"You ever think about how awesome it is that we're basically riding on top of a singularity?"
Yoongi sniffed, rubbing at his nose and looked across the train car at Jungkook who had his nose pressed against the glass, trying to see the rail tracks under the train car. Which was impossible, of course, but Yoongi thought it was cute how Jungkook was so enamored with everything about the Uplift rail system. Well, all things quantum physics, not that Yoongi understood any of it.
"I don't really have any idea what a singularity is," Yoongi said, looking back down at his homework pad. "I'm a business major, not a science."
"But hyung," Jungkook groaned, looking back at him with that big, bright grin that he reserved just for Yoongi. "It's cool right? It's a black hole, and they turned it into a working rail system."
"Yes, it's really cool," Yoongi said. "It's been running for fifty years Kook, it's not like it's new or anything."
"That's why it's so cool, it's still running, and it'll run for the next thousand years even," Jungkook said, turning around to flop down onto one of the benches. "Only one accident in the history of the Uplift system. It's unheard of."
"You sound like a marketing ad," Yoongi snorted. "I'm trying to get this reading done before class Kook. I've got an exam and I really need to pass."
"College sucks," Jungkook wrinkled his nose. "You don't spend any time with me anymore."
"Yeah well, you'll know what it's like in a few months," Yoongi said, glancing up at him. "Because you're going to college, right Kook?"
Jungkook made a face, pulling a bouncy ball out of his pocket and started throwing it at the ceiling of the car. "Yes, hyung. I'm going to college. Not that I have any idea what I want to do."
"Whatever you do, you'll be great at it," Yoongi said. "You're really smart Jungkook. Do whatever you want."
Jungkook whined, sliding down in his seat. "But I don't know what. My mom wants me to be a doctor like my brother. My dad thinks I should go into politics. I just wanna be a professional skateboarder."
"If you became a professional skateboarder you'll be the biggest star since Tony Hawk," Yoongi said. "I'm serious, you'll do great no matter what it is. You could even study black holes and you'll master it in no time."
"Yeah right," Jungkook rolled his eyes. He sat up and swung around to lean his forehead against the window again. "You gotta admit, it's pretty cool though, hyung. Trains run by black hole. Whole power grid, run by black holes."
"Yeah Kook, it's really cool," Yoongi agreed, watching him with a smile. Jungkook glanced back at him, flicking his hair out of his eyes and smiled back. Yoongi felt his heart pick up slightly, as it usually did with Jungkook.
There was a bump, something insignificant and almost not worth thinking about but Yoongi felt dread creeping up in his throat.
"Yoongi?" Jungkook stood up, and then Yoongi blinked, the car exploded and Yoongi woke up with his ears ringing, staring up at the sky.
Yoongi stared up at the sky through the window of his Namjoon's pawn shop, scowling at the rain as it poured down in buckets.
"I hate rain week," Yoongi complained. "I'm always my busiest during rain week and it's depressing."
"You're busiest because the old ladies you do your psychic schtick for are depressed because they miss their dead husbands," Namjoon said behind him. "Be grateful for rain week, it pays your bills."
"I'm grateful on the first day, but by the fifth day everything is wet and musty and my rain coat has given up on repelling the rain," Yoongi said, turning around and making a face at Namjoon. "It sucks."
"Would you rather go back seventy years, when the weather wasn't regulated and it would just rain whenever it wanted?" Namjoon raised an eyebrow at him over his desk. "I couldn't even imagine how cranky you would be when it rained when you didn't want it."
"Not the point," Yoongi complained. He itched at the scar on his hand that always seemed to feel tighter during rain week. His doctor told him it was in his head, Yoongi told him he was an idiot.
"Maybe not, the point is you hate rain week for a different reason," Namjoon said, setting down his pen and looking at him. "And you can't argue with me because you know I'm right."
Sighing, Yoongi kicked a chair out from under Namjoon's desk and sat himself down in it. "It'll be five years next week," he said quietly. "Maybe you've got a point."
