[Self indulgent continuation of another very sad work to make myself feel better]
[Has now turned into oneshots of the same world for whenever I feel sad. Yeet.]

Notes:

Hello! So first off, I need to give the warning, the fic this is based off of is INCREDIBLY gory and depressing and painful. I stumbled upon it and the intense warning made me curious and I felt so weirdly sad I had to do something? It wasn't going away? So I made my own happy ending. Pls don't kill me, whoever wrote the original, you made it anon so aaaa

In case you don't want to read the original, basic synopsis needed for this fic is thus: Vampires, after being revealed to mankind, have essentially been degraded to pet status. Min Yoongi didn't want this, at all, and thus survived on the streets basically, drinking dry people he thought were bad people who wouldn't be missed. But Park Jimin was an accident. He was thirsty, the boy was drunk, he couldn't control himself. He's apprehended finally by the police and put on trial, even though everyone knows what's going to happen.

Chapter Text

And suddenly, there he was again, standing in the sea of people crowding around the courthouse. Jungkook stumbled a little bit; using that bit of his power was always draining. He clenched his jaw, looking around at the crowd to see if anyone had noticed. If they had, they weren’t giving it a second thought. The crowd was huge, and stumbling from being jostled wasn’t strange. The boy reached up, adjusting his beanie in a very specific way.

Jeon Jungkook was not new. No, despite what his appearance said, he was far from young. Future sight isn’t a skill fledglings use, of course. Though, he was pained to admit, the knowledge of the skill itself was decreasing dramatically as the elders were systematically hunted down, any knowledge of the profane arts cut and kept a secret to maintain the status quo. He wouldn’t be surprised if no one in this crowd knew truly what was out there and what they were capable of.

A hand grasped his shoulder, causing him to quickly turn, tensing up until he saw who it was.

“Taehyung-ah.” He nodded his head in greetings. The other’s eyes were filled with worry, however.

“What did you see, Kookie? I haven’t seen you this shaken in… ever.” He spoke in a low, gruff whisper. Jungkook involuntarily shuddered as scenes flashed in front of his eyes.

“I knew it was bad. I knew it would be. But God, Tae, it was…” He trailed off, turning to stare at the ground. Focus. Focus on the present. It hasn’t happened.

“Did you… did you get what you wanted, at least?”

“Yeah… yes. I did.” Jungkook sighed, nodding ever so slightly. Despite how horrible he knew it would be, he had to know. He had to know why the man did it. What had happened. Who he was. Yes, Jungkook had gotten his answers, but more than that, his determination to his cause had strengthened immensely. Taehyung nodded, letting his hand slide off of the other’s shoulder and back into the pocket of his jacket. His eyes glanced up to the top of the courthouse, a barely perceptible spark in his eyes.

“So, you’re okay with going through with this, then?”

“Yes. More than okay. I couldn’t live with myself if we didn’t.”

“This’ll put us in the spotlight, ya know. Can’t hide after this. If we’re caught, same thing will happen to us. From your look, I can’t say that’s something I’d want to happen.”

“No, Tae, I know. I don’t think we can afford to hide anymore. Not when shit like that is going on.” Jungkook’s hands balled into fists as he tried to contain the rage he felt, vastly overpowering the sickness he felt prior. Taehyung’s brows raised slightly as he searched the other’s face before turning back to the courthouse, nodding twice ever so slightly, the same spark in his eyes.

It had been cloudy, a dull blanket of grey covering the sky, so the possibility of rain wasn’t too outlandish to the gathered crowd. However, the wind that suddenly buffeted them was far too strong to come about so suddenly. Jungkook and Taehyung quickly started shoving their way through the now slightly frantic crowd, a very set destination in sight.

It was when the lightning struck that it all kicked off. It traveled through the ancient oak with a powerful crack, everything seeming to pause for a moment before the tree practically exploded from the inside out, wood shards flying everywhere. The wind suddenly changed direction, pushing the now teetering tree towards the courthouse where it fell with a mighty crash, taking half the stone wall with it. While all this was happening, Taehyung took a running leap forward, far higher than any normal human would be able to jump. His body twisted in the air, features distorting and morphing in almost sickening ways until he landed once more, but not as the attractive youth he had been. Jungkook hopped onto the giant wolf’s back, grasping on the reddish brown fur as Taehyung galloped forward. Another strike of lightning hit inside the now torn open wall, sending even more stone flying.

