“What?” He replies, pulling the cigarette from his lips and lightly blowing the smoke from his mouth. “Just because my dad is the pastor, you think I can’t enjoy a cigarette?

When he meets Mike Wheeler, the pastor’s son, he realizes there is more to life than just fearing God, and it’s much scarier.

He wants Mike to look at him like this — eyes hooded, gaze unwavering, closer than Will lets them get when they’re sober — so instead of turning away like he normally would, like he should, he turns onto his side until he and Mike are facing each other, heads and feet curving towards each other.
“Cool,” Will says, and Mike’s foot slips between his calves, and Will’s shorts are beginning to chafe more than they were before.
will and mike decide to get high on the hill outside hawkins. will was not expecting them to have sex, but here they are. he's not exactly disappointed, but he's also not sure what it means to mike.