"I'm sorry, I didn't realize it was that close," Namjoon said. His tone was too sad, too sympathetic and it rankled at Yoongi. He didn't like talking about it. Didn't like that Namjoon even knew about it but fucking Seokjin had made sure everyone knew.
"It's fine," Yoongi shrugged. "Just means I'll be trying to do as much work as possible. Won't be around."
"You know, it's okay to say you just need some time alone," Namjoon said. "I'd understand. Everyone would understand. We know you miss-"
"Don't," Yoongi didn't even look, just pointed his finger at Namjoon. "Don't say his name. I don't want to think about it right now. That's for next week."
"Alright, fair enough," Namjoon said, holding up his hands. "I'll make sure to let everyone know you'll be unavailable next week. And I'll try to keep Jin out of your hair."
Yoongi laughed, the sound hollow and devoid of humor. "As if you can even talk to Jin without stumbling over yourself. He's going to be up my ass no matter what, it helps him feel better if he fusses over me. If I don't let him be a worried mother hen then he's going to call my mother and then my mother will call my shrink and then I'll be in a mandatory psychiatric hold. Again."
Rubbing his eyes, Yoongi could feel a headache coming. It was going to be a long day and he had so many appointments he was going to have to get through. He couldn't let this shit get to him right now. Next week.
The sound of the door bell had both of them turning towards the front of the store, seeing two giggly men stumbling in and heading towards them as they talked over each other. Yoongi was going to put his head through a wall.
"Hello Jimin, Taehyung," Namjoon said. "What can I do for you today?"
"Hi Namjoon, Yoongi," the shorter of the two said, climbing onto Jimin's lap and wrapping his arms around Yoongi's neck. Yoongi grumbled but didn't shove him off. If he did, Jimin would pout and dealing with a clingy Jimin was easier than dealing with a pouty Jimin. "Tae has some watches he found, he needs a price."
"Watches he found huh?" Namjoon snorted, waving Taehyung towards him. Taehyung hopped up to sit on Namjoon's desk, opening up his bag and dumping a collection of gold and silver watches and a few necklaces. "Shit, Taehyung, what did you do?"
Taehyung pushed his glasses up from his nose and into his blond hair. "Not me, Jimin. I was just holding the bag."
"Okay, Jimin, what did you do," Namjoon said, sorting out the watches. "Do I need to worry about serial numbers?"
"Nah, they're from an estate," Jimin said, braiding part of Yoongi's hair. "Knew one of the cleaners. Old guy didn't have any family so it was all gonna be auctioned. No paperwork cause it's predata chip stuff. Antiques."
"Antiques are harder to turn," Namjoon said, lips thinning. "But not impossible. I'll get you some numbers once I can get all this sorted out."
"No hurry," Jimin said, though he was looking at Yoongi. "What's the matter? You look like your dog died."
"Jimin," Namjoon warned under his breath. Yoongi knew Jimin didn't mean anything by it, he was just pretty tactless.
"It's fine Joon," Yoongi said, patting Jimin's thigh. "I should just tell everyone myself anyway."
Jimin's eyes did that big worried look that makes him look so delicate and cute. "Are you okay? What's going on? You're not dying are you?"
"I'm not dying," Yoongi rolled his eyes. "But next week is five years since the uh… the accident."
"Oh," Jimin immediately softened, and hugged Yoongi, nuzzling into his hair. "I'm sorry. Are you okay? You need anything?"
"Nah, I'm okay," Yoongi lied through his teeth. He didn't want Jimin worrying. Or Taehyung. Individually they were hard to handle but together they were a nightmare.
"Bullshit you are," Taehyung said, crawling up to sit on Jimin's lap and now Yoongi was squashed under the weight of two cuddly puppies. "We know you too well Yoongi, and we're not going to let you be sad."
Yoongi wasn't going to argue with them because it was just easier to put with them, but he gave Namjoon a flat look that said how he really felt about it.
The thing was, he knew Jimin and Taehyung were doing this out of the goodness of their twisted little hearts. Taehyung was his friend, they had met four years ago when Yoongi had still been recovering and was going to group counseling. Taehyung had been shopping marks at the different group meetings and somehow they ended up fucking in a storage closet. That started Yoongi in his life of conning widows and grievers out of their money.
