“I apologize, but you need to undress,” Jing Yuan says. He keeps his hands behind his back like he’s afraid of them jumping out somehow.
Blade doesn’t think of the implications; that the person in front of him, someone who is practically a stranger, requested of him something so uncouth. There was a point of living where shame no longer mattered. He only wishes the stench of iron and the clumps of blood clinging to his every crevice would dissipate.
Even if Blade tried to undress, his hands wouldn’t let him. Nerves lay forever damaged in his fingers, causing his numb hands to shake and feebly grasp at the stained fabrics around his chest. The weight of seven centuries engulfs him in its exhausting embrace.
“Help me, then,” Blade requests.
Blade gives Jing Yuan an unconventional visit after a mission gone wrong. Remembering too much or nothing at all— what is worse?

Jing Yuan pauses, electricity running up and down his spine because there is something different in the way Dan Heng holds himself. It’s the sternness in his lips, the tension in his shoulders, the rigidness of his form.
“I see you still speak as if every sentence must add something of profound value,” Dan Heng says.
Jing Yuan is thrown back in time.

Summary
If you were to ask Dan Heng what kinds of things he is good at, the answer you would receive would be a rather short list.
He's good at archiving. He's good at guarding. He may consider himself fine at Trailblazing, if that was the sort of thing Dan Heng thought one could be 'good' or 'bad' at.
Nowhere on such a list would the words 'love' or 'friendship' or even 'care' ever appear. These are not things he has ever been good at, or even really tried, at least before a certain red-haired navigator turned his entire life around with a few simple words. So why in all the stars would he ever think to learn about 'love languages'?
OR: 5 times the crew tries to figure out the best way to love Dan Heng, and 1 time they succeed in figuring out that Dan Heng just needs to be loved.

“Dan Heng! We’re going on a date!” March 7th claims as she slides the door to his room wide open.
The young man barely lifts his head to look at her. He is sitting at his desk, a book in hand, like the big nerd he is.
“March,” he greets her. March 7th has long given up the idea of making him call her her full name. “How can I help you?”
“We’re going on a date,” she repeats since he doesn’t seem to have heard her properly the first time. “Just you and me.”
March 7th hatches a foolproof plan in order to learn more about Dan Heng.
(this story happens shortly after march has joined the crew, before they found the trailblazer on the herta space station. it happens in the same timeline as the previous work in this series, but can be read completely independently!)
