Chapter Text
“Saitama… There is something very important that I have to ask.
Saitama rose his brow at the question asked by his blonde friend. “What is it, King?”
“Why are you so popular with… very handsome men?”
Saitama gave a blank look before he replied. “I don’t know about that.”
King returned the look he gave and sighed in disbelief. “One second, you’ll see.”
Saitama did not have time to react when he suddenly heard the squeals of the many women in the cafeteria and the quite angry footsteps of the handsome blue haired man who happened to be his boss. He looked to acknowledge his presence as the latter stopped in front of him and glared at him with his icy stare. He sighed in defeat and silently regretted his life decisions with regards to this matter, because of HIM.
“Saitama, I told you to wait for me outside my classroom.” Amai Mask glowered.
In all honesty, he has already forgotten how he met this guy but all he knew was that they were classmates back in middle school, but he doesn’t remember when exactly. All he remembered about how he got acquainted with him was that 5 months ago, his parents’ got broke and they needed money so badly. Since Saitama was 16 back then, there were no jobs being offered to minors, except probably in a bar or club he guessed. He was already too tempted to sign up for the job that that gay clown was offering him when the handsome man showed up and offered him the bodyguard job.
He was grateful for Amai, alright, those were the times where he was really in a bad state. But he didn’t knew that the job he signed up for was taking good care of a princess who has done nothing but order him around like a dog. Damn money…
“Yeah, sorry I forgot.” He said as he stood up from his seat and allowed his ‘hime-sama’ to sit where he was sitting a while ago, totally oblivious to the blush that was adorned on the beautiful man’s face as Saitama held his delicate hands.
The loud pumping of King’s heart was then heard as many pairs of eyes were focused on them, and King isn’t happy by what those stares could mean. NOT AT ALL.
After some moments of the silent tension, Amai Mask coughed and looked up to face the bald man. “So… did you bought me what I asked for?”
Saitama blinked once, twice, thrice before he responded. “What?”
The glare on the hime-sama is back once again and that was the only time he remembered it. ‘Oh… the ballpen.’ “You didn’t gave me money so I didn’t.”
Amai Mask widened his eyes and blinked innocently. “Oh, is that so?” He then started looking for money in his wallet and handed it over to Saitama. “Here. Buy it, now.”
Saitama nodded as he took the money and went to get his wallet, planning to buy some food in the cafeteria before the time ends. “Yeah sure, but can’t I eat first?”
“Buy it, now.” Ouji-sama demanded with a low tone.
Saitama sighed in defeat as he walked away from them and many of the watchers laughed at the scene but much to their shock, Amai glared at them the moment the bald man has left the room, making all of them tremble at his superiority, even King.
That is why, when Amai faced him, he could swear that he pissed in his pants.
“So, King-san. Does he have any particular… romantic interest?”
But when that question was asked, he sighed in disbelief.
‘Really…Saitama…’
~~~~~
“I really hate that guy… he always destroys my day!”
Saitama hissed to himself as he stuffed his hands in his pockets and walked his way towards the semi-crowded corridor, his stomach grumbling from his apparent hunger.
‘I really should have eaten when King invited me to the cafeteria…’ He sighed.
He abruptly forgotten the fact that Amai had asked him to buy a spare ballpen during break time because King immediately grabbed his hand and dragged him straight to the eating area when lunchtime came. He was actually quite alarmed by his friend’s audacity knowing that King is really a timid guy, so he was shocked that he became so brash. Heck, he received that scar from his left eye after being scratched by a cat. Saitama could clearly remember saving the guy before he was scarred himself.
Too bad, the scars that stupid cat inflicted on him are gone now.
Ever since he got bald, which was just half a year ago, his life changed drastically. HE trained so hard for the last three years of his life and he got so strong that he got bald because of it. His little brother, Dotei has been teasing him about his sudden hair loss but occasionally offered the proposition of a hair transplant if he figures out how to do it, though Saitama really doubts that a 10 year old child can do that. Also, another factor of why the kid can’t do it is because they do not have money, since his father got fired from his job because of something that has to do with the word “contract”.
First and foremost, a weird rich model, who had introduced himself as his classmate back in middle school, offered him the bodyguard job. Yeah… sure, King was right that Amai is handsome. Heck, he can’t even compare to that guy’s manly beauty, although it is starting to look quite womanly because he’s too beautiful. You know…
But even though Amai was kind enough to offer him a job with a very fair salary, he still hates the fact that he gets ordered around all the fucking time, for about 12 hours a day. Meaning: He can’t go home and sleep unless Amai is asleep. Even though he wants to eat, this man can dictate to him that apparently buying that stupid G-tech is much more important than filling up his belly so that he can work properly.
He sighed in defeat. He really wants to quit right now…
As his mind is still wrapped up the problem, a certain raven haired ninja sneaked behind him and tried to pull a stunt, but Saitama’s sixth sense told him that something was about to attack him. So he raised his hand and grabbed the slender arm of someone who was holding a small knife. He heard a grunt as he turned to face him.
“Oi, Panic. Don’t play with that thing, it’s dangerous.” He said as he took the knife.
The man, who was called Panic, slightly widened his eyes at the fast movement that his eyes weren’t able to see but was irritated when Saitama, for the umpteenth time, had forgotten what his name is.
“You dolt, it’s Sonic! Speed of Sound, Sonic!”
Saitama once again sighed. This guy is another one of those changes that happened in his life, especially since he just popped out of nowhere at all…
He didn’t really mean to insult Sonic, he just didn’t want to see Mumen all beat up.
The first remarkable memory he had with Sonic was that one time where he got involved in a fight he never really want to be part of. He forgot what exactly he was doing back then, maybe he’s looking for a job but he really isn’t sure about that. All he could remember was King running towards him panting, as if he was being chased by a dog and then the said friend informed him that Mumen got into a fight for protecting a guy named Jammerbead. Being the hero he is, he went right away.