Which is how he'd met Jimin. The cute, deceptively sexy Jimin had lost his husband at a young age and Yoongi had thought he'd be an easy mark. Turned out Jimin had been conning old men since he was a minor and was now a rich, spoiled, and devious con man that had both Yoongi and Taehyung in awe at how easily he'd made his fortune.
So, Yoongi knew Jimin had a big heart and cared about Yoongi, and he knew Taehyung would kill a man for Yoongi, but it didn't mean he wanted either of them to worry about him.
"It's okay, I'm gonna be fine," Yoongi said. "I'll just drink myself into a coma next week, same thing I do every year."
"But we don't want you to be alone," Jimin said, pouting at him. "Come to our place, we'll keep you plenty distracted."
"Yeah, plenty distracted," Taehyung grinned, tickling his fingers under Yoongi's chin.
It was an honest offer, and Yoongi considered it. How could he not? They were hot, it wouldn't be the first time, and sometimes good meaningless sex was better than soul crushing heartache. Sometimes. Just not on the anniversary of the death of his first love.
"No, I'd rather just be alone," Yoongi said. "You know how this goes, guys. Last two years I go home, hide in my room for a week, drink myself stupid and then I'll be back to my charming self after."
Jimin still pouted, but he didn't argue. Taehyung made a face and flicked him in the forehead. "Just don't drink yourself to death."
"I won't," Yoongi said, swatting his hand away.
The sound of the doorbell rang again and every head turned to see the stunning figure of a model type man walking through. He folded an umbrella and set it next to the door.
"I think that's our cue to head out," Jimin said, not hiding his grin. "Come on baby, we've got places to be."
"We do?" Taehyung blinked dumbly at him until Jimin pinched him in the side and he yelped before rolling off of Jimin's lap. "Oh, right! Places to see, people to be."
"Hello all!" the model was sauntering towards them, and Yoongi cast a glance towards Namjoon who was trying to clear off his desk and stand up at the same time but failing to do either without fumbling and making a mess.
"Hi Jin," Yoongi waved, kicking Jimin in the ass to get him to move out of the way. "How's life in the normal world?"
"Boring," Seokjin said, stopping next to Yoongi's chair and looking at him critically. "How's life in the seedy criminal side of the world?"
"It's raining," Yoongi motioned towards the window. "So, very busy."
"Yes, you look busy," Seokjin hummed, his eyes sliding towards Namjoon who was trying to look casual but he just looked uncomfortable. "Hi Joon."
"H-hey, Jin, how are you?" Namjoon grinned, trying to lean on his desk but his hand slipped and he nearly fell over.
"I'm great," Seokjin chuckled. "Was just coming to see if you had any tie clips? I have an important event I have to go to and I think I need a new one."
"Tie clip? Yeah, of course," Namjoon said, eagerly moving away from his desk towards the front counter.
Seokjin watched him walk away before turning back to Yoongi and narrowing his eyes at him. "I'm going to come live with you and Joon next week, okay?"
"You're gonna what?" Yoongi blinked at him. "Why?"
"Because I know what next week is and I'm not going to worry about you across town," Seokjin said lowly. "Joon gets all panicky about you and he calls me twenty times a day so I might as well sleep on your couch."
"Or in his bed," Yoongi muttered under his breath. He yelped when Seokjin smacked the back of his head. "Ow! Stop being such a bully."
"I'm not being a bully, I'm being your concerned best friend," Seokjin said. "Five years, Yoongi. That's a big deal."
"Yeah, I know," Yoongi sighed, closing his eyes. "I'm fine. I'll be fine."
Seokjin pat Yoongi's head gently, and he could hear the soft sigh. "I know. You will."
"Hey, uh, Jin? You wanna look at these?" Namjoon called from the front of the store.
"Yup," Seokjin gave Yoongi's head one last pat before heading towards Namjoon.
Yoongi sunk further into the chair and crossed his arms over his chest. Sometimes it wasn't worth having friends who were so concerned about him, but he supposed it was better than not having anyone. Seokjin was his oldest friend, they'd been roommates in college.
