Chapter 1: The Target

Chapter Text

Kouta stood on the cliff, the scene that unraveled right in front of his eyes left him in disbelief. The woods clouded with smoke of a fire and mingled together with an unknown fog. Everyone was down there, fighting with everything they got. Kouta’s hands were trembling and his face sweating, wanting some kind of confirmation that what his brain was suggesting was untrue.

And it was, until he was standing right infront of one of those problems.

Heavy footsteps sent rough vibrations through Kouta’s body, and the clacking of the villain’s heavy boots that dragged along the stray rubble made his breath quiver as the looming figure drew closer, “Ah, I was looking for a place with a scenic view,” The villain sighed. “And what do ya know? A face that's not listen with the ones from the archives..”

The villain continued with commenting on Kouta’s appearance, complaining that as a newcomer with the League of Villains, he's put through some hazing period and was given a joke of a mask to accommodate him. All throughout the villain's rant, Kouta paid absolutely no attention. His blown eyes darted from side to side, trying to find a way to escape. His anxiety pumping through his veins at the realization of if this giant villain is targeting him right now, what was going on with everyone else? What was going on with Mandalay?

Quickly, Kouta’s right foot pivoted, and he pushed himself in the opposite direction of where the villain stood, trying to get away. To go to safety like his aunt told him to. He knew it wasn't enough to outrun who he was against, he knew . But he couldn't just stand there, and the giant figure wasn't to be fooled, as his left foot applied pressure to itself, and he lunged forward, jumping off the wall to land right in front of Kouta once more.

“So,” The hooded figure drew out, his raspy voice felt like it was clawing at Kouta’s throat, “To cheer myself up, I'm gonna take out all that frustration out on you.”

The villain moved his left arm far back, then using his quirk to augment his muscles, the size of his arm growing and growing. With that movement, the hood fell from the villain's face, causing Kouta’s eyes to widen even further I'm shock of who was in front of him. He remembers the television echoing throughout the room of the appearance of this exact villain in the worst day of his life, “ If anyone out there recognized this mugshot, please dial and inform 911. One defining feature of his is a deep scar across his left eye…”

Tears of anger, panic, shock, sadness, and every negative emotion, filled Kouta’s eyes. His arms put in front of himself, not being able to be kept from shaking. This was him. The villain who dared smile like a maniacal child in a candy store. The villain, Muscular, who killed…

“M-mom! Dad!”

Muscular brought his fist down, almost seeming like slow motion for Kouta. He didn't move. He couldn't move. His chest heaven with every sob and breath he took, as he stood there, mortified in the face of death. He stood there, helpless, looking at Muscular’s fist come down, down, down, until he wasn't.

The sound of electricity crackling made Kouta’s head turn to the source of the sound in a split second, just to see a blur of a body surrounded elegantly with green lines of power reach out to him, and wrap their arms around his body, successfully ripping him away from a potential gruesome death. The unknown person used their body to guard Kouta as they tumbled and rolled backwards with a grunt. They let Kouta go as soon as they stopped moving, and stood up, gasping and coughing at the impact of the fall. Squinting, Kouta noticed that the person looked familiar. And as soon as the easily identifiable curly green mop of hair and scarred arms were shown, Kouta knew exactly who saved him.

“Hm?” Muscular raised his right eyebrow in shock and amusement. “Well ain't this just the cherry on top of this all!”

Izuku stiffened, his hands balled up in fosts ready to attack, and his head shot up to look at Muscular in disbelief, “Huh?”

“I recognize you.”

Izuku’s hands went slack, limp at his side's as he exhaled, “I'm- What .”

A sinister smile that made lightning shoot up both Kouta and Izuku's spine was painted across Muscular’s face, “You're the kid Shigaraki’s after,”

And then Muscular’s arm was augmented once more, his smile nearly splitting his face, “Midoriya Izuku.”
