Having a Quirk that most people consider useless, Shouta is used to working harder than everyone else. When he failed the entrance exam for the Hero Course at UA despite working his hardest, Shouta resigned himself to his life in general studies and vowed to be the best student in class. When he was forced to participate in the sports festival (he hates being in the spotlight, but everyone had to do it), he worked his hardest and managed to beat most of the students in the Hero Course, placing in second place, the highest ranking general studies student in the whole first year. And when he was approached by the teachers and told he was being moved into Class 1-A, he knew he would have to work the hardest in the class just to stand a chance.
That was a few weeks ago, and Shouta is doing well in the Hero Course. He bumped into the annoying loudmouthed boy from the entrance exam (the one wearing sunglasses who made a sonic boom-like effect with his vocal Quirk and caused every robot in a fifty meter radius of him to die; unsurprisingly, he got first place), and he and Yamada Hizashi actually became friends. In fact, when they had to pick their Hero names to go on their internships after the festival, it was Hizashi who came up with Eraserhead, the name Shouta now uses.
To be truthful, though, he and Hizashi aren’t actually friends. Last week, Hizashi kissed him, and they have been dating ever since. So as Shouta sits in the library and studies for their final exams, Hizashi has taken the seat beside him, and they study together. Hizashi slings an arm around his shoulders and kisses him, and Shouta rolls his eyes.
But he loves him.