Seokjin was the only one who had known Jungkook. He'd been there through Yoongi's worst year of his life. When he'd nearly died. When he tried to kill himself, when he spent days crying on the floor of his bathroom and the year he'd tried to numb the pain with drugs and alcohol. Seokjin had been there, had picked him up, wiped his tears and kept him alive.
Of all the people in his life, Yoongi knew he could always count on Seokjin to keep him on his feet. He knew Seokjin would always be there for him, and sometimes he didn't understand why. But that didn't matter. When you care about someone, you didn't need a reason why.
"Hey, don't you have an appointment?" Namjoon called over to him.
Eyes snapping open, Yoongi pulled out his datapad and cursed. "Yeah, fuck, shit."
"Where you going this time?" Seokjin asked when Yoongi came shuffling through the shop, pulling his coat on.
"Some guy has this apartment he's trying to rent out but he says it's haunted," Yoongi said, pulling on his hood. "I don't usually do exorcisms but he's paying twice my usual rate."
"A haunting?" Namjoon chuckled. "Don't forget the sage. Burning sage is very important to get rid of ghosts."
"What the fuck is sage?" Yoongi made a face. "I'll be home for dinner Joon, so don't even try cooking."
"Wasn't planning on it," Namjoon sighed in resignation. "Hey uh, you want to come over for dinner tonight Jin?"
Yoongi held in a sigh, grabbing his bag from behind the counter. Another night of watching Namjoon try to flirt with Seokjin who feigned obliviousness. Watching those two dance around each other was amusing and annoying. He really wished they'd just fuck already and get it over with.
The worst part of this job being on the other side of town was that Yoongi had to take a taxi. Taxis were expensive, but it was way too far to walk. He didn't even consider the train.
Yoongi hated being in these newer, modern apartment buildings. All of them were on the grid, everything was powered by the singularity. Everything was powered by the singularity, but in the dingy part of town where he and Namjoon lived, it wasn't as obvious. There weren't as many interface pads. Light switches were still manual, appliances still had knobs and dials and there weren't any digital thermostats.
But this building, everything was digital. Everything was a reminder of the one thing he hated more than anything in the world. The fucking singularity. Yoongi stood awkwardly in front of the elevator, waiting for it to reach the ground floor. If he could have, he would take the stairs. But between the scars on his leg and the apartment he had to go to being on the thirtieth floor, there was no way he'd make it.
When the elevator arrived, Yoongi had to take a deep breath before stepping in. It would be okay. Stepping in and pressing the button, he stood as close to the door as possible, trying not to focus on the fact that there was no escape if there was an accident. His hand was shaking so bad when the doors opened he had to stop and lean up against the wall to calm himself down.
He hated this part of the job. Hated having to go to these fancy and expensive places. Maybe it's why he did what he did, and didn't care he was conning people out of money. They had plenty of it.
"So, tell me about what's going on?" Yoongi asked after the guy had let him into the apartment. It was a nice place, a little smaller than Yoongi had thought it would be. But if he had the money, and it was on the first floor, he'd have lived there.
"Well, the locks keep changing on their own," the landlord said. Yoongi blinked, wondering what kind of ghost changed locks. "And the neighbors say they can hear people talking all the time. Hear music. The lights are always on. I've had two people actually move in, but all their stuff ends up dumped out in the hall."
Yoongi was a little concerned, because it sounded more like there was a squatter than a ghost. He pulled out a candle and a tambourine out of his bag. "This sounds serious. Might even be a demon," Yoongi said, looking as serious as he could. "I'll have to charge more if it's a demon. Nasty fuckers."
"Sure, yeah, whatever," the landlord waved his hand, already engrossed in something on his phone. "Just get whatever it is out. This place has been empty for two years and the owners are getting pissed I can't get it rented out."
"Of course," Yoongi said, lighting the candle and setting it on the floor. "I'll have to ask you to leave though. You won't want to be here, you could get hurt."
"Hurt?" the guy looked up at Yoongi and his eyes widened. "It's that dangerous?"
