Summary
Patterns and echoes of what she knew was supposed to happen - she could see them everywhere. She was what was wrong in the picture, the thing that shifted everything and caused devastating changes, and yet even then the weave of history showed a similar image to what she had expected.
Being reincarnated into the body of an Elf, growing up in Rivendell, it had always sounded like a dream to her. It was both a dream and a nightmare. Love and grief were inseperable for her, even when she was surrounded by people who were supposed to be immortal. The future loomed menacingly ahead, promising war, love, and even more loss.
She didn't want it. She wanted freedom to choose her own fate, and she wanted the freedom to explore Middle-earth.
What would you do with three thousand years? Well, she certainly wasn't going to spend them sitting in Rivendell. -

Summary
Both Maedhros and Odysseus live in worlds born of song, though only Maedhros is aware of it.
Both Maedhros and Odysseus are standing in the wreckage of the cities they've burned, facing the fact they may be responsible for the deaths of children they'd give anything to save.
For just a moment, the songs of their worlds are nearly identical, and something - shifts.
(Or: One moment, Maedhros is in the woods of Doriath. The next moment, he finds himself in Troy.)
