Pat has barely turned his head around to look at them, before he hears a familiar gasp behind him.
The hair on the back of his neck springs up, and he feels the adrenaline rush into his veins as he turns around to face Pran.
Pran. Who is looking at him with wide eyes, disbelief, panic, frustration and so much more emotions that Pat feels himself choking up with it.
He thinks of what he thought he’d tell Pran. That he’s sorry, and that he wishes he was there in school with him. Or that Paa said hi.

When Pat finds out Pran's harmful little habit, he decides to help out. little did he know that with it came the new side of their relationship. With a sharp turn, their title for each other had changed to "friend" from "arch-nemesis".
From then on, it was obvious that Pat would learn to chose Pran over his family; chasing that warmth like it was his last resort of safety. Friendship turns to something much more dangerous and they make a choice and they learn to live with that.
Though somedays feels like goodbyes, they know that the end of the tunnel would find them together.