"Oh yeah," Yoongi nodded slowly. He could hear a whisper in his year and he was trying to ignore it. He really wasn't up for a real ghost. "Ghosts, spirits, they don't want to leave. They get attached to a place. I've been scratched and hit before."
"No shit?" the landlord looked around warily. "Okay, um, I'll be downstairs? Just let me know when you're done." He left like he had an actual ghost on his ass and Yoongi just barely stopped himself from cracking up.
"Shit, this is too easy," Yoongi said, shaking the tambourine in his hand, just in case the guy was out in the hall still. He walked around the apartment, feeling a weird sensation crawling up his spine.
"Yoongi?"
Whirling around, Yoongi dropped the tambourine and backed up towards the wall. "Hello?" he called, the sound echoing through the empty room. The door was still closed. No one had come in. And that voice…
"Yoongi!"
"What the fuck," Yoongi whispered. It wasn't far to the door. If he ran, he could make it.
"Yoongi? Yoongi! It's me!"
"Who the fuck… Namjoon? Is that you? Tae?" Yoongi called. Were they fucking with him somehow? Had they put some kind of speaker in his bag? But that voice, it wasn't funny.
"Wait, just hold on!"
Yoongi didn't know what he was supposed to hold onto and he really didn't care. He wanted to leave. He wanted to go now.
But the floor started vibrating under his feet and for a second the world flashed in front of him. Brief snatches of furniture flickered in and out of view like a television was blinking in and out. And there was a figure, standing in front of him. Tall, long balck hair drawn up into a bun. Big, impossibly wide eyes reaching out to him.
"No, no, no," Yoongi shook his head, closing his eyes and willing whatever this was to go away. He was not having a psychotic episode. He wasn't. He was fine. This wasn't happening.
"Yoongi." The voice was firmer, not a whisper or insubstantial. Yoongi's eyes snapped open and standing in front of him was someone who had died five years ago. Taller. Older. Jungkook.
"Nope, nope," Yoongi shook his head, putting his hands up in front of him. "You're not here. You're dead. I'm just… I'm having another psychotic break. That's all this is." Yoongi laughed, that kind of laugh that sounded crazy because he was crazy.
The image of Jungkook wavered, like static and Jungkook looked down at something in his hand, pushing some buttons before the form solidified again. Jungkook's head snapped back up to Yoongi again, and he looked nervous, unsure.
"Hyung, Yoongi hyung," Jungkook said, pushing the device back in his pocket. "Hey, listen, I don't have long. I'm not dead. I didn't die."
"Yes, yes you did," Yoongi argued, edging towards the front door. "You died, I saw it. The train car blew up. You were gone. You died."
"No, I mean, yeah, the car blew up," Jungkook said, scratching at his neck. "But, I didn't die. I thought you died. But that didn't make sense because there was no body. And I was right! You didn't die!"
Yoongi stared at this approximation of an older Jungkook. If he had been a figment of Yoongi's imagination, why would he have made him older? He'd be the same age right? Jungkook was looking at him so earnestly.
"Kookie?" Yoongi whispered. It was impossible. It was completely and utterly impossible that Jungkook was standing in front of him. "It… it can't be."
"I know, it's crazy, but listen," Jungkook took a step forward, his form flickering again. "But I figured it out. It was the singularity. That's what caused the accident right? There was a gravity well from a leak."
"Yeah, that's what they said happened," Yoongi said, unable to stop staring at Jungkook, even if his body kept flickering in and out.
"Right, the car hit the gravity well and it tore the fabric of reality apart," Jungkook said. The accident caused a split in our reality. There is another universe, an exact replica of this universe except in it, you died."
Yoongi sucked in a breath, trying to understand what the hell Jungkook was saying. "You're… you're really alive?" he whispered.
"I am," Jungkook nodded eagerly. "Hyung, you were right, I could do anything. After the accident, I just couldn't believe you were gone, I knew something was wrong so I worked my ass off studying quantum theory to find you. I found you, hyung."
Yoongi slowly slid down the wall, staring up at Jungkook. "You… you're not… you're not dead."
