Summary
Will took in a breath as he turned to stare at the vine covered window. That was probably it. Mike probably decided to stop being an obvious idiot and finally understood what all the touches and glances were about. Finally understood what Will had been hiding for years, and was probably disgusted by it. Disgusted by the fact that Will had been taking advantage of their friendship, just to get closer to Mike, as if Mike could ever have the same feelings as him.
But he doesn’t, Will reminded himself. Mike is not like you, and that’s okay. It’s okay because you told everyone, and they all accepted you, and Mike is just your Tammy.
He’s just Tammy.

In this quiet, cramped corner of the Squawk’s basement, Mike finds Will just out of the shower. But he doesn’t notice how his shirt is half on, or how damp hair clings to his forehead, faintly scented with leftover soap.
Only the redness under his eyes.

Will thrashes out of his covers, and finds the cool metal of his flashlight on the floor next to him.
He pushes the button until his joints protest, and a noise is pulled from his throat that he hadn’t heard himself make in years.
Karen’s candle flickers on the table next to him. The flame is laughing at him. He’s sure of it.

Will is scared of the dark, and has a bad relationship with open flames. Mike tries, and Guy Gardener is there too- only, he is in the form of a glo-worm.

Summary
Will wishes desperately to feel something. Anything. His mother hugs him and it’s like he’s touching a mannequin. There’s hardly any warmth anymore. He remembers when his heart was unsteady, filled to the bursting by Mike falling asleep on his shoulder at movie night. He remembers looking forward to Dustin’s hugs, where the other boy would purposefully try to squeeze all of the air out of Will’s lungs. He remembers when Jonathan ruffled his hair and his whole body went liquid, trying to lean into his brother’s hand. Now everything means nothing. The house is noisy and Will is alone.
