"Are you aware you've hired a degenerate?" Beidou hisses. "She's spoken to me about your figure, about your attire, even how you look while exiting the bath! Does it not bother you?"
"Why do you ask? Does it bother you?" Ningguang asks slowly, almost tauntingly.
Beidou snaps her mouth shut and leans heavily back in the seat. Ningguang hadn't realized that she had tilted forward until the weighty movement. "Of course not. I have no claim or vested interest in the matter, no?"
She hums. "I suppose you do not. What do you suggest I do, then? Fire her? Find another person who is devoted enough to me that I can trust them with the goings-on of the Jade Chamber?"
A muscle ticks in Beidou's jaw. "If it's devotion you want, then you don't need to look much further," she says heatedly.
After an injury, Ningguang invites Beidou into the Jade Chamber to recuperate. Beidou doesn't leave. Ningguang doesn't kick her out.

Ningguang looks at Beidou as if she was the stupidest, most idiotic, least capable person in the entirety of Teyvat — and in all honesty, it wouldn’t be an unfair assumption.
Beidou merely smiles back, scratching the top of her head where a pair of furry ears sit; just behind her, a fluffy tail the colour of her hair has grown from her tailbone, the length of it wagging back and forth behind her back.
“Mm, yeah,” Beidou shrugs, “You got a way to help?”---
Captain Beidou brings home a mysterious, magical potion and... drinks it. Unfortunately for Ningguang, Beidou likes making her own problems the former's issues too.

After their tumble through the bedsheets, as it were, Beidou says with bated breath, “I wish to court you, Ningguang.”
Faint laughter, notes linked and glued together with sleep, nuzzle into Beidou’s shoulder, filling her heart with so much warmth. The fragrance of their shared cups of wine lingers in the air. Beidou can already hear the complaints come morning.
“We are a few paces past that, wouldn’t you say, my Captain?”
