Don't worry Chapter 2 is coming out soon!

There was only one thing that Midoriya felt.

And that was pain.

Ever since he was diagnosed as quirkless at 4, everything seemed to go downhill. Even his own mother stopped believing in his dreams. In a world of quirks, he was useless.

From the very beginning, Midoriya was told that he couldn't do anything. That he wouldn't amount to anything. Ostracized by his classmates, Midoriya only felt pain. Even his former friend, Bakugou Katsuki, abandoned him and turned into his largest tormentor. Every day was hell.

At age 4, his father left.

At age 5, his mother lost hope.

At age 6, he lost Katsuki.

And at age 14, he lost hope.

Sulking through every day had become the norm for Izuku. The timid boy, used to the abuses by his peers, now only held love for few things. Those things being Heroes, and of course, family. Izuku loved his mother dearly, no matter how much it hurt that she would never support his dream to become a hero. But even if his aspirations were for naught, Izuku knew he was going to help people. and it all started on the day he met the Pro Hero: Eraserhead.

And the chronicle began something like this...

                              _______

Midoriya was strolling home, having been out to buy groceries for his mother. Izuku was suddenly thrown out of his thoughts when something loud boomed from a nearby alley way. Running to see what the commotion was, he accidentally tripped on a conveniently placed rock. Pulling himself back up, Izuku turned the corner. He gazed into the dark seeing two shady figures. One male and the other being female. That’s when he heard the man start to talk.

“Hey, babe, you know you should strip down.” The ugly bastard spoke while pushing his overweight body against her small frame. Following the statement he put a greasy hand on her shoulder and forced her against the wall. She whimpered, but refused to comply. The man was obviously drunk, which made his patience shorter. He tore off her shirt and held her with both arms.

“I’m going to make you my bitch.”

Izuku didn't know what happened but his legs started moving before he could think. He jumped right into the entrance of the ally. His mind was racing, thinking of every tactic and strategy he could conjure. Izuku threw his bag of groceries at the man. Knocking him off balance and catching him by surprise. The would-be-rapist turned towards Izuku with a great fury.

“What the fuck you little shit! This doesn't concern you!”

Izuku paid him no attention before proceeding to sprint towards the man. He attempted to throw himself at the man only to be grabbed and thrown onto the cold hard ground. Izuku curled on the ground gasping for air. The drunken bastard stalked over to the downed teen and proceeded to repeatedly kick him in the gut. As Izuku’s eyes closed, a large crash indicated the arrival of a fourth party. A person wearing all black jumped down from the roof of one of the buildings the ally was sandwiched between. The man couldn't be older than 30. He was dressed in black baggy pants, being held up by a thin utility belt. Moving up, a large grey scarf-like article surrounded the man's neck. Resting upon his face was a pair of yellow goggles with thin slits cut into them. The man grabbed the would-be-rapist and, using the momentum, threw the drunkard into the brick wall. Upon securing the drunkard in his weird scarf, he started examining the now crying woman. The police showed up and arrested the man.

Upon getting treated and examined by the medics there, Izuku started on his way home when a voice called out behind him. Turning around, Izuku was faced with the Pro Hero that saved the poor woman from being raped. His softer voice betraying his gruff appearance.

“Hey kid, are you all right?”

Scanning up and down, Izuku finally realized who he was talking to. The man before him was his idol. A beacon in the dark for Izuku’s dream, considering his circumstances. Before he knew it he started spouting off facts about the man before him.

“You are Eraserhead?! As in the underground hero known for stopping over 73 villains in the last year? Oh, and your quirk can erase other peoples quirks right? How does that work? I mean your hair rises when you do it, is that related to your quirk use? I mean I love your work. I am a huge fan. I-I mean I appreciate what you’re doing and ev-” The pro hero eventually cut him off. With visible surprise.

“Uhhh, yes. That’s me." Then muttering under his breath, “Damn media.”

Remembering the situation the hero went back into work mode.

“All that being said, What were you thinking?!? You could've seriously gotten hurt! I don’t care what type of quirk you have, it was incredibly stupid to have a kid run into a fight!”

Izuku muttered under his breath, “I don't have a quirk.”

The hero looked back down at Izuku, “What was that? I couldn’t hear you?”

Looking up Izuku spoke, louder this time, ”I don't have a quirk .”

At the sudden revelation the unkempt man looked down in embarrassment. Only muttering the words, “Oh.”

Izuku, also looking flustered, asked, “Even though I don’t have a quirk, can I still be a hero?”

Aizawa’s body became ridged. His thoughts debating between what to tell him, ‘The kid obviously has potential, he is intelligent and wants to help others but at what point do you stop them for their own safety? I mean a quirkless kid can be a liability more than an asset.’ But of course his other side brought up their own arguments. “I mean I essentially fight quirkless. All I do is level the playing field. In a fight between us, my quirk has no effect. So if the kid works hard he could become a fine hero.”. He was forced out of thoughts after hearing his name.

