“Oh…” Dazai trailed off trying to recall what he even looked like. “My father picked him out for me.”
“Huh? So you weren’t even into him?”
“I’d only just met him. I wasn’t into anything. He's the same as everyone else my father picks.”
“And you never choose for yourself?”
“No, I’ve never been particularly interested in any of them.”
Chuuya shook her head disbelievingly and huffed. When she was amused, the left side of her mouth would twitch revealing a small dimple.
“What?” Dazai inquired.
“It’s just… If that’s the case are you sure you even like guys?”
Dazai’s mouth worked to form words from an idea her mind hadn’t yet grappled with.

Summary
Leaning forward, Ranpo’s gaze opened, striking Chuuya far deeper than he ever liked—gods, how he hated Ranpo’s probing stare.
“‘Zai was captured on his last assignment. Mori handed me the task to handle it,” he blandly stated, expression blanketed by a sheet Chuuya couldn’t see through.
Not that he could right then, in any case. His hands cramping made him realize how tightly he’d been gripping his own arms, bruises surely lining his skin now.
(Or, Chuuya is forced into a mission with Ranpo, and it is entirely Dazai's fault)

Summary
For over one hundred years, Dazai has lived in a time loop. No matter what he said or did, Dazai would wake up, sixteen years old, and then die tragically at some point before his eighteen birthday. He was doomed to this fate, and after so many decades of trying to fight it, he'd long since given up. There was no resisting time and no hope for a future. He would idly spend his days repeating the same events for the same two years until the end of time.
That is until something new reared its head, shattering the repetitive nature of his life. An unexpected friendship that had never even come close to existing in previous loops suddenly formed. However, Dazai wouldn't believe this new event could change anything. Hope for an escape from his fate had died in him long ago.
After all, there's no way one little relationship could cause a domino effect that would eventually lead to the unraveling of the time loop, a discovery of the existence of gods, the resurfacing of long forgotten legends and curses, or the (barely avoided) destruction of the whole world, right?
On second thought, maybe it could.
