Glinda doesn’t answer, instead she wraps her arms around Elphaba’s shoulders and they share a hug so fierce Elphaba is sure she’ll have the imprints of Glinda’s hands on her for the rest of her days.

Glinda leans forward and — oh, soft, pink lips are on Elphaba’s. Her brain short circuits for a moment, unable to function. Glinda pulls away with a start, and it’s the panic in her eyes that jumps Elphaba back into motion.
...in which Glinda gets on the train and they spend one short day in the Emerald City together before meeting the Wizard.