"No, I'm fine," Jungkook said, kneeling down in front of him. "But I can't stay here long hyung. I'm working on how to fix this. It's just going to take time. I need your address."
"I… yeah, okay," Yoongi said, running shaky hands through his hair. He didn't understand anything Jungkook was saying but he was alive. Right? He was alive.
"Okay hyung? Look at me," Jungkook said, scooting closer. "You need to go home. If I'm right, then I'll meet you there. I'll be able to come through stronger. I was just… I was just testing the theory here. I can't believe it worked."
"How did you find me?" Yoongi asked, looking into Jungkook's eyes. Those beautiful brown eyes.
"I'll explain, I promise," Jungkook said. "I can't right now. I'm…" a beep cut him off and Jungkook pulled his phone out again. "I've only got a few seconds. Give me your address."
Yoongi stuttered over himself to give Jungkook his address. He felt like he was in a fog, but then Jungkook was taking his hands and helping him to his feet.
"Go home, right now," Jungkook insisted. "I'll meet you there. And I'll explain everything as best as I can."
Yoongi had so many questions, and wanted to reach out to him again just to confirm he was really there. But just as he reached out, Jungkook smiled at him one last time before he disappeared.
"Kook?" Yoongi whispered, looking around the empty apartment. But there was nothing. No sound, no whispers. No Jungkook.
Taking a shaky breath, Yoongi stalked towards his bag where he'd dropped it on the floor on trembling legs. He picked up the tambourine, blew out the candle, and left. He couldn't even panic in the elevator, too out of his mind. Had he imagined it? He had to have imagined it. It couldn't have been real.
The landlord was waiting in the lobby and Yoongi gave him a wave, not stopping as he went to the door. He was going to let the guy think Yoongi took care of whatever was haunting his apartment because he had no idea how to even explain what he saw.
Outside, Yoongi pulled out his phone and pressed the first number on his speed dial. "Jin? Can you come pick me up. Now." He didn't offer an explanation though Seokjin sounded confused and worried. Yoongi just gave him the address and he hung up.
Yoongi spent the next ten minutes standing on the sidewalk, staring up at the sky.
"Are you okay?" Seokjin asked when Yoongi threw himself into Seokjin's passenger seat. "You look like you've seen a ghost."
"That's not funny," Yoongi said, his voice cracking. "Not funny at all."
"I… I didn't mean it to be funny," Seokjin said quietly. "What happened?"
"I saw Jungkook," Yoongi said. There wasn't any other way to say it. He stared out the front windshield, knowing Seokjin was staring at him in concern.
"What do you mean you saw Jungkook?" Seokjin asked. "Yoongi…"
"No, don't," Yoongi shook his head. "I'm not… I'm not seeing things again. I'm not making this up. I saw him. In that apartment. He was older. He was older Jin."
"Okay, okay," Seokjin said softly, finally understanding that Yoongi was serious. "I'll take you home, but Yoongi, should I call your doctor?"
Yoongi shook his head, balling his hands into fists on his lap. "I'm not having an episode Jin. I saw him. We talked. He told me… he told me something about the accident and how he was in a parallel universe and I don't understand it but it was him. He's alive."
By how quiet Seokjin went, Yoongi didn't know if his best friend believed him. Not that he blamed him. Yoongi had struggled for years with his trauma. He spent time under psychiatric care. He had seen Jungkook in a crowd once and had nearly got hit by a car. If Yoongi was Seokjin, he'd think he was having another episode.
"Yoongi, we're gonna take you home," Seokjin said slowly. "And we're gonna talk about this. I want you to know that I believe you saw what you said you did. But… Jungkook died. We've talked about this."
"I know, Jin, I know," Yoongi whispered, his jaw clenching. "I don't want to believe it. I want to think that I'm just going crazy because I-I don't know if I can handle it if it's not real. But I held his hands. I talked to him."
"But, it's not possible, the car… the thing disintegrated. The police said you got lucky," Seokjin said. Yoongi didn't want to talk about the accident, he didn't like remembering the moment his entire life had been destroyed. But if Jungkook was alive, that meant he had to think about it.