Taehyung lept deftly up the pile of stone, barreling through the still befuddled and shocked groups of people that had stood inside the courthouse. His eyes were trained on a very specific figure, cowering slightly behind the defendants stand. He skid to a stop as they reached the man, Jungkook reaching a hand down to him. Min Yoongi looked up with immense confusion and slight fear.

“Don’t question, just come!” Jungkook yelled down to him through the sounds of panic and storm. Yoongi hesitated only a moment before he reached up and grabbed the other’s hand, being pulled up with surprising strength to sit behind. “Just hold on to my jacket as best you can. Let’s go, Tae!” The wolf snorted a bit, turning and sprinting away just as quickly out of the building. Security had gotten their chance to regroup, however, and they all knew very well what the guns they toted were loaded with. Another well timed crash of lightning prevented anything from coming of it as they sprinted off into the city streets.

With the cover of the intense storm, the group of supernaturals quickly found themselves alone in a seemingly unassuming alley, unassuming to all but those who knew what to look for. With the brief reprieve from running, Jungkook slid off of Taehyung, Yoongi following suit. Before a word could be said, Jungkook grabbed the cuffs around the other’s wrists, breaking the chain with a single motion. Yoongi looked down in shock then back up to Jungkook, recognition finally flooding into his face.

“You’re- You were with that kid, that- I didn’t- I ju-” Yoongi stumbled over his words, an uncommon occurrence for the man, but the situation granted him the reprieve from being silver tongued.

“No, no, stop, you’re going to choke yourself on your own tongue. I know you didn’t mean to. I know what happened.” Yoongi looked at Jungkook with a perplexed expression. “I’ll explain later-” The two flinched as they were drenched once again, Taehyung shaking off as the rain lessened. With the lessening of the rain, another figure appeared at the mouth of the alley. Yoongi tensed up, seeming ready to sprint, but the other two just looked over casually, Jungkook waving lazily.

“Nice aim with that lightning, Hobi-hyung.” Jungkook complimented as he shoved his hands in his pockets. The figure of Jung Hoseok bounded happily down the alley, a bright smile on his face. Though everyone and everything else seemed drenched, he was perfectly dry.

“Aaaaa, I’m so glad I was able to do so! There were a few times I thought they spotted me, but nope!” Hoseok stopped in front of the group, eyes resting on Yoongi. “Oooooh, this is him, huh?” He stepped forward, Yoongi trying his hardest not to flinch away, but after months on the run it was hard not to. However, the man only offered his hand to shake, smiling once again. “Jung Hoseok, elementalist!” Yoongi cautiously accepted the offered hand, still just as confused, but he wasn’t about to complain. He was absolutely certain they would have pronounced him guilty.

“Jin should have been here by now…” Jungkook muttered, worry lacing his voice.

“Ahhh, don’t worry about Jinnie! You know he’s just fine.” Hoseok patted Jungkook on the back, perhaps a bit too enthusiastically. He opened his mouth to respond, but was cut off as a bright white light suddenly filled the alley. It slowly morphed until it was vaguely human shaped, and in the blink of an eye the light was gone, replaced instead with a man, ethereally flawless, pure white feathered wings sprouting from his back.

“Aish… Sorry I’m late. I had to figure out the best way to get here.”

“Welcome to the party, Jin.” Jungkook chuckled. “We were just talking about you.”

“As you should!” Jin grinned slightly, glancing over his friends before settling on the lone stranger. He squinted slightly, though Yoongi couldn’t tell if it was in anger, disgust, bad vision, or something else entirely. “Good, you got him. Good, good. We ready to go? Should get moving before they have time to figure out what to do.”

“Wait- wait, wait just a fucking moment!” Yoongi finally spat out, stepping away from the group. “What… what the hell is going on? I can’t say I’m upset that you got me out of there, but who the hell even are you? It sounds like you’ve been planning this for weeks, what the fuck?”

“Language!” Jin admonished, pursing his lips somewhat.

“What? Look, all I know is that, I’m pretty sure at least, the boyfriend of someone I fucking killed just broke me out of a trial, which I’m absolutely sure would’ve ended poorly for me.”

