Summary
Sebastian and Alex used to be close friends in middle school, but as they got older they slowly grew a part. Sebastian hated this fact and blamed Alex's new found popularity for it. After both being sent to detention, Alex and his friends decide to get back at Sebastian by finding a way for Alex to fake date him to humiliate him later on. But what happens when the two start spending for time together and Alex starts to remember why they were ever friends in the first place?

Alex blinked, jaw tight, and let out a breathless, humorless laugh.
“You really wanted to get that one off your chest, huh?”
Sebastian said nothing. His expression faltered for the first time—something in it caught between regret and defensiveness, like he hadn’t meant to show his hand quite so much.
Then, quietly, he said, “Maybe if you stopped pretending to be someone you’re not, people would actually stick around.”
The words hit like a punch to the gut. They both knew exactly what he meant. And Alex—no matter how hard he tried, no matter how deep he buried it—couldn’t pretend otherwise.
A shaky breath escaped him. His fists clenched so tightly his knuckles went white.
“Go fuck yourself.”

Coriolanus Snow must be Panem University's model scholarship student. Disciplined. Polished. Controlled. He has no room for error, and especially not personal entanglements. Then, Sejanus Plinth walks into class after disappearing for the summer; cheerful, warm, and persistently sharing highlighters.
Coriolanus finds himself pulled into a dynamic he can't quite avoid. The line between strategy, friendship, and something else begins to blur.
