Work Text:

“What happened?” Hitoshi observed the scene before him. Hatsume was repeatedly hitting her forehead against the metal door of the lab, groaning things like “my babies,” and “stupid Power Loader”. She was covered in soot and grease and looked like she was going to pass out if she stayed awake for five more minutes.

“Power Loader locked me out,” she explained in a deadpan, her lips pulled into a frown. “Said he wouldn’t let me back in until I rested. Psh, he acts like my parents.”

“How long have you been cooped up in there?” Hitoshi asked, anxious of the answer.

“Roughly three days, sixteen hours, twenty-three minutes-” Hatsume interrupted herself with a yawn. “-and forty seconds. Give or take.”

Hitoshi pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. “You’ve gotta stop doing this, Hatty. It’s not healthy. Here, I brought you a PB&J sandwich and some chocolate milk from the cafeteria. Eat it.”

“I’m not hungry,” Hatsume said, pushing the food away. "Genius doesn't run on PB&J." Then she perked up, eyes widening.

“Shinsou! Your Quirk!”

“What about it?”

Hatsume laughed like a mad scientist in one of those old movies. Shinsou could practically see the lightning flashing behind her. “Order me to sleep! I just need a power nap, then I can get back to work! Just a two-hour nap! Please, Shinsou!”

Hitoshi groaned. “Seriously? You need to actually sleep, and that’s not even mentioning how much you need a shower and to eat something.”

Hatsume pouted. “Shinsou, please? For me?”

He heaved a long, suffering sigh. “Fine.”

Hatsume clapped her hands together and cheered. “Thank you! You’re my hero!” Hitoshi rolled his eyes fondly. “Whatever, Hatty. Ready?”

“Hell yeah!” she responded. She felt a cool sensation wash over her as her consciousness took a backseat.

The next day, Hatsume came into the lab, where Hitoshi was waiting for her. She stalked over to him and threw herself at him, half-heartedly punching his chest.

“You jerk,” she groaned. “I asked for a short nap.” She gestured at her new, clean clothes. “Not this.”

Hitoshi ran a hand through his purple hair, a small smirk on his face. “Sorry, Hatty. It had to be done.”

“And eight hours of sleep! Plus a healthy breakfast and a long bath! How could you betray me like this, Shinsou? I trusted you!”

He leaned down and pulled Hatsume into a hug, patting her head. “Excuse me for caring about one of the only friends I have.”

Hatsume scoffed. “Oh come on, you’ve practically been adopted by Midoriya and Class-1A. They adore you. Why else would they let you hang out with them as much as you do? Mr. Aizawa has totally added you to his line of ducklings.”

Hitoshi gaped at her. Hatsume grinned and shook her head. “Honestly, you’re so oblivious sometimes.”

“I’ll keep that in mind the next time you ruin the lab because something caught fire and you didn’t notice.”

“Ugh, it happens five times and you’re branded for life as That Girl.”

Notes:

I love these two. I just want to see more of them interacting with other characters. I think they'd have a pretty interesting relationship. Do I ship it? No, but do I think they'd be adorable besties? Yes. If you think Shinsou isn't a total mom friend once he gets used to people, I will fight you behind Denny's at three am. (I'd probably get my butt kicked, but you know.) If you enjoyed this, leave kudos or comment! Until we meet again, my dears.
