Chapter Text
Winter break had finally arrived.
U.A had decided that they couldn’t constantly keep their students away from their families, and so all students were allowed to spend a few weeks away from campus. The League of Villains’ activity had died down as of late, and so security protocol was lightened.
To Izuku Midoriya, being back at home and able to relax felt strange. Even stranger was how everyone wanted to spend their time.
The second semester had only just finished and already his classmates were planning to get together. It hadn’t even been two weeks before Yaoyorozu added everyone in class 1A to a group chat.
Momo Yaoyorozu (6:04pm):
Hey everyone, I have some great news! Mother is out of the house for the weekend for business and says I can have the class around for a get-together! I have more than enough space, so bring something to sleep on. DM me any questions and if they have any importance to the group as a whole I’ll put the answer here. Please just reply in here with a YES or NO. We don’t need every group chat devolving into a pit of gifs and memes.
Looking at you Kaminari.
Denki Kaminari (6:05pm):
yikes
I would be insulted if it wasn’t completely true
also yes.
Mina Ashido (6:05pm):
It’s a yes from me!
Toru Hagakure (6:05pm):
Me too!!!!!
Minoru Mineta (6:06pm):
Me three
Momo Yaoyorozu (6:06pm):
Don’t make me regret the decision of not excluding you from this Mineta. If you stick a toe out of line I’ll have a driver take you straight home.
Eijiro Kirishima (6:07pm):
That’s the most polite way I’ve ever seen someone threaten another person
Also I’m in!
Katsuki Bakugo (6:07pm):
Whatever
Momo Yaoyorozu (6:10pm):
So I’ve had some questions about drinking, and after thinking about it why not! Just PLEASE be responsible and try to bring your own. There’s plenty here but the less that goes missing from Mother's supply, the better.
Tenya Iida (6:10pm):
Yaoyorozu I have many issues with this! I will discuss this with you in private messages!
However, I will also still attend. If anything to supervise and make sure we do not disgrace the name of heroes in training everywhere.
Ochaco Uraraka (6:11pm):
If Iida’s there then it’s alright with me!
Fumikage Tokoyami (6:13pm):
I too shall attend.
Koji Koda (6:13pm):
I think I will too!
Yuga Aoyama (6:14pm):
You may all be blessed with my magnificence!
Steadily the entire class responded to Yaoyorozu’s message, even the students who typically kept to themselves were planning on going. All except Midoriya, who sat at his desk with his phone in his hands, quietly muttering whether or not he should go.
“A-a-a-a party? I’ve never been invited to one before? Should I go? Surely I should go? It looks like everyone in class is gonna be there and it would be really great to see them! (Even) Uraraka seems interested. I shouldn’t just go because she wants to! Should I? I’m only sixteen, should I really start drinking? It’s not like it’ll become a habit right? It’s just one party...”
The boy sat back in his chair, pushing some of his messy green locks out of the way so he could rub is eyes. A mild headache was coming on, caused overthinking such a simple thing. Midoriya decided to check what was happening in the chat, but found he had received a private message.
Ochaco Uraraka (6:23pm):
Hey Deku you haven’t said anything? Please come, it would be so good to see you!
Izuku Midoriya (6:23pm):
Hey! yeah I’m just thinking about it right now.
Don’t worry I won’t be much longer, just need to check some things.
The green haired boy’s head hit his desk with a thud. “What am I gonna do?”
*DING
Izuku lifted his head to find another message.
Mirio Togata (6:25pm):
Hey Midoriya my dude, Yaoyorozu said she’s hosting a party and you’re hesitating? What’s up man?
Izuku Midoriya (6:26pm):
Hey Mirio!
Oh well, I just don’t know...
I don’t know if I should go. Aren’t we a bit young to drink?
I mean, maybe it’s not a big deal.
I dunno
Mirio Togata (6:26pm)
Really?
I thought you’d be pretty into it.
Is something wrong?
Izuku Midoriya (6:26pm):
No nothing like that!
Of course I want to go. I’m just worried about what could happen if I drink you know? I’ve never tried anything like this before, I just don’t want to make mistakes and look like an idiot...
Mirio Togata (6:27pm):
Riiiiiiiight
This isn’t about drinking, is it Midoriya?
This is about someone going to the party right?
Probably a girl, right?
Midoriya’s face went a light shade of red. It was a good thing Mirio couldn’t see it.
Izuku Midoriya (6:27pm):
Wait WHAT?!
No of course not
I mean
Is it really that obvious?
