The tips of her fingers were turning black, and her hands seemed to be growing paler. Barely a breath away from hyperventilating, she gathered all her courage and met her own gaze in the mirror.
That fateful day on the train came rushing back to her at the same time as the words she had heard so often, over and over again.
“That anomaly is named ‘Kyklos.’ It reproduces by cursing humans. In one years’ time, you’ll transform into the same anomaly that cursed you.”
But it hadn’t been a year. It hadn’t even been half of that time. And yet, a slightly-less-evolved version of the monster that had changed her life was looking back at her. Nothing had been wrong when she fell asleep. Just how fast was her body changing into something no more human than any of the Ghouls she surrounded herself with?
At the thought, she froze, eyes widening.
