Katsuki knew full well how angry he could be at times...well actually most times if he was being honest. He never really meant for things to turn out the way that they did. He just got excited when he got his quirk and everyone started to look up to him. Then he made that stupid mistake in middle school and it spiralled downwards, turning him into the silent type he was today. If angry mumbling could be considered silent that was.
He just wished someone would have warned him before about how stressful this was all going to be. He had group therapy, one on one therapy, doctors appointments, school, and his own plans to worry about. It was driving him up the wall.
Even now as he sat in the lunchroom, friends chatting amongst themselves, Katsuki was silent as he thought about what he would tell his therapist today. His thoughts were quickly interrupted when he heard a voice calling out his name.
“Katsuki!” Eijiro snapped his fingers impatiently to try and get his friends attention. “bro I’ve said your name like six times” He laughed and rolled his eyes. “No biggy though I know you’ve been busy in your thoughts. Anyway, though we were planning to hang out at the mall after school today. I could pick you up from your appointment if you want to come with us”
Katsuki ran his fingers through his hair and rolled his eyes. “I don’t think that's the best plan. I tend to be in a pretty shitty mood after my appointments.” He muttered, looking at his food. He hadn’t really touched it, he realised and figured he should probably eat at least some of it so he could make it through the last half of the day without being hungry. He took a few bites before looking at Eijiro again.
Eijiro looked almost hurt but gave a toothy smile anyway. “No problem, bro. I can still pick you up and drop you off if you want me to. So you don’t have to ride in the car with your mom after that”
Katsuki sighed heavily and grumbled. He couldn’t wait until he was 18 so he could drive himself around “Yeah I guess if you don’t mind. I don’t want to keep you from the rest of them though” he muttered.
Eijiro shook his head and shifted to sit closer to him. “I have to pick them up anyway so I can pick you up first and then drop you off before I pick them up. Comes with having the cool parents who drive me around a bunch.” He laughed. “They’ll drive us to the mall after we drop you off but if it makes you feel more confident in it I can text them first, but I promise they won’t care”
Katsuki rolled his eyes and nodded. “I mean I would really prefer you ask them but I have to make sure it’s okay with my mom too so that really shouldn’t be that surprising” he muttered. He finished what he planned to eat of his food and pushed the plate forward. He didn’t want to be a bother to Eijiro and his family but he really wasn’t sure he wanted to hear his mom’s round of a million questions tonight either. So he would agree to at least get picked up. Maybe even agree to the mall if it meant he got away from going home.
Eijiro nodded and smiled “just let me know before we leave today and I’ll text you what my mom says” he looked up when the bell rang and stood. “Talk to you later, Katsuki” he waved before cleaning up after himself and heading to class.
Katsuki rolled his eyes and stood, cleaning up his mess and heading to class. “He said goodbye as if they wouldn’t see each other in the next class.” He muttered as he walked to class. He sat down in his seat and started to sketch with a huff in his notebook. He took the notes he was meant to and paid attention well enough but he was silent and didn’t participate like he usually would.
Therapy was probably the most boring it had ever been. Since it was only a one on one today he had to actually make an effort to tell her about his day and it was not much to tell. He was quiet today so there wasn’t much to talk about. He mentioned the offer to go to the mall with his friends and she was, of course, disappointed in him for declining.
“It’s important to hang out with other people. It will help you understand how to act around them. Plus the more you hang out with your friends the more you will feel comfortable opening up to them about your doubts and insecurities. Since you still won’t talk to me about them”
Katsuki only huffed angrily. “I don’t have any doubts to talk about. Sometimes I just get angry and some times I just get sad it has nothing to do with doubt or insecurity” he snapped. He crossed his arms over his chest and glared at the wall.
“Well then show me that by hanging out with them” She responded, pulling out a notebook and scribbling down a note. “You have homework. If not today, then before our next session at some point I want you to hang out with at least one friend for the day, bond and enjoy yourself. Then tell me all about it at our next appointment, okay? If you can do that for me I’ll write you a pass to skip a week.”
Katsuki was going to scoff and ignore the request until she mentioned that if he did it she would write him off for a week. He could really use a week to himself and to be able to skip a therapy session for one of them? That would make it a lot easier to relax.
“Alright fine. I’ll go with them to the mall today” he muttered. He pulled out his phone and opened their group chat, figuring they would all like to know he would be tagging along.
‘I guess I’ll tag along tonight but if you don’t get me home in time for dinner I’ll kick all of your asses at once’
He showed the phone to her then stood up to leave her office.
‘Nice! I’m here already outside so I’ll just let my mom know we are heading to pick up Denki next!’
Katsuki rolled his eyes and handed her the money his mom gave him for this session before heading back out and climbing into the back seat of the car. “Hey is there room for everyone in here?” he asked, noticing that the car only had two more open seats and the group they usually hung out with had three more people to it.”
“Oh yeah! Mina couldn’t come she had other plans with Momo and Ochaco so it’s just us boys today!” Eijiro responded with a chuckle. “Mom has a bigger car too we just only brought this one since we already knew she couldn’t come” he chuckled.
“Mmm makes sense I guess” Katsuki muttered before burying his face in his phone. He’d hang out with them at the mall, for now, he could play on his phone and let his mom know about his plans.
When the group arrived at the mall, Eijiro thanked his mom excitedly before heading inside. He led them all inside and sat down on the couches in the center to talk to them before they went off.
“Okay so since Katsuki decided to come in the end things have to change a bit from the original plan” he smirked. He turned to Katsuki with a bright smile. “We have a surprise for you that we planned out in case you did come along.” He looked over at Sero and Denki with a smirk. “These two have to go take care of a few things first then we’ll show you.”
Katsuki could feel the regret almost instantly when he heard what he was talking about. This wasn’t just some normal trip to the mall. They actually had plans. That meant he had to actually put effort into hanging out with them.
Eijiro hummed as he didn’t hear any objection. He could, of course, see it but he didn’t say anything so that meant it was time to proceed. He stood up and led him to a store to distract him from the set up that Denki and Sero had to go through with. Fortunately for him, his mom had a friend who owned one of the stores so they could do it in there without the mall getting upset at them.
After what felt like hours, Katsuki was finally allowed to follow Eijiro back to the rest of the group and what he saw was both confusing and endearing all at once.
“So we don’t really have this thing here but I was talking to All Might after class and he told me about this really cool thing that they have in America called Prom and we wouldn’t technically be able to go to it yet but my mom’s friend can play some nice music so we could dance. I know this is a really shit way to confess to you but I really like you, Katsuki and I was hoping maybe you would dance with me?” Eijiro’s face was a bright red and Katsuki would be lying if he tried to say his own wasn’t also pretty red.
“You’re a fucking dumbass this is why you wanted me to come to the mall with you? For a dance?” Katsuki rolled his eyes as he gently held out a hand for him. “Fine then but if you step on my toes, I’ll blow you backwards”
Eijiro only laughed as he took Katsuki’s hand to pull him close and into a gentle dance. “Promise?”
