Chapter Text
The sun was high up in the sky as they traveled up the stream in the boat. It was just Giorno and him outside of the turtle right now. Bruno, Trish, Abbacchio and Narancia had all turned in to rest as they sailed away from where Fugo had been left behind. It was quiet, Giorno keeping watch while Mista rowed the boat. He looked up at the boy, a small smile forming on his face at the sight of him.
Their fight against white album had made Mista realize the truth about his own feelings. He had fallen for Giorno… and he had fallen hard. He never would have expected to feel so strongly about someone he had only just recently met. It was almost a little bit scary. But it wasn’t really all that surprising, Giorno definitely was something else entirely. Everything about him was so absolutely amazing. From how brilliant and confident he was, to how amazingly pretty he always managed to look. There was absolutely no failing with Giorno by his side.
Both of them were alone for now… this could be his chance to try and bring it up. His one chance to try and find out if there was any chance whatsoever of them getting together, of Giorno returning his feelings. “H-hey, Giorno? I have… something to tell you,” Mista said, feeling his heart beat fast and loud in his chest.
Giorno turned to face him immediately, eyes focused on to him. It was overwhelming to be under that gaze at times. “What is it, Mista?” His voice was soft and calm, as usual.
“I…” he faltered, biting his lip as he tried to calm his nerves. This was fine. He had it all under control. Mista took a deep breath, looking straight at Giorno’s gorgeous green eyes. Oh no.
“Are you okay?” Giorno asked, glancing around them. “Is there a stand nearby?”
Mista shook his head quickly. “No! No… uh. I’m fine. Everything’s okay.”
Giorno frowned at him, but it wasn’t angry, he looked more confused than anything else. “Then… what is it? What’s up?”
“I just…” He racked his brain for the right thing to say, the best possible way to pour out his feeling onto the other man. “I think you’re… really cool.” Giorno’s frowned turned into a confused smile, and he stared at Mista expectantly, as if waiting for him to add something to what he was going to say. “I like you.”
Giorno laughed at this, though it was brief. It was the most beautiful sound Mista had ever heard, even if it had been directed at his confession. “Ah… Thank you? You’re a pretty cool guy too, Mista.” After this, he retook his previous position of keeping watch and that was the end of that conversation.
Mista stared after him, feeling his heart grow heavy at the unusual, but expected rejection. He sighed, going back to rowing the boat and desperately trying to pretend none of this had happened.