“It would. It would end worse than poorly for you.” Jungkook reached up and pulled off his facemask, revealing his own pointed teeth that matched Yoongi’s. “You did, in fact, kill my boyfriend. But I know it wasn’t your fault. None of this was your fault. I know what’s happened to you, Min Yoongi, and what would've happened if we left you there. There was no way I could stomach  that.”

“Oh, he ended up using the future sight after all?” Hoseok pondered outloud, to which the giant wolf snorted and nodded.

“Wh- future sight?”

“Yes, future sight.” Jungkook sighed slightly, not at Yoongi necessarily, but the sad fact that he had no idea what he was talking about. Not that it surprised him. “My name is Jeon Jungkook. I have been around since before all of this, since before we even became known to humankind. But please, don’t bother with honorifics, it’s awkward.” Yoongi stared openly, processing what he just learned.

“This is lovely, but can we do introductions where we aren’t in danger of being shot?” Jin butted in, slight worry on his face.

“Right, yeah, sorry. Yoongi, just hold onto Seokjin, here, and don’t let go until we’re all there.” Jungkook spoke as he reached over to grab the sleeve of the aforementioned man, the others doing the same, though Taehyung had to grab with his mouth. Once all had grabbed onto him, the same blinding light took over their senses entirely, filling them with a warmth and feeling of floating that ended all too soon.

Yoongi was the last to let go, stumbling back slightly once he had. He had absolutely no idea where they were. He had no idea if they were even anywhere on Earth, honestly. In front of him stood a giant hollow mountain, peaks obscured by cloud, waterfalls flowing down into a complex series of creeks that met into a large river, all flowing into the dense forest that surrounded it. As otherworldly as the geography was, what was inside it was even stranger. A town, saturated with color with so many clashing styles it almost hurt to look at was settled in  the hollow of the mountain. Even from a distance, Yoongi could tell it was bustling with activity, but what was most curious was some of that activity seemed to take place in the sky.

“Oi, Jin, could you have taken us any further away?” Jungkook reached forward to gently push the man.

“What! I wanted to give him the full experience!”

“That’s great but not all of us can fly!”

“Well that just sounds like a problem for you, you brat!” Jin flexed his wings a bit before taking off into the sky with powerful strokes, gracefully circling above them.

“They… do this a lot. Anyways, welcome to Haven! Home sweet home~” Hoseok spoke to Yoongi in a sing song voice. “Like its name, its a safe haven for supernaturals of all kinds. Even those that humans don’t always acknowledge or try to kill out. Some humans here, too, of course, but they’re all very nice and accepting and helpful!”

“That’s great, but… why?” Yoongi asked, still puzzled about something.

“Huh? Why? Why what? Why would humans be nice? Well not every human is gonna-”

“No. Why save me? Why bring me here?” Yoongi interrupted, paying no heed to the other three who were all teasing each other in various ways now. “I killed people. People who didn’t all deserve to die. I killed- killed his-”

“You killed Jimin. We know.” The usually sunny disposition of the other faded into seriousness. “Honestly… I’m not so sure how he forgave you so easily. He acts all tough and smart, but sometimes Jungkook is too sweet for his own good.” He paused, the weight in Yoongi’s soul growing heavier. “But, if I know anything, it’s that Jeon Jungkook doesn’t do anything without reason. I’ve known him a while, and I’ve never seen him more fired up than he was when we saved you. Whatever he saw when he looked ahead, well… I trust it. I trust him. So I trust you.”

“That’s a mistake.”

“Only if you make it one. You never were taught to be a vampire, huh? They don’t teach you that. Only how to be a pet. So it’s understandable for one who doesn’t want to be that to struggle.” Yoongi tensed up again, only this time it wasn’t out of fear or anxiety. “Aaa, I don’t know what I’m saying. Point is, think of this as a new start. Whatever happens now is up to you.” Hoseok walked forward casually, leaving the shell shocked Yoongi before calling back to him. “Oh, and don’t worry, by the way! Jiminie’s technically dead, but Kookie found a necromancer!”

For once, instead of feeling empty and scared, Min Yoongi didn’t know how to feel.

And he was okay with that.
