He was even starting to like the scent of sunscreen that lingered from when they had used it earlier. Summary
For almost a decade now, Nico has been running. Moving from place to place, chasing after some bounty or other, never once settling long enough to call anywhere home. And throughout those many years traversing through the lands of the West, he's met many men. Some of whom he's taken to bed with him. Despite his lonely way of life, Nico is no stranger to the song and dance of intimate exchanges.
But in those years, he's learned to pick his lovers carefully. He looks for men who leave before the sun rises in the morning, the ones who don't even bother with a farewell.
He's been living this way for so long, interacting with so many of these kinds of men that Nico has become very familiar with the type by now; silent, dark-haired, stony-eyed. Rough and rugged as any cowboy is supposed to be. The kind of lover who seems almost ashamed of their pleasure, who grit their teeth and bite their tongues to force back the sounds that result from Nico's steady hands and mouth.
But Will Solace isn't like any cowboy that Nico's ever met before. Not by a long shot.

Summary
Will Solace has hair like spun sunlight—long, golden, impossible not to notice. Nico can’t help but watch as Piper and an Aphrodite girl (with a very obvious crush) take turns braiding flowers into Will’s hair by the campfire, laughing under the stars while Will just smiles, oblivious and beautiful. Nico knows he’s the reason their relationship is a secret—he’s not ready for the world to know, not yet—but that doesn’t make the jealousy any easier to swallow.
Determined to claim his own small piece of sunlight, Nico enlists Piper’s help, learning to braid through trial, error, and a few accidental knots. Maybe if he’s the one weaving love into Will’s hair, he’ll finally believe he belongs at Will’s side—out in the open, golden and real, where everyone can see.