In all honesty, when he and King arrived, he didn’t liked what he saw.
The poor guy was badly beaten on the ground, blood covering what was supposed to be a waxed tiled floor and his face battered due to the many beatings he has received. But what hurt Saitama the most was when the irritating ninja stepped on Mumen’s face too hard that it slipped and broke the very expensive glasses that he just got.
Gritting his teeth in irritation, he challenged Sonic (actually it is more like he stepped forward and the ninja attacked him then he was challenged because he managed to dodge it) and much to his chagrin, he punched the guy in the balls and the poor ninja was not able to walk as a result. Even though it was Sonic’s fault to begin with, he carried the guy to the clinic (bridal style) while Mumen was carried in a stretcher.
Ever since then, Sonic did not disturb anyone but him, as he was the “rival”.
Saitama sighed in disbelief at that thought. He never wanted any of this…
“Right, Sanic. Don’t you have anything else to do aside from bothering me?”
The said ninja grunted in response and folded his hands as he snarled at Saitama, although a blush adorned his face. “I will not give up trying to kill you, Bakatama!”
Saitama rolled his eyes and went passed him, ignoring all of his banters as he made his way towards the bookstore. As he reached the end of the hallway and was only 12 meters away from the store, he briefly heard Sonic huff as he threw something in Saitama’s head but the bald teenager was able to catch it smoothly and was startled to feel the soft square item that was packed inside a Ziplock. Saitama slowly brought the thing to his face and blinked many times before realizing that it is a sandwich.
He slowly faced the ninja and dumbly asked. “Sonic, what will I do with this?”
Sonic visibly reddened like a ripe tomato and furrowed his eyes in irritation, but Saitama isn’t sure what how he should see Sonic’s actions. “Eat it of course, Bakatama! Your stomach has been growling at me for the last five minutes since you refused to acknowledge my presence! I thought you will if… you eat something!”
Saitama looked down at the sandwich (it's grilled cheese, his favorite!) and gave Sonic a small smile. “Thanks, dude. I never knew you actually have a soft side despite…”
The bald teenager probably expected Sonic to stop bothering him or to warm up to him (which would really get awkward for the two of them given how they first met) but he was half glad when the latter threw a dozen of knives at different supposedly vulnerable parts of his body, which he was flawlessly able to avoid due to his speed.
“Don’t get the wrong idea, jackass. I just need to make sure that you are in perfect shape when I battled you to my utmost potential. I swore to the name of my ninja clan that I shall be your rival and bring an end to your very existence, Saitama Hiroto!”
Saitama sighed as he heard the last of Sonic (at least for the day) when the latter turned away from him and ran with the speed of a thousand cheetahs combined and left the poor bald teen alone with his sandwich. He sighed in disbelief at what just occurred and shook it away into oblivion. He really has to buy that ballpen, after all…
Satisfied in the very least, he disobeyed the rule of no eating in the corridors as he constantly took a bite from the grilled cheese sandwich given to him (goddammit, it sure hell was good!) and was horrified beyond relief when he saw that the line was as long as a giraffe’s neck. Great, he really does have the best of luck of all people…
Grumbling to himself as he finished the sandwich by the end of the line, he felt a soft pat on his left shoulder and his anger vanished instantly as he faced the familiar guy who gave him the assuring gesture. “Mumen! Did you came to buy something too?”
Mumen made a timid laugh. “Ah… yes! The whiteboard marker in the classroom ran out of ink so… I was hoping to buy a refill, but I guess I’ll have to buy a new one…”
Mumen Rider is the currently elected president of their class (something that Saitama is really proud of) and even though he first met him as the shy type of guy, he was quite assertive when it came to participating in class activities. He’s not really that smart but his friendly attitude is really getting to everyone. Perhaps the only factor that remained from his previous self was that he is very much afraid to confront his feelings when it comes to this certain person. He and King are yet to figure it out but they are very sure that Mumen has a crush on someone, but he’s too shy to admit it.
How can he tell that? He’s been friends with Mumen for almost 10 years already.
He’s been friends with Mumen first before he actually got acquainted with King, as they were just children when he first saved Mumen. There were these bullies who had been trying to rob money from Mumen but instead of the cyclist getting the beating, he took it all for himself. Rider always felt guilty whenever they talked about it but he was already grateful that Mumen had the courage to actually treat him the first aid before sending him back to his home and get berated by his very anxious mother.
Well, past is past so he’s got nothing to worry about anymore. Besides, it’s not like he can get beaten up anymore. He’s already too strong to get that treatment. He’s really just glad that his friend grew up to have many friends and not get hated by many. It’s not like Saitama’s getting hated by many but… it’s actually more like ignored. Well, it’s not like anyone in the right mind would believe that this 17 year old bald guy is the strongest man on earth. Maybe if King were to say that some may still believe…
Saitama shook the thought away and Mumen seemed to notice the distress on his friend that he inquired about it. “And… I assume that Amai’s troubling you again?”
Saitama literally groaned upon hearing the god forsaken name and ranted about how irritating the said asshole is. If there is anyone, aside from King, who is willing to listen to his unending reasons to hate Amai Mask, that would be Mumen Rider.
“Oh, if only you know it! Geez, he won’t stop making my day worse than it already is! I mean, I was already in the cafeteria because King dragged me there as soon as the bell rang and we’re about to get some food when he just showed up out of nowhere and sat on his non existing throne! I was trying to be considerate, since I apparently promised to wait for him outside of his classroom but didn’t and I forgot to buy his ballpen. It’s okay, really, if he just allowed me to go get some food and eat it on my way here. But no! He kicked me out of the cafeteria and shamed me in front of many people. Sheesh, and just when I thought that he… Actually if it weren’t for Sonic’s-!”
“You haven’t eaten yet, Saitama?” Mumen Rider interrupted and Saitama stopped as he sheepishly scratched his head. “Just a sandwich Sonic gave to me, that’s all.”
