Chapter 1: Secrets Revealed

Chapter Text

Izuku didn’t know what happened. One moment, he was participating in battle training (indoor again, but this time with three villains against two heroes- it was him and Tokoyami against Iida, Bakugou, and Todoroki), the next moment he was flying backwards, having broken a through a window using his head. He had a few moments to contemplate stealing Kaminari’s label maker (Jirou had gotten it for him) and covering himself in little signs that said ‘keep away from windows’.

Then, he was plummeting towards the ground, broken glass raining down with him. He realized, belatedly, that there was an impressive amount of burns and ice on him. ‘ Joint attack from Bakugou and Todoroki?’ He wondered, recognizing the burns as Bakugou’s.

About halfway to the ground he realized he should probably be trying to stop himself from falling. He twisted in the air, activating his boots, slowing his descent to something manageable.

He felt his feet hit the ground, and he stumbled. Okay, now he just had too-

When did I end up on the ground?’ He thought, feeling shards of glass pressing uncomfortably into his cheek. He could feel blood too, had he fallen?

“Midoriya! Respond!” That was Tokoyami’s voice. Through the headset. Right, they were still doing battle training.

“Uggghhhh…” He groaned, trying to push himself upwards. His arms didn’t feel like they were cooperating, just ending up with more cuts.

“Weapon retrieved. Hero team wins.” The automated voice said, and Izuku blinked. Guess Tokoyami managed to get past Iida.

“Midoriya! Hey, Midoriya!” That was… Toshinori’s voice, wasn’t it? There was a hand on his arm, gently pulling him to his feet, and wow he was dizzy.

“Shit, he must have a concussion. Come on, help me get him to Recovery Girl.” Toshi said, and he felt another arm wrap around him.

“Come on, Izuku.” That was Aizawa, wasn’t it? His head lulled to the side, resting on whoever was on his right.

“Huh? No, ‘m’fine, really.” He slurred, feeling both their eyes on him. “‘S’not the first time he’s done this.”

“The first time who has done what, exactly?” Aizawa asked, and he felt his mates begin to carry him.

“Kacchan. ’s’not the first time he’s pushed me out a window. Didn’t break my wing this time, though, s’that's a plus.” He said sleepily. Both his mates tensed up, and he could almost hear the pieces connecting. He felt like he shouldn’t have told him this, but his brain was foggy, and he couldn’t remember why.

“So, let me get this straight. Bakugou not only pushed you out a window, but was almost the cause of near permanent damage to your wing, which also made you unable to fly. ” Aizawa said, and Izuku had never heard him so murderous before. He felt like he should be afraid, but didn’t feel anything but an overwhelming sense of safety, letting his mates carry him.

“Mh-hm.” He mumbled, feeling an overwhelming tiredness.

“No, Izuku stay awake. Talk to us. Come on.” Aizawa coaxed, and he pulled his eyes back open.

“Right, concussion. Shouldn’t sleep.” He said, blinking to try and keep himself awake. He was so tired though….

“Izuku!” Toshinori snapped, and he jerked his head back up.

“Used to call me flightless, you know. After Bakugou broke my wings.” He blurted out, not really sure why. “‘Stupid, useless, quirkless, flightless Deku.’ ’d’think after a while they’d come up with better insults.”

He looked over, and he wondered why Toshinori suddenly looked so sad.

“Didn’t have any friends either.” ‘Had the world always spun so fast?’ “Maybe ’s’why I trust Ochako so much. She was the first person in my life who didn’t try and hurt me, other than my mom.”

He realized he had stopped walking at some point, Toshinori and Aizawa all but picking him up. His wings had gone limp, dragging across the floor behind him.

“Even you two did. Hurt me, that is. First thing you told me as All Might was that I couldn’t be a hero, just ‘cause I was quirkless. And then Aizawa told me I couldn’t be a hero because I didn’t have any control. It hurt, a lot. But, I was used to it, so I couldn’t let it bog me down. Not even when I found out you were my soulmates.” He said, and they were at Recovery Girls office now.

“What did you two do to him now?” She exclaimed, opening the door. He felt them pull him in, gently putting him on one of the beds.

“A few cuts from broken glass and a concussion.” Aizawa said, and she huffed.

“And a few secrets finally revealed.” Toshinori added, and he wondered why his mate sounded so downright pissed . Recovery Girl stood over him, and he blinked up at her.

“Secrets?” She asked, giving him a kiss. He felt the healing taking place, head clearing from it’s fogginess. Tiredness set in soon afterward, and he sunk back into the pillows with a sigh.

“He told us who broke his wing originally. And, I assume, who burned them.” Aizawa said, and Izuku suddenly felt wide awake.

“It’s not his fault! Please don’t expel him!” He said, sitting up. Recovery Girl looked irritated, pushing him back down onto the bed.

“Izuku, not only did he cause you intense psychological trauma, not to mentions physical trauma, he used his quirk, his extremely harmful quirk , repeatedly , on another minor, emotionally and physically abusing you for years.” Aizawa said, and Izuku bit his lip.

“He pushed you out a window, Izuku. And using your quirk without a permit is already illegal, not to mention using it on someone. ” Toshinori said, and Izuku sat back, looking away.

“Please don’t expel him.” He said softly, and Aizawa sighed. Toshinori sat next to him, gently reaching over. He let the man close, leaning into the contact when he began running a hand through his hair.

“It’s not up to us to decide whether or not he gets expelled. It’s up to Nedzu. But we will be giving him and all the other teachers information about this, as well as looking into the teachers and other students who ignored or participated in this.” Aizawa said, and Izuku realized he had just accidentally signed the death warrant of several people. He didn’t feel as bad about the teachers, but…

“Leave the other students out of it. They didn’t know any better, and they can still grow as people.” He said, and Aizawa sighed.

“Fine. But Bakugou’s actions will be investigated and reviewed, and action will be taken based on what we find. You need to sleep now Izuku.” Aizawa said, and Izuku could hear the fury in Aizawa’s voice.

He looked to Recovery Girl for help, but she looked as angry as he’d ever seen her, and he gave up.

“Just don’t be to harsh, please. He’s gotten better, since he got here. Changing that won’t help anyone.” He said, and Aizawa sighed again.

“Just get some rest Izuku.” Aizawa said. Izuku knew it was a losing battle, and his eyes were slipping shut again already.

“Okay…” He said, trailing off. He leaned towards Toshinori, snuggling into his mates side. He drifted off, feeling oddly protected tucked against him.

~~
Aizawa was actually going to kill Bakugou. He strode down the hallway, heading back to take over the rest of the class. He could feel his anger simmering below the surface, violently trying to get out. He stepped into the room, most of the students looking at him in concern.

“Midoriya is fine.” He said, barely maintaining his usual bored facade when he saw Bakugou.

He was so very very tempted to kill him.

~~

Toshinori has never been so angry in his life. Not for as long as he lived. Not even when he fought All for One, not when Nana died, not when facing any villain.

Izuku was laying against him now, sleeping soundly, and he was furious. Furious because someone had hurt Izuku. Furious because people had looked at Izuku, wonderful, caring Izuku, and decided he wasn’t worth it. Furious because he hadn’t know, hadn’t helped his soulmate at all. Furious because he loved Izuku and someone had hurt him so badly for so many years, and gotten away with it.

Furious because he hadn’t been able to stop it.