“Uhhh, Mr. Eraserhead?”

Looking down, Aizawa steeled himself before giving the kid the answer he had come up.

“Look kid, you know as well as I do, people lacking quirks are a large liability in the hero business. It could be seriously dangerous for someone without a quirk..-”

Something deep inside Izuku broke. Like his heart being crushed a million times over. It’s one thing for your peers to jeer at you, but when your idol tells you that your dreams can’t come true, it hurts even worse. Tears pricked on the edges of Izuku’s eyes as his dreams were just crushed by the one person he valued.

“- but  none of this means you can’t be a hero.”

Izuku’s tears kept flowing , but Izuku looked up confused.

“ Eh?”

Sighing, Aizawa just shook his head.

“Look kid, you have what it takes to be a hero. Whether you have a quirk or not, you can become a hero. Just train hard and try out for a hero school.” Turning his back, he started to walk away but stopped when our green-haired protagonist called out to him.

“Mr. Eraserhead sir, Hero Schools don’t allow the quirkless to apply.”

The hero realized his mistake and turned back to face the younger child.

“ What's your name kid?”

His eyes shining, Izuku replied quickly, “Izuku Midoriya sir!”

Thoughts racing through his mind. He cursed quietly, recognizing the family name of one of the most vicious lawyers in Musutafu. Once again, the two sides of his brain argued over a topic, though the topic being quite different.

‘This kid deserves the chance to prove his worth. He was dealt a shitty hand but was given a heart of gold. At the same time, what difference would a quirkless hero make? Surely a hero like that would just be cannon fodder.’ All the indecisiveness started to give him a headache. Sighing once more he made up his decision.  Oh how the universe must hate him right now. Once again he steeled himself for the conversation that will surely follow.

“Would you mind telling me where you live?”

“ I live in the Musutafu Prefecture near Aldera Junior High.”

“ I see…….. Would you mind taking me to your home? There are some things that I would like to discuss with Miss Inko.”

“Wait.. you know my mom?” At that Aizawa flinched, once again slipping up. ‘Jeez, I’m slipping up a lot today.’ Choosing his next words carefully, Aizawa continued, “ I, uh, do know your mother do to her…… extensive success in the courtroom.”

Izuku took a minute before replying, “ Oh, that makes sense. Well my home is about 3 kilometers away, are you sure you want to walk there?”

“I am.”

The two then started on the journey towards Izuku’s house. The hero resigning to his fate as Izuku fanboyed over his achievements. Continuing on and on, throwing out facts and statistics about the crime rate in his patrol areas.

Somewhere along the way, the kid pulled out a large notebook filled with everything from quirk usage to possible disadvantages. Aizawa couldn't help but be impressed with the thorough notes taken on one of the most reclusive heroes of the time. Even some of the points that were purely speculation were close to the truth.

Catching a glimpse of the cover  he saw the title, “Hero Analysis for the Future #13”.

Holy shit, the kid has 13 notebooks of notes on just heroes? How dangerous could that be if it got into the wrong hands? Furthermore, is it possible that Midoriya has an analysis quirk? These notes ARE quite thorough and extremely accurate. He may not know it, but some villains would kill for that information.’

The two continued walking, with Izuku still rambling and Aizawa just silently walking, hoping not to interrupt the young boy’s process.

After 15 minutes of walking, the two finally reached a small apartment complex with a large number 2 painted on the side of the main building. Walking up to the designated door, Aizawa gave 2 firm rapts on the door. Mamadoriya opened the door to find her son next to a tall scruffy man wearing a grey scarf. Looking at the man suspiciously, she asked, “ What is going on here?”

“Ma’am, I am the Pro hero: Eraserhead.” He bowed in some sybolence of respect before continuing.

“ Your son tried to stop a rapist from raping the victim which bought the heroes enough time to come and make the arrest.”

Contemplating over the words, Inko muttered, “ I see.” before bowing and thanking the man for helping her son. Inviting them in,  the three wandered into the living room. Aizawa then turned to Izuku,

“ Can you give a second to speak in private please?”

Izuku complied and marched to his room to clean up the scratches he got from his altercation with the rapist. Leaving just the two adults sitting in an awkward silence in the living room. Hoping to defuse the tension in the room Aizawa sighed before speaking.

“ I came here to ask for permission.”

That obviously was not what the lawyer was expecting. Her head tilted in curiosity, a signal for the pro hero to continue. Aizawa, his eyes full of determination, looked to the heavier set mom. He looked her right in the eye, and without hesitation, he claimed..

So this is the first chapter of what will hopefully be a story. This is my first writing on Ao3 and I just had an amazing time writing this first chapter. I had a ton of people support me. I even had some people on Epsi’s discord server help me with edits and grammar. Please note that while they did an amazing job, I am still looking for a semi-permanent Beta. a link to the discord can be found at the end of this author's   note. They are a bunch of cool people (not to mention people who wrote some of the most read MHA fanfics on this website). Hope you enjoyed reading the first chapter! Until next time.