There was a silence between the two of them for a moment or two as the line moved slowly. For some weird reason, instead of berating him for putting Amai first before his own health, Mumen turned away from Saitama with a shade of pink that dusted his face and mumbled something that Saitama was not able to hear at first.
“Oi, Mumen. Were you saying something?”
His best friend seemed startled by this as he jumped and fiddled with his fingers, wearing an expression that Saitama has never seen before. “Well, I…was just thinking… since you’re hungry and haven’t… eaten yet maybe we…..I can-!”
“Saitama-senpai!”
The two of them were startled by the cheerful call of his name (which was unfortunately branded by a title he never deserved) and the familiar blonde cyborg almost tripped himself as soon as he approached them but luckily Saitama was able to catch him, as well as the rectangular box wrapped in a pink cloth in his metal arms.
“Oi, Genos. You really need to be careful when you’re walking!” Saitama softly scolded his kouhai as he set the cyborg back to his feet and gently ruffled his messy hair. Genos only responded with a very sweet smile as he looked directly at Saitama’s eyes with a dreamy expression. “I’m sorry, Senpai. I’ll be more careful next time.”
Saitama wasn’t exactly sure when the ‘senpai’ thing started but all he remembered about Genos was that it was entirely his fault when it happened. The kid actually was pretty reckless himself, even though he’s one of the smartest people in the campus. They first met when Saitama was on a hurry (for reasons he has once again forgotten why) and he accidentally bumped Genos who was bringing his bento while running himself. The impact sent the cyborg on the ground and the bento box flying towards the wall and getting wasted when everything fell on the floor. Saitama could grimly remember how guilty he was to saw the broken look on Genos’ innocent face.
So, much to his chagrin, he was forced to treat Genos lunch and the kid bought something that was worth 3 weeks of his lunch money, which made his wallet cried a bucket of tears. But, in the very least, he was slightly glad when the latter paid for it by teaching him how to properly do his homeworks and answer his tests. IN fact, he actually wondered why in the fucking world is Genos calling him senpai, when he is the person who is supposed to call him senpai. Yeah, sure it’s probably due to the age gap, as Genos is three years younger than him but it really doesn’t matter, really.
Because Genos is actually ten times smarter than Saitama.
He had to hand it to Genos, for a guy who has accelerated two years and was a full scholar, he is really showing the world how much of a demon cyborg he is, a name that was secretly given to him by some of his classmates. He may be kind and gentle when talking to him but he really is a beast whenever his grades are at stake.
It really should be enough reason for Saitama to crawl up in his bed and die.
But that wasn’t really happening as he just nonchalantly accepted Genos in his life and treated him just like how he communicated with his other friends (it’s not like he has other friends aside from Mumen and King…) although he actually liked to think that Genos is more of a weird guy who has been attached to his hip since day one.
Saitama was then brought back to reality when the box wrapped in a pink cloth was lightly shoved at his chest and he looked down to with mild shock. “Saitama senpai, I made you a bento because I thought maybe you would like to taste how good I cook.”
“Woah, you went all out just for this, huh? Sure, we can eat it, but can’t it wait until after I buy a ballpen..?” Saitama was briefly aware that he was interrupted when Genos started shuffling through his pockets and handing over a very familiar ballpen.
“Were you going to buy a G-tech 3.0? I happen to have bought a spare… so…”
Saitama was mind blown for a second as he watched the cyborg wearing those big puppy eyes and he was so tempted to give in, if it were not for he fact that he is already halfway near. “Genos, we’re already in a line and besides, I am not in a rush.”
As if on cue, the blonde cyborg checked his watch and said with a rather serious tone. “We only have 15 minutes left before lunch time ends.” Saitama then widened his eyes in response and made the second check on the watch. “For real?!”
Genos nodded and when he confirmed that what Genos said is true, he sighed in defeat and almost mourned by the corner. “Damn… and I only ate a sandwich…”
He was then startled when someone cleared their throat and Saitama was suddenly reminded that Mumen is actually there with them, making him silently scold himself for being so caught up in his thoughts. “Well… there is no rule stating that you are not allowed to eat by the mushroom tables so… you can go and eat Genos’ bento while I wait in the line. You were just going to buy a G-tech 3.0, right? I won’t mind…”
Saitama subconsciously debated to accept the offer but his principles are telling him to decline. “Dude, no. I wait in the line with you. And you can’t change my mind.”
Mumen and Genos gave each other a glance and the cyborg smiled back to Saitama as he proposed his alternative solution. “Saitama senpai, I suggest that you may still eat while waiting in the line, although you will have to sit down so that the people inside the bookstore won’t notice. It would only make it seem like Mumen san is waiting while you are also waiting in the line. Is this proposition agreeable, Saitama senpai?”
To honestly say, Saitama didn’t catch at least half of what Genos said but he got the general idea and actually agreed to Genos’ logic. The bookstore is only small and there is only a list of what they sell and a small counter with only one cashier lady to accommodate the many students. Perhaps what Genos was asking him to hide underneath the counter table so that no authority will notice him eating.
“Nice, then let’s go check out what you’ve got there!”
Saitama sat down along with Genos as the cyborg unwrapped the box and presented a variety of food that is neatly presented inside the bento box. The bald teenager took a moment to marvel at the sight and when Genos handed over a pair of chopsticks, he did not hesitated tasting every single dish in it. He’s not a picky eater, after all.
“Woah, this is amazing Genos! You really do cook good food!”
Genos replied with a soft “Thank you.” as Saitama continued to stuff everything in his mouth and was not able to notice Genos’ chest glowing and the soft whirring of an engine that was loud enough for everyone in the line to hear. He also failed to notice Mumen’s genuine smile as the latter silently watched Saitama being contented while the line slowly moved. If there is anything they know that Saitama cannot turn a blind eye to, it’s free food. That is why, he was shocked when the bald teenager’s attention suddenly turned to him as he was ushered to have a taste of the bento made by Genos.
