Supersnowest AU

When Kara joins CatCo as Cat Grant’s second PA and hears the rumors about how Iris stood up to Cat - informing Cat her workload was enough for at least two people and somehow forcing Cat to create another position - Kara doesn’t doubt it. Iris is formidable and organized, she learns so much from her. Over time they become an amazing team, and Iris, her best friend. Kara loves her job and couldn’t imagine it any other way.

Once she saves Alex’s plane and becomes a hero, she knows she has to tell Iris. Sooner or later Iris would figure out the truth and she really needs someone on her side. Iris is quick to suggest outside help from someone she knows at Tannhauser-Snow Industries, someone she is certain will be able to aid them and not give away her secret.

Enter Dr. Caitlin Snow, who takes the news she’s an alien with calm acceptance. Caitlin starts mumbling under her breath as she writes down a list of tests, excitement building and Kara worries she’s just a scientific curiosity to her, but she’s relieved when Caitlin adds “If this is okay with you? Anything you don’t want to do, just say so.” She understands then why Iris trusts her, it’s clear she does care about not just science but people too.

Dr. Snow is a big help in understanding her powers. A backup to the DEO when she needs more personal support. The one problem is, she sees how Caitlin and Iris look at each other. Just old friends, they say. Older friends than her and Iris, which starts to bristle at Kara, especially with their in-jokes. It doesn’t feel like it’s that simple to Kara. And Kara doesn’t feel like it’s that simple between her and Iris either. Right now, things work though. So things stay the same, thankfully. At least what she’s got – friendship, the team - is good to have and it will have to be enough.

If anyone had told Cisco five years ago that he’d be dating Hartley Rathaway, he would’ve laughed them out of the room.

If anyone had told Cisco even two years ago that he’d also be dating Barry Allen, he would’ve asked them what Earth they came from.

The fact that he’s dating them both is surreal, some weird unforseeable consequence from a spiral of events that led them here. It’s also what makes things even worse knowing he might have lost them. At least they’ll have each other to lean on without him…so long as the timeline is kept intact.

Hartbarrisco - chess AU

Hartley was once a promising young chess prodigy, whose life, unbeknownst to most, has been slowly unraveling. When his mentor, and only real ally left, forsakes him - in favor of other up and coming chess players who catch public attention far better - Hartley is emotionally crushed at first. But then he doubles down on his ambitions to climb to the very top of competitive chess leagues; to earn the money he needs now he’s been disowned, and to prove to everyone his worth once and for all

The problem with that is, Barry Allen and Cisco Ramon keep beating him - he’s never out of their shadows. Barry is fast and has an intuitive talent that Hartley struggles to comprehend. Cisco’s just as good in his own way, though a much more technical player. What gets to Hartley is that Cisco is much more interested in building a chess playing AI, that Barry is helping train - Cisco has all that skill but doesn’t even love the game the same way Hartley does.

And to add insult to injury, Eobard has thoroughly instructed them on Hartley’s weaknesses, leaving him at a distinct disadvantage. Still, Hartley keeps coming back to play them, a challenge he can’t ignore if he wants to be the best. Each time he’s laying himself bare and open to their scrutiny. With a worthy opponent seated across from him he at least feels less alone in the world for a time. He doesn’t expect to form any kind of attachment, but perhaps it was inevitable, when love and hate are so closely entwined, that his passion would express in other ways.
