    The dragon keeps her distance this time, not daring to approach Caitlyn again. The prince dares only a few more steps into the clearing, grass tickling the edges of her knees. The dragon lowers her head, steel eyes narrowed. But… not threatening. Caitlyn can hardly breathe at the sight of them again.

    “It’s you,” Caitlyn hears herself whisper as she crouches in the tall grass. The dragon chuffs, nostrils flaring with a low rumbling sound. She can see the way the muscles tense even from here a whole clearing away.

    They sit there, unmoving with a sea of wild grass between them until the sound of another pair of wings whooshing high above startles them both. Caitlyn doesn’t move, heart thrumming as she waits for the moment to turn, for the dragon to remember herself and end Caitlyn once and for all. Or for her companion to land and finish the job. But instead, red wings take to the skies again, the clouds swallowing her whole.

    Caitlyn pauses, turning to look at Vi over her shoulder with those heart-stopping eyes. Vi doesn’t know if she wants to coddle her or take a bite out of her. It’s like cuteness aggression but hornier. Caitlyn blinks, mouth twisting like she doesn’t know if she wants to frown or smile.
    “Do you…have a car?” she asks, peering around like Vi has a vehicle hidden behind a nearby tree. Vi laughs.
    “I’m the ride, cupcake.”

    What do you call it when you’ve spent years protecting New York as everyone’s favorite masked vigilante and suddenly find yourself caught between your growing attraction to the Police Commissioner’s daughter and your loyalty to your estranged sister, who just so happens to have whacked a corrupt billionaire in a high profile case that’s tearing the city apart?
    Some would call it getting caught between a rock and a hard place. Vi calls it Tuesday.

    Vi was surprised, nay, absolutely fucking floored when Caitlyn looked her in the eye and offered, “If you strike out one night, you can just use me as a backup. I won’t tell.”

     

    Vi blinked at Caitlyn, the words ringing in her ears as she shook her head, clearly hearing things. “You mean like, to fake a hookup? I don’t think they’ll fall for that.”

     

    Caitlyn frowned, taking a sip of her coffee. “Why would we fake it?”

    Ekko challenges Vi to completing a perfect week, in which she has to sleep with the first woman she flirts with every night for a week straight. Cait offers to help her out if things go south. (Things go south.)

    Or, a 5 + 1 fic in which Cait gets jealous five times, and then turns the tables to make Vi jealous once.