“Hey Mumen! You should taste these!”
Saitama reached out his chopsticks that were holding a salmon and Mumen was briefly reminded that Saitama took the tip of the chopsticks into his mouth as he ate the salmon. Mumen Rider was flushed by the sudden realization and Genos gritted his teeth as he glared using a thousand lasers at the cyclist. Then, not long after, roar of engines, angry footsteps and a flying shuriken were heard as Saitama slowly turned to face them. Instead of facing the said weapon, he saw Genos’ arm (which actually blocked the weapon from touching them) and a pissed off Sonic in front of him. He then did not waste time sitting there like an idiot as he stood up to face all of them.
“What the hell is going on?”
Genos and Sonic took a short time to acknowledge Saitama’s presence and before the two could say anything, a blue haired menace shoved Sonic to the side. Oh Saitama was so tempted to groan at the sight of Amai, who’s the one responsible for this mess.
“What is taking you so long, Saitama?! I only asked you to buy a ballpen, I didn’t ask you to make one! You’ve been testing my patience for a while now, and you’re just here, feasting on a low class bento some jackass made! ” Amai growled at Saitama.
The bald man, on the other hand, just responded by turning away as he soon realized that he is next in line. Unaware of the increasing tension, Saitama talked to the person by the counter and inquired for the item he was asked to buy. ‘Surely, Amai would shut up if I just bought his ballpen already.’ While doing so, Genos chuckled lowly at the indirect mention of his name and upon noticing that Saitama is busy buying something, he turned to face the actor with a smug look on his face and ready to snarl.
“For your information, princess. It’s not some low class bento. It is consisted of the finest quality of ingredients that you could not possibly afford tasting with your ignorant mind.” Amai almost snapped as Genos eyed the very much angry ninja.
“Besides, why would I let Senpai eat something cheap like a sandwich?”
Sonic was so tempted to strangle Genos’ neck at the insult but delivered a high jump kick instead that Genos was able to evade a second too late as the cyborg made a distance from the very angry ninja. “Oh screw you! At least I am not acting all cute and pouty when Saitama did not feed me some fish steak!” Genos hissed with guilt.
“Anyway, a rule breaker is far more better than a teacher’s pet letting baldy eat a bento of all things while there is a huge ‘NO EATING IN THE CORRIDORS’ written in bold caps lock three meters above us!” Mumen winced in his utter shame.
“Well it’s not my fault that Saitama has been so hungry because someone kicked him out of the cafeteria, hungry if I may add, just to buy some pen!”
However, he found some courage in his heart to actually talk back to Amai, whom he believed to be the cause of everything that’s happening right now. The blue haired teen glared at him and approached him with a menacing aura, enough to make the cyclist shiver in fear.
“Then why don’t you tell our dear teachers that essays are only just a waste of ink! Also, my hands are getting tired of writing, so why don’t you make yourself useful instead of standing there like a statue!” Mumen almost felt tears coming out his eyes.
Luckily, Saitama was able to catch up to their agreement as he went in between them. He could have just let Sonic and Genos fight or Amai get involved with them for all he cares, but he’s really quite protective of Mumen (also because the guy can’t take a punch too lightly) and he knows Amai is quite strong. One of the extra jobs Saitama had was to train Amai’s physique, so he knows quite well that Amai can fight.
But he isn’t going to allow him to abuse that. Especially on Mumen, obviously.
“Hey, just quit that already. Here, I got your ballpen. Happy?” Saitama said (quite sarcastically he might add) and the blue haired menace gently grabbed the back of the bald teen’s hand as he took the said ballpen. If Saitama were focusing on his hearing, he could have heard the sound of a ballpen being crushed by a metallic hand. Sonic made a low whistle on that and Mumen winced at the action. Poor ballpen indeed….
“Thank you Saitama. I knew I could always rely on you.”
Amai smiled like how he would to a woman whom he had a romantic scene with and Saitama could almost rolled his eyes when he saw that. The bald teenager knew that Amai is an actor, so he cannot really trust whatever face he is puling right now… Then, on a spur of a moment, in the midst of an awkward silence, Saitama soon then realized that there are four pair of eyes looking at him with that same look Amai was giving him a while ago. What King just said suddenly flashed back to him instantly.
“Why are you so popular with… very handsome men?”
Saitama shook the thought out of his head and turned to look at Sonic,who looked at him with a smug look on his face. He coughed while slightly feeling the tension before speaking. “Actually, Sonic. What are you doing here? It’s not like we’re…”
“I’m just… here to get back my Ziplock, Bakatama!”
Sonic growled (actually, it sounded more of a whine) at the bald teenager and the three of them rolled their eyes while Saitama only sighed in disbelief. This has really become so confusing…
“...You do know that I’ve already threw it away?”
Sonic widened his eyes in panic (fakely, Amai wanted to add) and pointed accusingly at Saitama. “What?! Are you kidding me?!” Saitama gave him a bewildered look as he scratched his head. ‘Okay, Sonic is really acting weird today…’ He thought as the black haired ninja took a knife from his pocket. “You goddamned ass, I’ll kill you!”
“Just dare do that and I’ll kill you slowly and painfully!”
Genos said with scorn in his voice as he placed a protective hand on Saitama and before the bald teenager could even say something, Sonic was already in front of the cyborg with a knife in hand. The tension grew as they waited for each other to make the first move and before any of them could lunge at their respective enemies, Amai went in between them and shoved the metallic hand away from Saitama. This earned him a glare from both parties as he wiped the hand he used with a handkerchief.
“Such pity, as if Saitama would waste his time with any of you.”
With this, the Demon Cyborg did not hesitated to release his palm and directed it on Amai, who raised his fist and clenched it as he carefully eyed the ninja. On the other hand, Sonic took advantage of the cyborg’s attention towards Amai as he pointed his knife against Genos. Saitama was about to say something brought by his confusion when Mumen decided to actually involve himself with the three fighting machines.