Mirio Togata (6:27pm):
Yeah dude, you’re the easiest person on the planet to read
Look, just don’t think about it yeah?
Relax, and say you’ll go. Trust me, I’ll give you a hand on the night.
I’ll even bring you a box of beer as well
Izuku Midoriya (6:28pm):
Wait you’re going?!?!
AND A WHOLE BOX OF BEER?!?!
Mirio Togata (6:28pm):
Yeah! Shit yeah! :D
Yaoyorozu said she’s seen we’ve become pretty good friends, so she messaged me and said I was invited
Also she said you hadn’t replied yet, so I guess it was implied that she wanted me to convince you to come
Izuku Midoriya: (6:29pm):
Yeah alright, I’ll tell them I’m coming
And thanks, by the way
Mirio Togata (6:29pm):
No problem :)
That’s what heroes do! Haha
Be a wingman and get their underage friends beer
Izuku Midoriya (6:29pm):
You’re underage too, Mirio
Mirio Togata (6:29pm):
I have no idea what you’re talking about
Midoriya smiled, he was happy to be good friends with Mirio. He was probably the friendliest person he encountered at UA, aside from Uraraka, and as someone older and more experienced, he’d definitely know what to do in any social situation.
Izuku Midoriya (6:30pm):
Okay, I’m coming too!
Ochaco Uraraka (6:31pm):
Woohoo!
Momo Yaoyorozu (6:31pm):
Wonderful Midoriya!
Eijiro Kirishima (6:31pm):
Hell yeah man!
Fumikage Tokoyami (6:32pm):
It will be good to see you again, Midoriya.
Katsuki Bakugo has left the chat.
Ejiro Kirishima added Katsuki Bakugo to the chat.
With his entire class and Mirio attending, even if Izuku wanted to re-think going the effort of backing out wouldn’t be worth it.
At the idea of such an experience, Izuku began to feel excited. The whole class would be able to bond (and finally get to enjoy themselves). He remembered hearing about a few party games from foreign UA students. The more he thought about it, the more he just wanted the party to start already.
*Two days later*
“Have you packed your pillow, Izuku?”
“Yes Mom.”
“And a spare change of clothes?”
“I’ve packed a spare shirt, but it’s not like I’m spending the whole weekend there.”
“And a spare change of underwe-”
“It’s okay Mom! I think packing a full change of clothes in kidna unnecessary...”
His mother just smiled in response. “I can't believe you're going out to a party with all your friends. So grown up! Just be careful getting there okay sweetie, and don’t stay up too late!”
“I won’t Mom, have a good night.”
With that, Midoriya made his way from his mother's apartment to the train station. The party would start at 7 pm, so he boarded the train at 5:02pm. It took about two hours to get from Shizuoka Prefecture to Aichi so Midoriya bought a bento from the train station for dinner.
He figured if they were drinking, even only a small amount, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have a decent dinner. Midoriya did as much research into drinking as he could over the last two days, just in case. Apparently, eating beforehand is a good idea to stop a hangover.
Did I dress okay? Is it too little? Is it too much? What will Uraraka think? No! I should be thinking of that. Just like Mirio said, relax. I just gotta focus on having a good time and good things with happen right?
Midoriya fidgeted constantly while contemplating his wardrobe. Wearing his classic big red shoes, dark chinos, and a short sleeved button down shirt, as well as a warm coat and scarf to stave off the cold until he arrived at his destination.
After arriving in Aichi Prefecture it was only a short walk to Yaoyorozu’s house. Midoriya came face to face with the giant gates that some of his classmates had told the rest of them about when they studied there for midterms back in the first semester.
He buzzed in intercom to try and get ahold of someone who could let him in.
Yaoyorozu’s energetic voice came through the speaker. “Oh Midoriya, you’re here, wonderful! Everyone will be so pleased. Please, come on in.”
With that Izuku walked down the driveway and found himself at a similarly massive front door. He closed his eyes and breathed in and out.
“Here goes nothing.”*
Izuku opened the door to the lively sounds of a party. The front door and entrance way lead to Yoayorozu’s absolutely huge living room with a large kitchen attached to it.
Kirishima, Bakugo, Kaminari, and Sero were all in the kitchen, joined by, to Izuku’s surprise, Itsuka Kendo and Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu from class 1B. They all seemed to be arguing about who would win one on one fights out of various members of their classes. Even Bakugo was getting invested, but he was mostly just shouting how class B were all “extras” and how he’d “murder” them.
