Chapter Text
It was almost that wonderful time of the year again — Winter Break; the first thing people would think of during this season would be —the sweet, warm taste of hot chocolate and the welcoming warmth of the bed and of course, Christmas! — the favourite holiday festival of all times.
The students of Class 1-A: Hero Course were sitting casually hanging out in the common room. Some were sprawled across the long couch in warm, comfy clothes and a few of them were sitting on the ground, covered themselves with the warmth of the kotatsu while the others who were in charge of making dinner this evening; were preparing the food.
Everyone, with no doubt were excited for the winter break that was about to come so they could kick back and relax.
What a blessing.
Bakugou was busy chopping up some vegetables and putting them into a bowl —surprisingly, he was one of the few people who could be trusted with the kitchen without blowing the kitchen up or setting the stove on fire. Oh, the irony.
"Hey, Uraraka" Bakugou called out for Uraraka as he continued on with his knife works but this time with fish meat, "Could you switch on the damn stove for me?"
Uraraka did what Bakugou told her to do wordlessly with the occasional glances to him and Midoriya. They were being quiet, too quiet to her liking — despite, one of them; Bakugou was supposedly the loud one out of the duo.
Uraraka pursed her lips, trying to rack through her brain to find a way to discreetly ask about how they were doing. Though, she eventually backed off when she saw the irritated scowl Bakugou has on his face.
Moving on — Uraraka hand a handful of the others still cannot get their mind warped with the fact that, out of all the people they know; Bakugou was the one that actually know how to cook and his cooking was one of the better ones — if not, the best.
After eating their dinner, the kids of 1-A were lounging in the common room after washing their dishes.
Uraraka was sitting next to Tsuyu on the love seat — decided to slide in, "Hey, Deku," the said person turned to look at her, "Tell us an embarrassing story!"
Midoriya quirked an eyebrow at her, laughing nervously, "Why an embarrassing one...?" All he earned from her was a cheeky grin from the brunette. He gulped.
Bakugou took this chance to interject, "Stop pretending like you have any other ones." Now that made Midoriya quiet down a little, though after he discreetly gave him a stink eye. Bakugou snorted smugly at him in response.
"Oh!" Uraraka exclaimed, clapping her hands eagerly; her eyes were practically screaming her curiosity, "So, that means Deku has a lot of embarrassing stories!"
Bakugou tried to hide his smug look that threatened to appear onto his face as he scoffed, "Of course, he does, he's called Deku after all."
"Since the both of you are childhood friends, do you know some of his embarrassing ones, Bakugou?" Uraraka continued, leaving forward in attention — chocolate brown hues glinting with a hint of mischief mixed with genuine curiousity.
Bakugou grinned, "Of course I know, damnit," he paused for a second, recalling that one of many embarrassing incidents on the behalf of Midoriya, "there's this one time I witnessed Deku literally tripped over nothing in his own house back when we were kids, like; I was going over to his damn house and rang the doorbell then his mom opened the door to greet me and then his mom called for him and then he came running from up the staircase and when he reached the already opened door I was standing at, he literally fucking tripped over nothing in front of me, nothing! Just splat! Onto the ground, in front of the door I was standing at, then he started tearing up like a fucking baby after that, with snot running down his nose and his eyes were red and teary." Bakugou barked out a laugh when he saw Midoriya's face of utter betrayal — his cheeks were tinted red in embarrassment; mouth wide agape.
Uraraka choked out a laugh, her face red from trying to hold it in, "Oh my God, Deku tripped over nothing!? Are you being serious now?! Is that how he greets people because that's actually how we actually met?"
An inaudible gasp of betrayal came out of Midoriya's mouth. His silence basically screamed;
"How dare you! The audacity!"
Kaminari was choking on his laugh, tears were pooling in his eyes, "That's such a 'Midoriya thing'!!"
Midoriya spluttered, "Hey, what did you mean by that?!" Glaring daggers at Kaminari who was practically on the floor, wheezing. Midoriya was not amused at all!
Todoroki was trying to fight an amused smile from surfacing onto his face.
A few of the others were either laughing their butts off or smiling in amusement. They were enjoying this exchange a lot more than Midoriya had expected.
Bakugou snorted. He seemed to be the one who was enjoying this the most. Ah, the advantages of being childhood friends.
"Kacchan got a bloody nose the first time he used his quirk to fly," Midoriya spoke up; talking about the old incident back in their younger, childhood days — he obviously want to get back at Bakugou for spilling the embarrassing stories so two can play at that game, "he said that, it didn't hurt him at all but I knew he was lying from the start because his eyes were red and puffy and, I mean—" he gazed at Bakugou with a look, "how could a five years old kid could withstand the pain from a broken nose that has blood running out of its nostrils?" Bakugou narrowed his crimson eyes at him.
