“This is fucking stupid,” Bakugou grumbles, arms folded.
“Opinion noted,” Kirishima says, grinning.
Across the train carriage, a woman glares at Bakugou for swearing. When he glares back, she quickly drops her gaze. Kirishima raises his eyebrows, but he can barely hide his laughter.
He and his boyfriend have been on the train for a while now, travelling into the city centre. Because today there’s an LGBTQ+ pride parade, and the two eighteen year olds are about to go to their first ever pride. Although Bakugou is only here under duress. Still, Kirishima has always been the only person Bakugou will listen to, so he managed to persuade him to come.
But Bakugou still won’t get into the spirit. Sow whilst Kirishima happily wears a bisexual flag T-shirt, Bakugou just looks like he normally does, scowling.
“Come on, it’ll be fun,” he says.
“Really?” Bakugou says. “Because I don’t think it will. Who wants to saunter around in the heat all day? I sure don’t.”
Kirishima rolls his eyes, certain he can make Bakugou enjoy this.
---
“I hate you,” Bakugou says.
“Yeah, yeah.”
Bakugou is frowning so much it doesn’t make him look threatening anymore. He just looks adorable.
“I’m taking it off.”
“Not until we’ve taken a selfie,” Kirishima insists.
Bakugou rolls his eyes, but he doesn’t resist. So Kirishima slings his arm around Bakugou’s shoulders and takes a selfie of them both. The moment the photo takes, Bakugou pulls away and pulls the badge off of his shirt, tearing it slightly.
But Kirishima is more focused on the selfie. With his arm around Bakugou, Kirishima grins at the camera, wearing a bi pride T-shirt and a pin badge that says BI AND PROUD! in pink, purple and blue. Beside him, frowning at the camera, Bakugou looks like he wants to die from embarrassment, a button badge with the pattern of the aromantic pride flag on it pinned to his shirt. He smiles fondly at the photo and posts it on all of his social media accounts.
“I feel like such a dick with this on,” Bakugou grumbles, shoving the badge into his pocket.
Bakugou doesn’t hate himself for being aromantic (in fact, he was the one who told him their kind of relationship is called ‘queerplatonic), he’s just one of those people who doesn’t like to make show out of his identities. He can show off about his skills and achievements for hours, but he doesn’t really want to go up to someone and go, “Hey, I’m aromantic.”
So it was a good thing to get him here in the first place. But it’s really nice to be here, surrounded by other people like them and getting to be themselves. So even though Bakugou seems miserable, Kirishima is certain that his boyfriend is enjoying himself in his own grumpy way.
---
On the train on the way home, Kirishima slumps against Bakugou, exhausted.
“Did you like that?” he asks.
“No,” Bakugou says.
Kirishima laughs slightly. “Yeah, me too. Let’s go next year as well.”
Bakugou sighs heavily, but he doesn’t argue.
