Summary
An annoying little voice in her head, suspiciously reminiscent of a familiar white haired man, whispered, Mydei's obviously showing symptoms of pregnancy. He's done it, Phainon's defied biology, he's put a baby in him.
Hyacine rushed to say, “But you’ve been snacking a lot more, haven’t you? It can’t just be a regular disease, seeing as the nausea hasn't inhibited your appetite, but made it bigger.”
“So you agree then,” Mydei said, and a radiant grin erupted on his face as though Hyacine had just shared brilliant news. “It is something within my body.”
A few months after Hyacine thinks she is finally free from third-wheeling Phainon and Mydei, Mydei falls pregnant.

‘I swear I’ll find him,’ he can’t allow himself to finish, unable to make more empty promises. Gorgo’s nod is so small he barely sees it, the barest tilt of her chin. Hope slowly wilts from her gaze, turning from a mournful mother’s to a vengeful queen’s.
“One week,” she says. Her voice is clear-cut amongst the halls and the armored statues. He remembers her two decades ago, before she bore child, on the battlefield and surrounded by men who would die for her, Krateros being one of them — and he remembers the fear that crept up the whole world’s spine then. “Not a day more.”

Summary
“Lord Phainon has such a thick face,” Mydei hears in the Marmoreal Market one day.
He doesn’t turn, but he does tune out the hawking of the merchants some more to hone in on the conversation. Phainon is fairly fit, though, he ponders, half amused and half bemused, as he picks up a pomegranate. Surely if anything, his arms are thicker than his face?
Or, how Mydei tries to find something that makes Phainon blush.

Phainon sets out to find Mydei. What he actually finds is a pocket-sized chimera he falls head over heels in love with and naturally names Snowy. What follows is a suspicious amount of cooing, dubiously safe bonding activities, a minor head injury, and the creeping suspicion that maybe he’s been looking at the wrong place all along.
