Work Text:

The final bell for the day rang and Aizawa watched as Class-1A filed out, some running, others taking their time. Eventually, they had all gone. Aizawa sighed and turned to leave as well.

“Mr. Aizawa?” A timid voice made him turn around. What looked like a floating school uniform was the sight that greeted him. This didn't surprise him, however.

“Is there something the matter, Hagakure?”

“Um, y-no, b-but I…I uh, wanted t-to-”

“I don’t have all night,” Aizawa told her.

She audibly swallowed and took a deep breath in. “I don’t wanna be Invisible Girl anymore!” Hagakure blurted out.

Aizawa blinked slowly and motioned for her to go on.

“R-right! I just-I don’t want to be a hero if it means traipsing around naked! I mean, I just think I can do so much better if I did something else! Here, I have a few ideas!” She rummaged around in her book bag and pulled out a pink notebook. Hagakure flipped through the pages and stopped at one marked in bullet points with practically ineligible chicken-scratch.

“L-look! I thought that instead of having me…you know…I could have a costume made of my DNA, like Togata’s is! One that can turn invisible with me! Like I could have a control panel for invisibility on my arm! A-and I could have elbow pads and knee pads! Do you know how many times I’ve scraped my elbows or knees during training, Mr. Aizawa? It hurts, like a lot! Oh, and I can have boots that muffle my footsteps, so I can be super stealthy! And my costume can still help me refract light! And-”

“Alright, stop talking.” Hagakure immediately fell silent.

Aizawa continued. “You've clearly put a lot of thought into this. To change so much about your identity as a Hero is best for when you’re in training. If you think this will make you a better Hero, then I suggest talking with Power Loader and we’ll see about making this a reality.”

“Really?” Hagakure squealed. “Oh, this is gonna be awesome! Thanks so much, Mr. Aizawa!”

Aizawa shrugged. “Just be precise in telling the Support Department what you want, and if they have any ideas to improve your costume, listen to them before saying no. It’s your costume, and no one knows better what works for you than you, but you never know.”

“Okay! Bye, Mr. Aizawa!” Hagakure lifted an arm, probably waving, and she skipped out of the classroom. Aizawa heard her footsteps echo down the hall and he chuckled quietly. He really should stop getting so attached to these kids. They were going to be amazing Heroes someday. One day, Hagakure would make her mark on the world where everyone could see.

Notes:

This needed to be done. Hagakure deserves better. I've seen all these redesigns for Momo's costume, but everyone ignores what should be the most obvious choice for a costume redesign: Hagakure! She doesn't even have an actual costume! No protection from the weather or villains, not to mention how awkward it must be for her! Ugh, I just needed to rant for a moment. Remember, if you enjoyed, leave kudos or a comment. Criticism is always accepted. Hope you have a nice day/night!