Jiro was at the far end of the living room, hunched over a laptop, likely queueing up the perfect playlist. She twirled one of her earphone jacks in her finger while the other hand worked the trackpad.
She was so focused on what she was doing it seemed like she couldn’t even hear Kaminari calling out about something called “despacito” and “baby shark”.
Asui, Koda, Tokoyami, and Shoji were all spread out amongst some couches, seemingly drinking less than their friends in the kitchen as their voices weren’t raised nearly as loud and their conversations seemed to be a lot less intense.
Even more surprising than Tetsutetsu and Kendo’s presence was that they were also joined by Shinso Hitoshi. His transfer to class 1A had only recently been announced (Due to extraordinary grades and recommendation from several teachers), and the party was likely the first time he could socialise with his soon to be classmates.
Previously, he seemed like a pre-sports festival Todoroki, but currently, he seemed far more relaxed than usual. He even appeared to be enjoying socialising with the other members of the class.
Ashido, Uraraka, and Hagakure were all dancing and singing along to the melody to the song Jiro was playing, along with Ojiro (who was likely dragged into it as he looked very out of his element) and Aoyama (who looked very in his element.)
The remaining members of the class, Yaoyorozu, Iida, and Todoroki, simply stood at the side of the room surveying the group and talking between themselves. They too seemed more relaxed than usual, even the boys, who were smiling constantly and laughing.
Iida was the first one to realise Midoriya’s presence, and once he notified Momo she hurried over to him. She was not, however, the first of Izuku’s classmates to make it to him.
“Ah, Deku!” A cheerful, particularly lovely voice squealed.
Uraraka bounced over from the otherside of the room and threw her arms around the young hero. Izuku reeled slightly due to the sudden physical contact. A girl was hugging him and it wasn’t his mother. He could feel her warm body against his chest, and he faintly smelt what was some kind of alcohol mixed with a considerable amount of sugar.
Ochako released him from the embrace. She was wearing a simple pink dress that swayed slightly along with her body. “It’s so great to see you! We’re all so happy you could make it. How’s your break been?”
Midoriya scratched the back of his head, looking everywhere other than into his friend's big adorable eyes. He was trying, and failing, to hide his rampant blushing as he stuttered. “O-oh you know, just training and study and you know, normal stuff. Um, y-you look really nice tonight Uraraka...”
Her face lit up with a big smile. “Thank you so much! I like that shirt by the way.”
She suddenly reached out and took Izuku’s hand. “Hey you wanna dance? Let’s go, it’ll be fun!”
Izuku could hardly string a sentence together in his current state, let alone dance with a girl. Especially THIS girl in particular.
Yaoyorozu thankfully came to the rescue, like the thoughtful host she was. “Come now Uraraka, give him a little room to get settled in first. Midoriya looks a little overwhelmed by everything right now.”
The petite brunette stuck her lips out slightly and pouted towards Yaoyorozu but became distracted as her group began to call her back. “Okay maybe a little bit later!” She squeezed Izuku’s hand a little bit (just enough to make his heart skip a beat) and flashed him a smile before heading off.
Midoriya felt like he had just relived the first time he met her.
I just hugged a girl!
*(didn’t actually hug her)
Yaoyorozu turned to her newly arrived guest. “Midoriya, I’m so happy you could make it. Follow me, I’ll give you a short tour and then make sure you get to say hi to everyone.”
With that Midoriya collected himself and trailed after his classmate who quickly showed him an extra living room in which he would be sleeping (and also used the opportunity to store his bag, coat, and scarf there) as well as the bathroom should he ever need it. After the brief tour Momo brought him back to where she was previously, standing by Iida and Todoroki.
The ever dutiful class rep greeted him first. “Good evening Midoriya, I hope your trip out here had no issues?”
“Yeah it was fine, and I’m doing good!. First party sort of thing you know. What about you Todoroki?”
Todoroki smiled. “I’m well thanks. It’s amusing, just sitting here, watching people drink and become idiots. Well, bigger idiots than usual, if you know what I mean.”
“Todoroki you are also imbibing!” Iida was using his signature robot-like gestures to indicate towards a beer in his friend’s hand. “I do not think you’re in a position to comment on such behaviour.”
The other three teenagers chuckled and the heterochromic pointed towards the group of loud teenagers in the kitchen. “I feel like I can when I’m not in that kind of state.”
Just as Todoroki motioned to the other side of the room the six young heroes had begun pouring shots with Kirishima challenging Tetsutetsu to a challenge of manliness (whoever could sink two shots the fastest) with Kendo joining in as well. Kaminari and Sero cheered encouragement for their classmates, and Bakugo, not wanting to be one upped, yelled out “I’ll destroy you idiots!” and proceeded to pour himself three.