“Guys, stop this senseless fight, it is not right to kill each other!”
In that same moment, the three of them looked at Mumen as he bravely approached them and Amai cracked his knuckles. While he placed himself in battle stance, he eyed Genos before he turned approximately 180 degrees at a fast speed and did a hook kick that was immediately followed when he took another 180 degree spin and used the back of his fist to hit Sonic’s face. Luckily, the two were able to avoid it as they made a small distance from the blue haired menace. Mumen, however, was not prepared to be attacked by a roundhouse kick on his face. Fortunately, Saitama was.
“Hey!” The bald teenager exclaimed as he grabbed Amai’s shoe and the four of them were surprised by it, as well as some passerby’s who found the situation amusing. Amai made a small “Tch.” sound before he backed out and composed himself. The tension in the air grew thicker as Saitama faced Mumen. “Are you okay?” and was glad when Mumen made a thumbs up with a smile. “I’m fine, Saitama-san.” When the bald teen confirmed that his friend was not hurt, he turned to face the three menaces.
“What the hell is going on?!”
The four of them felt silent once again at the scary tone Saitama used, but Amai was more than amazed that Saitama was able to block his attack, stunned beyond relief upon hearing his voice who claim authority. Genos on the other hand was taken a back by Saitama’s bravery (though he would prefer if he were the one getting saved, and not some pest) and fell even deeper in the depths of his unrequited admiration, though he thought that those eyes would be better seen on bed. Oh, the imagination of Saitama pinning Genos down as he devoured him with his eyes. Truly heaven indeed.
The awkward silence, however, did not lasted as Sonic coughed roughly as he gulped his own saliva and spoke hesitantly. He was quite shocked that Saitama can actually speak with curse in his tone but that’s one of the things he liked about the handsome baldy. He’s so unpredictable. “... Saitama, we actually have a problem-!”
“Sonic, we already talked about this-!”
Mumen once again tried to stop this, due to his inner fear of getting known but Amai rolled his eyes and interrupted the cyclist. He doesn’t really care about that contract anymore, that’s all history. Besides, this is not a problem between them, this is a problem between them and Saitama. Letting this drag any longer will not do anything.
“-And you are the only person who can solve it.”
Saitama blinked many times before this could sink in. If he were to cling to the theory that King was proposing to him, it would sound like… they are all going to-nope! Saitama swore that he would never cross that line. ‘I mean, come on. Who would be interested in this face?’ He thought grimly as he sighed. Well, it would do no good if they just keep dragging this for long, and he doesn’t want anyone to get beaten up or to go to the principal’s office because someone messed up so this has to end. NOW.
“Ok, spill the beans.” He said flatly.
The four of them looked at each other (it suddenly dawned to Saitama that he doesn’t know that the four of them know each other.) ‘Well, it’s just a small world after all.’ and we're all about to say something when the bell suddenly rang and Saitama swore that he saw Mumen getting relieved by that. As the rest of the students hurriedly made their way back to their classrooms, Genos then wrapped his bento box once again and after doing so, he approached Saitama closely (as in centimeters close) as he bend a little and whispered to his ears in a very sweet way that made Saitama’s bones shiver.
“Senpai, I want to speak with you only with you at the rooftop after class.”
Then, he accidentally (purposely) kissed Saitama’s cheek as he pulled his face away from Saitama’s ear, making Sonic and Amai hiss and Mumen sigh. This shocked Saitama and almost asked Genos what it was about but the latter only smiled and ran swiftly back to class. Even Genos could not believe that he was able to do something like that, as he was flushed while his core spin wildly at the contact. But he knows that he has to get used to Saitama being close to him, as they are meant to be. For now, his beloved might be confused but not for long, of course. Soon, his beloved will be under his clutches and always begging for his attention, unable to be touched by these pests. Oh, just they dare make a move on his beloved and they will pay. Once he has confessed his feelings, he will eliminate anything that will pose as a threat to them.
‘Because Saitama senpai is only mine to love and to break.’
Saitama on the other hand, was too confused to gather what just happened that his senses did not caught Sonic slamming his head, but of course, it did not hurt him one bit. Even Sonic was impressed at that as he just showed a wicked smile plastered on his face as Saitama turned to him with a scowl. He will have to change that into…
“You heard him. We’ll settle this at the rooftop. So better show up, idiot!”
Saitama only rolled his eyes at this but nodded at Sonic as he gave a weak smile. This made Sonic change his color instantly and rush away from them, running as fast as he can. He actually cannot trust his face making weird expressions when he is looking at Saitama. He should be hating him and trying to kill him, if not, then why should he train to his full potential? Well, that was the original plan: kill Saitama. Saitama may have humiliated him back when but what can he say, he saved his ass. Soon later he realized that he is actually training to impress Saitama. He was in denial as he is until now, but Saitama was the only person who actually bothered taking him on even though he knows that he will win. He liked Saitama’s humbleness and boldness as a person, actually, he liked Saitama as a whole. The bald head may be something but…
‘Who cares, it’s not like I’m gonna tell him that I like him.’
As for Saitama, he as confused as he’s ever been with Sonic. He noticed that the guy is actually acting weird and he can’t help but notice it. ‘Damn King, why did you make my head spin like this?!’ But before he could be left in peace, Amai was next to approach him as the latter flipped his hair and Saitama felt like saying something to Amai but the blue haired menace (dared) to put a finger on his lips before speaking.
“Well, whatever. Saitama, meet me there 5pm sharp and that is an order.”
The baffled look on Saitama’s face was enough reaction to satisfy Amai, as he turned away and flipped his hair on the handsome face to rile him up. He briefly heard the stream of curses as he walked away and he smiled to himself. He grew up with the thought that he could get anything he wanted, but Saitama changed that. He told him that he could only get what he want if he truly deserved it. So, he did everything in his power to get authority over Saitama, even through illegal means. Well, it’s necessary, besides, it’s for them anyway. But honestly, it felt nice to be treated like royalty by Saitama, as if he is a knight and shining armor that will always be there to protect him. But of course, that is only a part of the blessing he has received thanks to his efforts. In order to achieve total victory, he must strive even harder and that is because…
‘I have to win Saitama’s heart no matter what the cause is.’
