Summary
Jensen, still grief-stricken over the death of his husband, has been restless and moving around frequently since then. He tells himself he has been looking for a place to settle down, but in reality, he is running away from his memories, trying to forget his past. A new job lures him to Moose Lake, Minnesota, where he meets Jared who is living in a rundown trailer on an unkempt property with his dog. Jared is an enigma, living an isolated life. He is shy, socially awkward, and obviously ill and unkempt. His financial situation is precarious and his living conditions appalling. Jared has already suffered more losses and battled more life-threatening health issues than most people do in their entire lifetimes. He is insecure, lonely, and vulnerable, burdened with guilt and shame from his past experiences. Despite Jared’s appearance and circumstances, Jensen is inexplicably drawn to him and slowly gains his trust. This seemingly unlikely pair develops a deep, irrefutable, and undeniable bond. Together, they learn to let go, forgive, ask for, and receive help to heal. Most importantly, they learn that it only takes one person to change your whole world for the better if you follow your heart.