“Okay, I think I want to make sure I say hi to everybody. Just incase everything gets a bit more intense and I don’t have the chance.” Izuku announced. “I’ll catch up with you guys later.”
Iida, Yaoyorozu, and Todoroki all waved and wished him good luck. He would need it as his first destination, was the kitchen.
“Why’d you have to come Deku?” the violent blonde spat as Izuku came to greet them. He leaned with his back against the kitchen counter, and with empty beer bottles behind him. It was clear he had already had several.
“Don’t be such a downer Bakugo, it’s good that whole whole class is here. Plus we all like Midoriya right?” Kirishima piped up, quick to defend his classmate.
“Whatever.”
“Wassup Midoriya?!” Kirishima put his fist out towards Midoriya.
The young man reciprocated the gesture. “Hey everyone! I’m doing pretty good. It’s nice to see you Kendo, and you too Tetsutetsu. I didn’t know Yaoyorozu was such good friends with you two.”
“Not exactly,” the ginger girl replied. “We interned with Uwabami together remember? And we got along pretty well. Don’t really see each other inside school very much, aside from class rep meetings. Tetsutetsu is my plus one.”
“Wait, speaking of people being here...” Izuku turned to his classmates. “Where’s Mineta? I was kinda surprised to see him invited...”
Sero and Kaminari began to chuckle.
"He coma'd dude." Kaminari explained. “As soon as he arrived he started shouting stuff about “going plus ultra!”, so he slammed four shots and passed out. Guess he got a too excited at the thought of girls and drinking.”
“No surprise there though.” Hanta added. “A guy who’s smaller than a child can’t handle his alcohol. He’s upstairs in the guest bedroom sleeping it off.”
“What?! Is he going to be okay?!” Midoriya had done so much research into all facets of drinking, and his brain almost began to fire inter mutter mode at the thought of a classmate comatosing.
“Relax Midoriya.” Hanta reassured. “We’re checking on him every so often, he’ll be fine”
“Yeah, Sero is right.” Kirishima added. “But anyway, you wanna beer dude?”
Before Izuku could respond, Kirishima hardened the left side of his forehead, put the bottle against it, and pulled the cap off. He offered the drink to Midoriya, who hesitated, but then accepted the gesture. His right hand shook just a little bit as he grabbed the bottle. He hadn’t done all that research for nothing now had he?
“Nice! Now we’re talking” the boisterous young man exclaimed, he raised his own bottle to get the group’s attention.
“Cheers everyone! Let’s have a great night!”
Everyone followed suit, and after a mighty “cheers!” they all drank.
The beer hit Izuku’s taste buds immediately.
Okay wow, B I T T E R, that’s a shock. Hm, not bad though.
It went down surprisingly easy. It was bitter, but it also felt light and easy to stomach.
“Woo yeah, let’s go!”
“Yeah! Gonna be a good one.”
“Yeah, yeah whatever. Hey dunce face, take a knee with me.” Bakugo, already looking bored, grabbed Kaminari by his collar.
Izuku turned his head to survey the room, the group that was dancing had now merged with the group on the couch, which was now made up of various subgroups with their own conversations.
Izuku quickly searched the area and noticed the host was missing. “Huh? Where’s Yaoyorozu?”
Seemingly as if she heard herself being called she returned, appearing as if she had just come from the front door.
“Alright, now the party is complete!” She announced to her guests. Everyone turned their heads to see who was arriving.
In walked a vault boy/Tintin hybrid with a chest the size of a rock, medium length blonde hair, and a goofy smile with his tongue sticking out.
Mirio Togata was in the building.
He scanned the area briefly before identifying Midoriya, and with a big grin on his face, walked over to the green haired boy and his friends.
“Yo, wassup everyone!?” Mirio said cheerfully, he had a crate of quart beer bottles under one arm, and a regular twelve pack under the other. He sat the large crate down effortlessly on the kitchen counter.
WOW that’s a lot of beer!
“What’s going on Small Might?” The blonde chuckled as he tousled Izuku’s hair. He passed him the box. “This is for you.”
“Thanks so much Mirio!” the green eyed boy said, looking up and flashing his friend a smile. Eyes glinting a little bit with excitement. Now that he was there, he was much more relaxed to the idea of casual drinking.
Mirio straightened up, satisfied, then gave Izuku an affectionate slap on the back. “Now the party really begins!”
