeks are pink now. “You and Wangji.”
“Zewu-jun, I feel very stupid, but I have no idea what you mean. I’m sure it’s only something wrong with my stomach; I’ll be better in a few hours. Lan Zhan can stay here and I’ll be fine on my own.”
Lan Xichen stares at him long enough for Wei Wuxian to see the realization crash into his eyes. “Oh! Oh, Wuxian, you don’t mean this is—is your first—?”
Wei Wuxian blinks at him.
“Wuxian,” Lan Xichen repeats, his voice softening. His cheeks are still pink, but his expression is calm and kind as he explains, “You’re going into heat.”
Very intelligently, Wei Wuxian says, “What.”

He hid his face against the bedding, baring his neck, the motion letting his braided hair slip over his right shoulder and exposing him fully to Wei Ying's gaze. He had nothing to hide. Wei Ying knew every part of his body, and he had never felt safer - or more seen - than when he was sheltered in the light of Wei Ying's love.

Summary
Wei Wuxian flaps his wings and lifts off the pile of clothes he slept on. Then he flies over to where Lan Qiren is taking in the sight of the burned-out array on the floor, stroking his beard and murmuring something that suspiciously sounds like "the boy is too smart to blow himself up like this."
Once he's back to being human, Wei Wuxian will never let Lan Qiren live down this back-handed compliment. He decides then and there that he will have a plaque made, one reading "Wei Wuxian is too smart to blow himself up. - Lan Qiren," and hang it up in Lan Zhan's office, where his uncle will have to see it every single time he comes to visit his nephew to talk about sect matters.
OR: Wei Wuxian turns into a bee and his future Uncle-In-Law Lan Qiren comes to the rescue.

“So you had Huaisang make you a sexbot that looks exactly like you?” Lan Zhan asks, and even though Wei Ying has gotten very good at reading Lan Zhan’s expressions, he doesn’t really understand why Lan Zhan looks so exasperated.
“Well, not exactly. He doesn’t have my mole, see?”

Wei Ying brings home a dom sexbot and asks Lan Zhan to help him test it out. It doesn't take long for him to realise that he may be in way over his head.
