The anime convention you always loved going to was just a week away, and you literally couldn’t contain your excitement about it. Seriously, you were gushing about it to your boyfriend and your friends as the four of you were trying out this “double date” business that seemed to be a thing you do with your friends who are also dating.
“You mean the one just north from here?” you saw Deku’s eyes light up as you immediately blurted the name of the convention, “I’ve been to that a couple of times! This year they’re going to have my favorite VA be their guest!”
“No freaking way!” you squealed, knowing exactly who he was talking about. That voice actor was also someone who you admired, their work you’ve seen in a lot of dubs from your favorite shows.
“You definitely need to come down with me on Saturday at least,” you added, “at least to go see his guest panel.”
“Actually, me and Uraraka already purchased our weekend badges already,” Deku replied, looking over his girlfriend as he spoke, “we’ve been planning to go for a while.”
“We also asked Iida if you two could come along with us,” Uraraka added, giving your boyfriend some major side eye, “but something tells me he hasn’t asked yet. ”
“I-I was planning to ask her after this!” Iida stuttered, his hands slightly up in defense, “you had just mentioned this earlier this week!”
Uraraka quickly backed off and gave Iida a playful smile, “Well, looks like she’s already going so there’s no stopping this hype train!”
While Uraraka was making gestures like an engineer in a steam train, you continued to play with your food for a bit more before gaining to courage to ask the three of them the question that was slowly churning in your gut.
“So…will any of you be cosplaying for it?”
“I had something planned for it, but…” Deku replied sheepishly, “Uraraka wants to do a couple cosplay.”
“Ahhh,” you smirked, blushing at the thought of how cute the two would look. “what did you guys have in mind?”
“No idea!” Uraraka cheered with a defeated fist in the air.
You giggled and decided to save the day by giving them some ideas for what couple cosplays they could do, especially ones they could do in such a time crunch. The two of them liked one of your recommendations and Deku was quick to get on his phone to look up the characters and figure out some thrift stores they could go to piece together the cosplays.
“Say, since we’ll be doing one you and Iida should do one too!” Uraraka grinned, causing you and Iida to nearly spit-take your meals.
“Aw, c’mon! Just think how cute you two would be together!”
Blushing, you rolled your eyes at Uraraka dismissively, “First of all, we’re already cute together.”
“(Y/N),” Iida said, even the tips of his ears were pure red. You laughed as you squeezed his hand gently under the table.
“Secondly, I have no idea what cosplay we could do.”
“Really?” Uraraka glared at you suspiciously.
“Yes.”
“Absolutely no idea?”
“Not a damn clue.”
You may be a good actor, but you’re a terrible liar. Finally, the pressure of Uraraka’s knowing gaze got to the best of you and you had to look away, but when your gaze then set on Iida beside you…
Damnit, he’s so pretty.
“Okay, okay,” you groaned, trying your best to hide your embarrassment, “I may have a few ideas.”
You had many. But time was an issue if you two were going to do something like that. Then again, was that something Iida even wanted to do with you? Sure, he knew you liked anime—hell there were some you were able to get him to watch and he ended up liking them—but would he really be willing to throw on a wig and crazy clothes just to walk around with you with strangers also in wigs and crazy clothes? Oh god, what if someone tries to glomp him?!
Remembering you weren’t in the early 2000s anymore (hopefully), you looked over at your boyfriend with pink dusting your cheeks slightly.
“But I don’t want to pressure Iida into it if he doesn’t want to,” you mumbled, your chest feeling a little tight as you watched him cautiously for his response. When he smiled at you softly it did help relieve that pain a bit, though.
“I wouldn’t mind,” he replied, “but what ones did you have in mind?”
“Well…”

Even though time was not in your favor, you were able to piece a really quick and somewhat obscure cosplay together for you and Iida. Luckily for Iida, he didn’t need to put on a wig and the two of you were able to find some red frames for him to wear with his semi-casual clothes. As for you, one short blonde wig and a pair of shutter shades later, the two of you were cosplaying from an abridged series on the internet that you absolutely loved to pieces.
The two of you arrived at the con and made yourselves comfortable at the hotel room just a few hours before you met up with Deku and Uraraka. The two’s cosplay was so much cuter than you and Iida’s, in your personal opinion. Still, the idea that you were dressed in a couple cosplay with your boyfriend for the first time was a whole new feeling of its own. It was like heaven with cotton candy clouds and liquid rainbows coloring the bright teal sky.
You were surprised to see that people actually knew what you and Iida were cosplaying, getting caught to take a couple of photos together for them while waiting in line for your badges. Iida was hesitant at first, you knowing that he wasn’t always one for PDA, but you were able to coax him to at least wrap an arm around your waist and smile into people’s phone cameras with you.
“Do people often do this?” Iida had whispered to you after your guy’s third picture.
“Well, yeah.” you replied, holding his hand firmly as you waited in line, “but you’re always allowed to say no, okay?”
“Okay…”
Once the four of you got badges, it was time to really enjoy the panels, vendors, and even just walking around the convention center connected to the hotel you were staying at. People were constantly you four for pictures; it was making you feel absolutely flattered. Sure, you had cosplayed before and had gotten pictures before, but this was a whole new level.
And what was even more special was you were able to share this experience with Tenya Iida , the love of your life…
At one particular point, one of your photo takers were absolutely losing their shit with how cute you and Iida looked, and you looked over at Iida and smiled while multiple photos were being taken by this person. Once Iida had caught your gaze, it wasn’t long before he had dipped you slightly, giving you a deep kiss that not only made your guys’ “fangirls” melt.

Later that day you and Iida decided to go out to dinner, of course after you both removed the cosplays clean off and dressed up in casual “normie” clothing. During your date, you had asked how Iida was enjoying himself at the convention, to which he replied with much appreciation.
“Really?”
“Yeah,” Iida replied, his eyes softening as he gazed into yours, “I really like it, it’s...really nice to show you off.”
“You mean you liked the couple cosplay?”
“Yes. I’d like to...do it again sometime.”
With a big toothy grin, you reached out for Iida’s hand and gave it a squeeze, “Me too!”
