Summary
In 1874, the Targaryens live on a ranch called Red Keep in the Wild West. Folks around here know them for their ethereal beauty and their Dragons, untamable horses swift as prairie wind and loyal only to Targaryen hands. Valarr and Aerion are two young cowboys bound to that legacy. When the rest of the family rides out to town one day, they are left alone with one rare night to themselves.
"Love... go change. Please," Valarr rasped. His thumb brushed gently over Aerion's swollen red lips. "Put some clothes on and get decent, or I swear the last thing you'll be able to ride is me."

Summary
“A hedge knight?” Valarr continues, the title dripping with scorn. He shakes his head, a single, slow motion of pity. “Oh Aerion. A hedge knight. A common, tall oaf who probably still sleeps in his armor. You let that…that…into you? You let him knot you?”
The last word is a hiss, sharp, and personal. Valarr’s own alpha scent, usually a calm, pine-forest musk spikes with something darker—frustration, a sting of possessive jealousy, and the cold hard calculus of a political mind.

Summary
The air is stale and heavy.
Its the first thing Aerion notices as he steps into Valarr's apartment, letting the door shut quietly behind him and blinking into the dark of the sitting room. The sofa is empty, as is the kitchen when he glances into it, and he eyes the papers and takeout containers strewn about with increasingly reluctant concern.
"Hello?" He calls out, and his own voice echoes back at him in a faint ring. Aerion winces, toeing off his shoes and kicking them in the vague direction of the door.

Summary
"I have nothing to entertain you with." Valarr's words cut off whatever else it was Aerion had to say. Relishing the way his teeth snapped together at being interrupted. Hoping it managed to annoy him even a little compared to how he had been acting today.
When he looked up, Valarr stilled. Violet eyes looked nearly black in the soft light, suddenly thankful that Aerion had come when the fires were still fresh and bright. The thought of waking up to that sight in the near dark had something racing up his spine; an electric fear that seemed to seep through his muscles, slow and almost pleasant, the longer his cousin watched him.
Then Aerion smiled once more. Too tight. Too forced. One that barely reached his eyes, as rare as that was. Each slow step brought him closer, and Valarr sighed, feigning annoyance as he looked for the book he had just placed down. Using the moment to check for his belt, his knife, just in case it was needed.

Summary
History remembers the crown, but it forgets the cost. While the annals laud King Valarr I Targaryen as the savior of his dynasty, they remain conspicuously silent on his private dealings with Prince Aerion Brightflame.
History, as it happens, was being diplomatic. Because the truth is far less noble.
— Attributed to a Maester of the Citadel. Final folio containing the author’s name and seal is missing. Circa 241 AC.