Meanwhile, Saitama is still pissed off with Amai after the stunt the latter just pulled but he’s actually more confused than ever. Saitama would be a liar if he hadn’t notice Amai using him too much as of the recent and becoming too physically close. It maybe because of… work stuff but still… ‘Argh, King! I’ll really kill you after this!’ As he calmed himself down, he was startled when Mumen poked his shoulder and he turned to look at him. He was actually tempted to ask Mumen what he knows that he doesn’t know when he took a deep breath and spoke quite bravely he may add.
“If you’re uncomfortable with this, I’ll accompany you as a friend Sai…”
Honestly, it’s not Mumen’s fault that he fell in love with Saitama because he is really amazing. That is why he cannot blame them for fighting each other just to get his attention. Actually, it made Saitama more attractive when he stopped them from fighting, but Mumen is not really liking what’s happening now. The moment he found out that gaining Saitama’s heart is a competition, he tried compromising with these strong personalities. He’s lucky when Sonic and Amai agreed (they’re probably shy too) but Genos was a case, until he agreed when no one can touch Sai. Mumen could say that it his selfishness but he’s really not yet ready to admit his feelings. He knows that the only advantage he has with Saitama is their friendship but if that is broken… he doesn’t know what to do… but since he also knows that Saitama is lonely…
‘I want to make Sai happy so…I’ll do my best just for him!’
Saitama has never been so confused in his life and he can admit that he is most confused right now. Mumen… getting attracted too… nope, he should not cross that line. Of course, Mumen’s not interested in him, heck, he’s bald and all that. Mumen is just being a kind friend who wants to be there so that no one can fight (and ah, probably using his officer status, he guessed) and no one will get hurt. So much for the confusing weird stuff, really. He should just go back to class, he’s already dragging Mumen in his laziness. Out of habit, he patted Mumen’s shoulder and went passed him, but lazily walking back to his classroom. He just hates Math is all…
“Yeah, that would be great.”
~~~~~
“King, you have to explain, now.”
And there they are again. The moment the last bell rang, which indicated the end of their afternoon classes was heard, Saitama was the one who immediately dragged King to the comfort room for men. He kinda expected people to just be on their way since it has been a long day and it is highly unlikely that they would still bother to go to there. Well, he actually planned to cut class so that they could talk this out, but King was opposed to that idea so he had to wait for two more subjects to get this out of his head. Those idiots’ actions are getting on his nerves and he needs explanations.
“Okay, let me explain.” King took a breath as he scratched his head.
Saitama rolled his eyes and groaned in response. “Oh god, please do.” He said sarcastically that made King sigh and was about to start but Saitama cut him off. “And hey, 20 words or less only.” King composed himself first before the thought sank to him and he nodded while saying: “Yeah, yeah.” before he began his brief explanation.
“Amai Mask, the infamous actor and your boss is the most demanded guy in campus.”
Saitama exaggeratedly snorted in disgust. “So what, he’s an asshole.”
“Well, women liked his face, and he’s got money of course.”King just shrugged as he eyes King with a very weird look that threw Saitama’s sense off to never land.
“Ugh, just continue.”
“Sonic Speed, the ninja delinquent and your rival is the most athletic guy in campus.”
Baffled, Saitama threw his hand in the air.“I don’t care, he hates me!”
“Well, women liked bad boys, and he’s very awesome, right?” King wiggled his brows while he grinned at whatever reaction Saitama is giving right now, which only gained even more access to Saitama’s inner rage that he never once showed King.
“King, just-!” Upon realizing the stress this has brought upon his friend, he sighed as he calmed him down.“Okay, okay.” He said to reassure him and allowed King to continue his speech. It went ahead 20 words but at least he got Saitama interested.
“Genos Kuseno, the cyborg and your kouhai is the most intelligent guy in campus.”
“But seriously, he’s weird!” This time, he stomped his feet in disbelief.
“Well, women liked weird, and his baby face makes up for it.” King snickered at this.
Saitama, for the umpteenth time, sighed in disbelief as he faced his friend and almost growled at him in his frustration. He just wants it over… “King, just get to the point.”
King chuckled for a bit (earning a what supposed to be glare from what Saitama’s face could muster) and continued. He’s actually close to saying it, but he want Saitama to actually figure it out. But as oblivious Saitama can be, of course it won’t just be a piece of cake. That’s why, he has to say the facts calmly and slowly…
“Mumen Rider, the president and your best friend is the most likable guy in campus.”
“Why is he involved here-?!”He shook his head in disbelief. Seriously?!
“Well women liked guys who are funny, and somewhat shy.” King tried to explain coolly but Saitama huffed at him and leaned his hands against the sink as he sighed.
“King, why are you saying this to me?”
To honestly say, King was so tempted to drop the bomb, but that would destroy all of their efforts to keep this as a secret. He has actually suspected for a while that those four handsome (popular) men are entranced by Saitama, but he really isn’t sure yet so he had to observe for a while. But, given Amai’s ruthless interrogation (more like: “Tell me what type of person he likes!”) and the book store incident (yes, he knows that, even though he wasn’t there.) that they really are into something. Knowing his friend who really does have a huge self depreciation, it’s very obvious that he would not bring himself to accept that so… He sighed in disbelief as he spoke the truth.
“Saitama, I have a feeling that they all like you.”
Saitama blinked once, twice thrice before he spoke. “Are you kidding me?”