"And you wanna know how he got it?" the greenette smiled teasingly at his childhood friend; his sharp crimson eyes were not so scary to him at all at the moment, "he was standing the top of the slide and boasting about how he could fly with his explosive quirk so," he let out a chuckle, "he jumped off from the top of the slide with his quirk activated but it backfired onto him so he went plummeting to the ground," he shook his head in mock disappointment, "I'm surprised that he didn't had a concussion from that kind of fall," his eyes gazed at Bakugou, a teasing glint were presented behind the green hues, "your mom scolded you so much for that too."
Kaminari cackled, pointing a finger at Bakugou, "you're such a dumbass—" Midoriya was surprised that he was not blown off by Bakugou by now and man, Kaminari really does have no fear. In fact, instead of being scared for Kaminari's life at the moment, he was scared of his own because it took guts to even tell that to everyone in front of the explosive blonde and he would have to face the consequences of his reckless actions sooner or later so might as well go down, putting up with a fight. He was a dead man either way.
"Deku," Bakugou started off, flipping him off in the process, "apparently got an indirect confession from this one girl when we were ten and Deku being Deku didn't know what to do so he panicked and he answered to the girl's friend when he got asked if he liked her friend back or not," he paused, an amused chuckle left his lips, recalling the whole thing, "he said, he liked her too but as a friend," he heard one of his classmates 'oh'-ed and he grinned at the greenette whose face looked like a riped tomato, "that poor girl was also there with her friend so she tried to brushed it off and told him that her friend was just joking!" he leaned back into the couch, "the girl looked like she was about to cry too, Deku made her cry—"
"Hey! I was only ten and didn't know any better, alright!" Midoriya retort defensively, narrowing his eyes at him, "I thought she meant it in a friend's way, liking her platonically!" he rubbed his face with his face in frustration, "and I don't handle well being put under a spotlight, you already knew that so shush, Kacchan—"
Uraraka snorted, eyes brimming with tears from laughing at their stories, "Deku, I can't believe you made a girl cry! You're so oblivious!"
An invisible arrow shot right through his heart as he gaped at his friend who was laughing at his misery.
"Now, now, that was an honest mistake from Midoriya!" Iida came to his rescue, Midoriya's chest was filled with warmth; Iida was the real bro right here! He would not throw him under the bus, he was too nice for that, "though, I must admit, he was quite oblivious of the girl's feelings and I felt bad for the poor girl." and he spoke too soon so now he was suffering the heartache that was inflicted by Iida.
"Midoriya's look of betrayal is priceless!" Mina wheezed, gasping for air as she managed to took her phone out of her pocket and snap a picture of his current expression.
"Kacchan." he managed to choked out through his embarrassment, his eyes darting around the place, "Kacchan thought it was a good idea to slid down a pavement covered in slippery ice and in the end, he slipped and fell," he paused, "his skinned knee was bleeding all over the place too and he tried not to look panicked because of the blood but his eyes said another story," he let a smile slipped onto his lips when he saw the look on Bakugou's face, "he was so worried that his own leg would fall off from his knee because he had a huge gash on it and started sobbing like a baby—"
"That's enough—"
Midoriya's eyes lit up, and snapped his fingers, "I remember that one time he rode his bike only to—" his mouth was covered roughly by Bakugou's hand as he was faced with the dark look Bakugou has on his visage and he gulped inwardly.
"Fight! Fight! Fight!" Mina chanted loudly, fist bumping the air as she had her phone in her hand, ready to record the possibly incoming fight between two childhood friends who has way too many dirt on each other — much to their own distaste, considering that the other party would use it to their advantage if they felt like it.
"Deku fell—" Bakugou cannot even finished his sentence due to his friend hastily covering his mouth with his own clammy hand; much to his dismay because that was fucking disgusting, he did not need Deku's sweaty hands on his face.
Now, they were having a staring contest with each other; green eyes meeting crimson eyes — glaring at each other; Bakugou's glare was much, much harsher than Midoriya's but the greenette was not backing down any time soon and of course, not without putting a fight. If someone did not know any better, they could possibly pull off the whole 'gazing in their partner's eyes lovingly' idea but think again! Tension was up in the air — so thick that it could be slice with a knife.
Ah, tonight, undoubtedly, was so going to be long and eventful. Especially with these two kids around.
