The noise outside washes over Heeseung again. He can see the staff rushing in and knows they have only seconds before this moment runs out. Sunghoon’s loud singing bursts their small bubble, Jake’s resounding complaint filling up the rest of the space, even louder.
“For good luck,” Heeseung replies with a smile, watching Jay’s lips stretch into a matching one.

Summary
“I wonder what happened to you when I wasn't around,” Jay wonders out loud.
Sunghoon turns his hand, palm up, putting it right next to Jay's much smaller ones. He stays silent for a few seconds, then traces the lines on their palms, their heart lines that the palm reader pointed out connecting together like a river, side by side like this.
A minute without Jay feels like a lifetime, two lifetimes without him probably felt like the world had ended, twice.
Sunghoon looks up from their palms, meeting Jay’s curious eyes watching him fondly. Sunghoon doesn't understand how anyone can look at him like that, as if he's something precious and worthy.
“Probably waited for you."

Finally Jungwon admits with a small smile, "Maybe."
Wow, Heeseung thinks, Maybe? Jay doesn't deserve someone who is so half assed about him.
“I can see the face you’re making, hyung.”
Heeseung feels bad, embarrassed even, what the hell?
First of all, Heeseung is a very cool hyung who would never judge anything anyone does. Plus, Jungwon is his good friend and Jungwon would make a great lover, Heeseung is sure of that.
But Jay’s lover? No one will ever be enough for such a guy like Jay.
"What do you mean maybe?" Heeseung repeats lamely, a hint of judgement in his tone that they both ignore.
"Yeah, maybe I like him." Jungwon looks Heeseung straight in the eyes as he delivers the craziest line Heeseung has ever heard. "I think you like him more than me though, hyung."
And Heeseung's world stops in motion.

Heeseung has had nine years to practice, but he has never been able to resist Jongseong. Not completely. Probably not ever.

According to Murphy’s law, anything that can go wrong will go wrong. It can be applied in different ways under different circumstances.
Exhibit A: You’re running late to work and suddenly the traffic is much worse.
Exhibit B: Planning an outing, you plan a picnic and it rains.
Exhibit C: Jay walks up to stand in front of Heeseung and stares him down. Heeseung glances down when he hears a clinking sound to see Jay gripping a plastic filled with alcoholic drinks.
Heeseung sighs and finally makes eye contact with Jay. Looking closely at this pathetic version of Jay, Heeseung couldn’t even find it in him to be angry.

He reads the replies. The dates. The fans counting years like they were there for all of it – like they felt it the way he did.
Jay sets his phone down slowly.