King sighed in disbelief but is still willing to explain. “Saitama, listen. I know-”
He was, however, interrupted when Saitama’s phone ring as the sound: “ONE PUUUUUUUUUNCH!!!” echoed in the comfort room and the bald teen’s face was slightly tinted with a shade of pink as King sweat dropped. King was actually the one who introduced Saitama to this phenomenal The Hero song and although he was not really that interested to listen to it (‘cause seriously, there’s too much screaming!!!) he had to admit that he really liked the song overall. STILL, it sucked that King had to find out his small addiction for this song. Well, it’s a story for another day, soo…
He scrambled to get his phone and was startled to see Amai’s name on his phone. He sighed in disbelief as he answered it. Of all the people… “Yes, Saitama speaking.”
“Hello, Saitama. Don’t make me wait.”
There was pure anger in his voice that made Saitama gulp in response before the call was ended. It suddenly dawned to him that he did promised to meet the four of them at the rooftop and widened his eyes when he remembered it. ‘Damn, I almost forgot!’
King seemed to notice Saitama’s distress and inquired it. “What’d Amai said?”
Saitama then abruptly closed his phone and faced King with certainty but then suddenly remembered what he said a few minutes ago that flushed him. But since King is his friend… He really has to tell him. He walked towards him and went his way towards the door, but not before saying goodbye. “Apparently, the four people you were… well, they wanted to say something to me so….I gotta go. See ya!”
This time, King laughed at his luck. “You better not let Fubuki know this!”
His hand was already at the handle when he heard that and abruptly stopped to momentarily face King and snarled at him. “Oh shut up! I can handle myself!”
He could still briefly hear King’s laughter even after he left the comfort room and grumbled to himself as he walked briskly. If King was right, (of course he’s not, he’s just messing with Saitama) then he doesn’t know what attracted them to him. ‘I mean, come on. They’re all handsome, popular and appealing while he’s plain, weird and boring…’ He can only guess that they just want them there so that they can-!
“Ah!” He got so caught up in his thoughts that he was able to see the black haired woman holding a huge pile of books too late as the books fell on the floor and the woman almost fell on her back but luckily Saitama was able to catch her right arm on time. The girl widened her green eyes as she kept her balance on the floor.
“Ah…are you okay?” Saitama slowly widened his eyes as he realized who she is.
The black haired woman (Woah, who could have knew that this was Fubuki?!) pursed her lips as she looked down and the bald teen soon realized that he was still holding her arm. He immediately shook his hand off her (Damn, her skin feels soft!) and scratched his head as he chuckled uneasily. ‘Shit…how embarrassing can this get?!’
“Umm…” Fubuki looked at Saitama shyly as she fidgeted from her place.
Saitama was about to say something but closed his mouth right away as he realized that he is not really in the right state of mind to say something right. So, instead, he crouched down and picked up the books, even though Fubuki was uncertain of his actions and tried to stop him. “Umm… you don’t have to, I can handle it.”
“It’s okay, it’s my fault after all.” He smiled as he gathered all of the books in his arms and instead of standing there like an idiot, she also crouched down and took a fair share of the books that she was carrying a while ago. When they gathered everything, Fubuki was about to say something but Saitama let his mouth run first.
“Let me help you carry them as an apology, yeah?” Saitama stood up from his place.
The black haired woman sighed and nodded, seeing that she cannot stop him from helping her out. After all...it's quite heavy to carry them to the library.
“You didn’t have to. My name’s Fubuki.”
Saitama’s eyes widened at this and smiled as he went beside her. To be honest, the bald teen never had a personal connection with Fubuki. She just happened to be the most beautiful (and sexy) woman in campus and Saitama would be a liar if he said that she isn’t any pretty. It was just King assuming that he liked Fubuki more than he thinks he does because he always kept looking for her during assemblies. Well, she’s just nice to look at, that’s all, but King would not buy it. That is why, he kept on telling Saitama to just ask Fubuki out already, even though King himself doesn’t have the courage to ask Tatsumaki. He actually thought about it for some time but he’s too laid back to be the one to initiate their date. Although, he cannot deny the fact that he blushed when he finally got to talk with her. ‘Well, fate really does have its ways…’
“Ah…. I’m Saitama, just a hero for fun.”
~~~~~
“I thought you already called him!”
It has been 20 minutes since Amai Mask called Saitama and the four (suitors) have been waiting for about half an hour already. Sonic kinda guessed that Saitama won’t show up, given that he knows how forgetful Saitama could be and has been pestering Amai to call him again. Even though he doesn’t want to admit it, he knows that only Amai can make Saitama scramble to his feet and do what he was told. (though he is jealous of that, really) This statement caught Amai’s attention and closed his phone to answer the pest. It is really not his fault that Saitama tends to forget things, after all…
“I already did! It’s not my fault that he’s such a lazy ass!”
He subtly remembered the first days after he hired Saitama as his ‘bodyguard’. The bald teen was a total mess and very clumsy, not to mind that he’s very forgetful. There were times that he was so tempted to fire him, but given the situation that it was his fault why Saitama had to look for a job, he decided not to. Besides, he was somehow able to get Saitama’s unwanted loyalty, and he really felt like a prince when he is around. He likes the treatment, of course, that is why he’s not really willing to let Saitama go. But at times like this, he really, really wants to slap him in the face. Their agreement was five o’clock in the afternoon and it is already half after five o’clock for Kami’s sake! He just sighed in disbelief. ‘I really need to be stricter with Saitama…'
“Maybe he’s actually on the way…”
Mumen said shyly in Saitama’s defense but the two only groaned in response. He cannot actually blame them for being impatient because he knows that Saitama was really too laid back to even bother about these things. Even if this is very important to them, for Saitama, this is just a minor thing. To be honest, Saitama had never taken anything seriously aside from his training to become a hero but once he’s already strong enough (at least, that is what Saitama told him), he’s back to being lazy again. While the two just complained about Saitama’s insensitivity, Genos suddenly huffed and brushed the three of them as he made his way to the door. ‘Why is he..?'
“I had enough of this, I’m looking for him.” Genos said firmly.
