TANABATA’S NIGHT
“Hey!”
Giyuu turns the head toward his companion, waiting. Unusual orange hair slip on the kimono with yellowish-green geometric patterns, peeps a wide scar covering the right cheek — impressionable on first glance, but his big and sincere smile diverts any doubts.
“What did you write?” Sabito asks him, referring to the note hanged on a branch of the bamboo.
A lively and genuine smile appears on Giyuu’s face.
“I asked – he continues with a thrilled voice – to be able to beat the highest number of demons as possible.” Sabito’s smile bends sweetly.
“But above all… to remain always together as we are right now.”
The kimono – half red half with yellow and green figures – starts getting heavy on Giyuu’s shoulders the moment when, in a flash, the distant memory comes back, leaving him a bittersweet taste. His empty gaze becomes melancholy while his feet, driven by a sense of duty, with great willpower, drag him alone through the mountain’s paths, in the month of July.
