"I don't like girls."
The second those words left Will's mouth, something in his chest shifted — like a lock finally clicked open after years of being forced to stay closed. He'd known. Somewhere deep down, he'd always known. But hearing it said out loud made it feel real. Real in a way where he couldn't shove it aside anymore, he couldn't explain it away with dumb logic. Because if Will didn't like girls… then Mike had to face the truth he's been keeping deep down inside him for years.
or: Mike finally stops ignoring his feelings after will came out to everyone, has a panic attack, talks to Vickie, finally learns to accepts himself and gets the damn boy in the end. (+Jealous mike but he's dumb so)

Summary
The first time it happens, Will classifies it as a little accident.
When he wakes, the morning sun is burning through the window onto their faces, and Mike’s cursing as he stands to close the curtains, stumbling all the way.
“Scoot over,” he grumbles, voice dry, and for a second Will can’t do anything other than sigh like a lovesick idiot. It’s a second too late for Mike, because he grumbles more words Will doesn’t catch under his breath and then physically pushes Will towards the wall to lay beside him, arm over Will’s middle. A second of silence passes, then Mike sighs, only to whine: “Fuck, my head hurts.”
Will can’t help it: he breaks down laughing, much to Mike’s offense.

Summary
It takes a long time for worlds to collide, Mike realizes.
Long enough that the minutes bleed into one another. Long enough that his ariways have grown accustomed to the mystery particles despite being in the Upside Down for the first (technically second) time. And it is certainly, certainly, enough time for Mike to…think---if you can call the sudden onslaught of recontextualized memories, the subsequent epiphanies, and vivid catastrophizations "thinking". Nonetheless, the limbo between certain death and not so certain life he and the party have found themselves in has given Mike enough time to adjust to the absolutely groundbreaking information he learned, or was rather spoonfed, not more than an hour ago.

Will is…
It takes a long time for worlds to collide, yes, but Mike realizes his already has. His worlds have collided in the most spectacular fashion, and it's brought about by the most simple, and equally heartbreaking sentence.

“I should’ve been first,” Mike said.
“What?” Will asked.
Mike balled his hands into fists. “I should have been the first person to tell you that you weren’t gonna lose me.”
Will laughed. He couldn’t help it. This was what Mike was so upset about. What a damn perfectionist. Mike was so kind, he cared about Will so much that he couldn’t stand to think anyone else might act more supportive than him.

“Before Mom?” Will challenged. “And my brother?”
“No! No, obviously, they would tell you first but I should have been third. At least third!” Mike pouted. He actually, honest to God, pouted.***