Sonic was startled by this that he grabbed Genos’ hand as he stopped him from leaving. They know that Genos is the most unreasonable person among the four of them but they really need to have patience with him, even though he doesn’t want to. “Oi oi, where are you going Genos?!” He asked dumbly as Genos glared back at him.
“This was my idea to begin with, you people are just nothing but pests.”
He shoved Sonic’s hand away from him and Sonic hissed in irritation. He was about to punch Genos on the face as he clenched his fist but Amai went a head of him as he stood in front of Genos with a threatening aura. Not like Genos can be scared but…
“For your information, cyborg, you look more of a pest than we are.”
Amai glowered at Genos that the cyborg’s face darkened even more and Sonic went beside Amai. This startled Mumen as he scrambled to stop the three of them from fighting and stood beside Genos with a determined look on his face that made the three of them acknowledge his presence. He took a deep breath before his spoke.
“Guys, please don’t start fighting now. We will all get the chance to-!”
“I don’t care. I don’t have plans on sharing Senpai with any of you.”
Mumen was beyond shocked when he was interrupted and the other two glared at Genos as if he is the only threat to their existence. Since the beginning, Genos has always been the only person whom they cannot speak to normally. Mumen had countless of times tried to make friends with him but he refused, although when it comes to Saitama’s welfare, they only had a bit of mutual understanding. In fact, when Mumen had called the three of them to discuss their matter with Saitama, Genos literally dared to kill them. If only Amai and Sonic cannot fend him off, they would be dead already without any doubt. Mumen actually thought that he was warming up to him when they looked at each other as Saitama refused to eat but he guessed that it was all an act. ‘Of course, Genos would not dare kill me in front of Saitama…’
“That’s it.” Sonic declared and they all knew the meaning of it.
To begin with, they were rivals in pursuing Saitama’s heart. They only tried becoming friendly with each other because of their hesitance to admit their feelings, but it is all nothing now. Genos is right, to honestly say, nothing would happen with them just being friendly with each other. Mumen is just the one putting the peace sign in between them, but they all had enough. In the end, they all wanted Saitama and in order to get Saitama, they need to break the unnecessary truce. ‘Because, this is war.’
“Do you really think Saitama would be interested in an artificial body?”
Sonic jeered as he mockingly poked Genos’ metal shoulder and the cyborg shoved his hand as he grudgingly eyed Amai who rewarded him with a knowing smirk.
“Well, at least I don’t piss off Saitama when he sees my face, vermin!”
Amai was visibly offended by the remark as he totally lost his composure and sneered at Sonic while eyeing him from head to toe and the ninja frowned at his actions.
“Ha! At least my body is perfect and not decorated by revolting scars!”
Sonic had a knife in hand and was already prepared to redecorate Amai’s perfect face when Mumen bravely went in between them as he carefully eyed the three menaces.
“Guys, seriously! Stop fighting each other! Even Saitama does not want that-!"
Luckily, before this resulted into a massacre, the door abruptly opened and they all turned to be slightly blinded by the shine on Saitama’s bald head and then approached them slowly. He was quite nervous, as they have noticed, but he only scratched his head while grinning hesitantly (something that made their hearts flutter in excitement) in hopes of removing the growing tension, but failed miserably when they glared.
“Hey guys! Sorry I’m late!”
Amai Mask and Sonic only rolled their eyes in response, although Genos was more than happy to see Saitama again. Mumen Rider, on the other hand, coughed at his arrival and fidgeted in his place while he eyed them and silently asked them to talk for him. It was just his courage talking a while ago but he really felt like vanishing right now. Luckily, Sonic picked up with his uneasiness and spoke for him grudgingly.
“Where have you been?”
Saitama opened his mouth to say something but instead, he scratched his chin (an action that means he’s really nervous) and looked away from them. Amai was already tempted to snap Saitama’s head from his illusions when the bald teen suddenly spoke. “I-ah, actually!” This made the four of them jump from their places and upon noticing four pair of eyes, Saitama took a deep breath as he collected his thoughts.
“Ah… You know what, it’s getting late and I wanna go home…”
Since they’ve already known Saitama for a year, they can tell for a fact that that was not what he wanted to say. But since they are all tired and have been waiting for three hours just to get this out of their heads, Amai tossed his hair to the side and folded his arms as he approached him. “Well, I don’t want to drag this any longer anyway.”
Even though the three of them were already determined to say their feelings, (okay, Amai is still not ready and so is Sonic, and Genos felt like bursting this instant) this does not mean that Mumen is ready. “Guys, are really sure that you want to tell this-!”
“Guys, come on. Just tell it already.” Saitama groaned in disbelief.
The four of them looked at each other before nodding, and looking back to Saitama with determination in their eyes. If Saitama were to interpret this correctly, he would say that this is a huge mess but of course, he won’t since this ain’t a shoujo manga. ‘I mean… come on, I’m not even into dudes!’ If King is right and he is just a dumb ass who, no matter what convincing his friend do, does not believe that these four handsome men are interested in him, then the world is about to end soon because…
Saitama Hiroto believes that he’s the most ordinary student alive.
He barely passes his tests, crams his homework and has trouble making his projects. He has enough friends to survive and of course, he has a crush on the beautiful woman named Fubuki. Also, his family can manage to pay their expenses. So yeah.
Totally ordinary.
Perhaps what makes him different is that he is the strongest hero for fun and he got bald from it (despite being 17) and that he’s the bodyguard of some rich actor, but no one really cares about that. The important thing is, he is just a normal guy living life.
That’s why he was confused when four handsome men are fidgeting in front of him.
Mumen, his shy childhood friend. "...Saitama-san..."
Amai, his rich demanding 'prince'. "Saitama Hiroto.."
Genos, his cyborg stalker kouhai. “Saitama-senpai.."
Sonic, his persistent ninja 'frenemy'. "Ah..Bakatama!”
He just wanted to stop them from killing each other (really) when all of them said:
“I love you!”
Life has never become this complicated.
