“You should take a shower at my place since it's closer, Ochaco is there, she can take some of my clothes to borrow you.” Midoriya says while sitting next to his friend giving him a cup of coffee. “Momo will be worried if she wakes up and you're a mess like this.” A brief moment of silence goes by before Todoroki speaks “I can't leave here alone, I need to be here when she wakes up…” he can't hold back his feelings, fear, anger, helplessness, he needs her. He needs to see her smile every morning when they wake up together, he needs to hear her laugh when he tells a stupid joke that only she would get it, he needs to look at her in the eye and say how much he loved her, how much he needs her. They started living together three years ago after they got engaged, then they got married one year later and ever since their first night together he can't even imagine a life without her, without the woman he loves since high school, he needs his wife.
His thoughts are interrupted by the doctor walking in the waiting room “Mister Todoroki?” Shoto immediately stands up. “Miss Todoroki is…” “Yaoyorozu! Please, she has my last name but she likes to be called by her last name” the hero says interrupting the doctor. “I'm sorry, Miss Yaoyorozu is stable now, she lost a lot of lipids in a small window of time due to her quirk, but she just needs to rest for now.” The hero is now holding back his tears, she's okay, she's gonna be okay, and his happiness is interrupted by a news that will change him forever “But there's one downside that I need to discuss with you….”
-Hours earlier-
“Dinner is ready, you wanna eat now?” Todoroki says peeking his head out of the kitchen door so his voice can be heard. “Maybe I should wait a little and finish reading this before eating.” Momo responds without taking her eyes of the book she was reading for a few hours. “You're taking a little break because you need to think of yourself too, not just the hero you” Todoroki says while placing two bowls of soba on the table for them. She doesn't remember exactly when they started to split the days where each one will cook for the other, it doesn't have a pattern either she just assumed that they are taking care of each other and that's pretty much it. Shoto can look like a cold hearted person, a “cold hero” as some people say out there but actually he's just a person that went through tough times and it just means that he can't fake his feelings, if he likes you he really likes you, and as she can feel everyday, his love is pure and genuine.
“Is there something wrong Momo?” He asks her snapping her back to reality. “N-No I'm just thinking.” She responds taking her books away so she can eat. “You've been spacing out more and more ever since last month without mentioning the extra shifts you're taking… I'm just worried.” He says reaching for her her hand, the touch is soft and warm calming her heartbeat, she feels safe. The dinner went normally, they talked, they kissed and ended up on the couch where they fell asleep together.
Momo woke up first with her phone ringing, it was a call from Midoriya's assistant saying there was an emergency downtown and they needed everyone asap “We'll be right there!” After saying that Todoroki wakes up and she explains the situation and they're out in no time.
The place was a complete warzone, they could hear Bakugou's explosions and could see Dark Shadow helping civilians escape from a building neat by. Todoroki looks at his wife “We're gonna go home together?” he asks “Like we always do!” She responds, they always do this right before going to the action, it's their own way to tell each other to be careful. And without hesitation the hero rushes off to where Bakugou is to help and Momo goes to the building to help the civilians.
Hours pass and they're still far from over, the giant villain looks like a humanoid dog and it's not alone he has several “servants” that seems to focus only on harming the civilians. Todoroki is with Bakugou, Iida, Midoriya, Mina and other pro-heroes taking care of the big guy, while Momo, Tokoyami, Tsuyu and Kirishima are protecting the civilians and fighting the servants. After helping and creating a lot of weapons to help other heroes she starts to feel her quirk taking a turn on her ‘you can't give in now, they need you!’ she thinks to herself. “Everyone, I'm gonna go around this block to make sure no one was left behind!” She announced to her co-workers and runs back, the street is empty but not quiet since the battle is happening nearby, as she walks down the street she can hear someone screaming and runs in the direction of the sound, as the heroine gets closer she discoverers that the civilian is a reporter and he's not alone, there's at least 8 reporters hiding inside a restaurant. “I'm so glad you came back Creati! We just wanted to get closer to the action so we'll have exclusive images but now we're hiding from the villain's servants” a young reporter says. “Next time please respect the police isolation guys. Let's go!” Momo says escorting the small group to a safe place but they are brutally interrupted by a flaming object that fell from the sky blocking their way out of the restaurant that's now on fire. The hero Creati knows she's weak from overusing her quirk but she can't let civilians die like that so she starts to create a big fireproof blanket to keep everyone safe from the flames while she instructs everyone to put tissues on their mouths to prevent smoke intoxication. She feels every drop of energy being drained for her creation, as she looks at the people around her they all seem worried they know she can't take it anymore they know what's gonna happen if she finishes that protection, but no one can change her mind. “You guys be safe and live a good life ok?” She says before everything is blacked out…
-Now-
After a very long conversation, Midoriya finally convinces Todoroki to take a shower at his place, Uraraka gives him clean clothes to change, and the whole time he couldn't think of anything else but the doctors words “How I'm going to tell her?” He whispered to himself while going back to the hospital.
Minutes seems like hours, days but he's not gonna leave her side, looking at the clock 12:30 PM, seven hours since the villain attack and she's been around three hours unconscious, according to the doctor and the nurse assigned to take close care of her she should wake up at any time now so he decided to rest his head on the side of the bed while holding her hand.
Todoroki feels a warm familiar touch caressing his hair and he just can't hold back the tears of joy, lifting his head to meet the most beautiful grey eyes staring at him. Without holding back she hugs her husband feeling her body being filled with joy as she feels the warm of his body against hers. “I thought I'd lost you Momo” She comfort him kissing his cheek “I'm right here now Shoto” another kiss, now on the lips and they can both feel the urge, and the feeling of relief, they are safe now, they have each other close again and they're not going anywhere.
“What happened?” Yaoyorozu asks, and her husband take a deep breath before responding looking directly at her eyes. “You overused your quirk trying to save those reporters and passed out, one of them brought you under the fireproof blanket. While Bakugou and I were finishing with the villain and Midoriya noticed a burning building and went to check for civilians, he was able to break into the building and taking everyone away from the flames including you. He called to me and I took you in my arms to the hospital….” The hero can't help the tears again “I thought I'd lost you Momo, I thought I lost my wife… but the doctors said you passed out because of the exhaustion but if I was few more minutes late...” His mismatching eyes met hers as she lifted his chin up “But you weren't, I'm here now and…” “Momo,there's something else too… about you're quirk” a weird silence takes the room by surprise while Shoto is gathering his words. He doesn't know how to say this without crying like a little girl but he has to say it anyway. “You can't use your quirk, at least not for a period of time…” The woman is now shaking with the news she just received, was she hurt that bad?? Did she really needed to do all that? “If you use your quirk, we'll lose the baby” Her eyes light up as tears fill her eyes. “But they said I couldn't get pregnant as a side effect of my quirk” Todoroki takes her hand a place both his and her hand on her stomach. “It's true, the doctors discovered while examining you, approximately 4 weeks. That's why you were so exhausted after using your quirk too much, your body was trying to protect the baby. You're amazing, I love you so much” Momo still couldn't believe in the words she was listening from her husband.
“Were gonna be parents!” She finally said after a moment, giving Todoroki a bright smile to show the happiness they both felt.