"He said it was a gravity well, from a leak on the line," Yoongi said. "How could I come up with shit like that? I don't know shit about black holes."
"True…" Seokjin frowned, gripping his steering wheel. "Or you've just finally lost all touch with reality. Either is true."
"Thanks for your support," Yoongi scowled. He appreciated Seokjin's concern, and knew he wouldn't be there without him, but right now he didn't. But who else could he tell? Who else would be objective about what Yoongi is saying.
Yoongi and Namjoon lived in a converted loft space above the pawn shop. They'd lived there for the past year, after Yoongi's last episode Namjoon had made him live with him. It was better than living with Seokjin again, though Seokjin was by often enough that it didn't feel any different than it had been in college.
When Yoongi slid the door open, he was surprised to see Namjoon upstairs, waiting in the living room. Namjoon got to his feet, looking nervous and concerned and Yoongi knew Seokjin had warned him ahead of time.
"Hey, Yoongi?" Namjoon said, awkwardly.
"Namjoon," Yoongi grunted, dropping his bag against the wall. "We're gonna have company."
"Oh?" Namjoon's eyes slid to Seokjin who was sliding the door shut.
"Not Jin," Yoongi said, pacing around the room, arms crossed. "Jungkook."
"Jungkook?" Namjoon parroted in confusion. "I thought… he died right?"
"He did," Seokjin said slowly, obviously to keep Yoongi calm. "But Yoongi says he saw him. Why don't you tell Namjoon what you told me."
"I saw Jungkook," Yoongi said, still pacing. "Not.. not like I remember him. He's older. Older than he was. He… he says he went to school to study quantum physics because he says the accident created a parallel universe and that's where he ended up."
Namjoon looked stunned, confused, and there wasn't much Yoongi could say to make it easier because he was right there with him.
"Okay, so, what now then?" Namjoon asked. "Where is he now?"
"He… he had to go, he said he'd meet me here," Yoongi said. "Look I don't get it either and I'm pretty damn surprised and-"
There was a knock on the door and all three turned to it. Yoongi thought his chest was going to explode but he was the one moving first. He threw open the door, and there stood Jungkook. His hair still in a bun and he was panting like he'd run the whole way there.
"Oh my…" Seokjin gasped behind him. "Jungkook."
"Seokjin hyung!" Jungkook grinned at him before his eyes swiveled back to Yoongi. "I told you I'd be here. And I was right! In my universe, this whole building is condemned. They've been trying to renovate it for years but every time they do the locks get changed."
Yoongi didn't understand, and didn't really care. Jungkook was really standing in front of him and Seokjin could see him so he wasn't really crazy. Yoongi took a step forward, and crashed into Jungkook, who was now towering over Yoongi and clung tightly to him.
"Hyung…" Jungkook's arms were around his shoulders so tight that it was crushing him, but Yoongi didn't care. Jungkook was here and he was real and Yoongi didn't ever want to let him go.
"Jungkook, what happened?" Seokjin was asking. "Yoongi said something about the accident and parallel universe?"
"Yeah, yeah," Jungkook nodded, finally pulling away to look at Yoongi with the softest of smiles. "Come on, let's sit down hyung and I'll explain everything."
Jungkook kept a supportive arm around Yoongi and they sat down on the couch side by side. Yoongi couldn't help keeping a hand curled into Jungkook's shirt. If he let go, Jungkook would just disappear again. He listened as Jungkook explained to Seokjin everything he'd already told Yoongi.
"So, you're in a completely parallel universe," Namjoon reiterated. "What's it like?"
"It's… it's just like this one," Jungkook said. "Everything is the same. Exactly the same. Except Yoongi died. The train car exploded and disintegrated, but I was thrown clear. The police said Yoongi died in the accident, but he didn't I knew he didn't."
"Exactly the same?" Seokjin questioned. "So does that mean Yoongi's parents exist in that parallel universe the same as they exist here? What about me?"
"Yeah, you exist there Seokjin hyung," Jungkook nodded. "But we weren't that close so I didn't see you after the funeral they held for Yoongi."
"Weird," Seokjin murmured. He was sitting on the arm of Namjoon's chair, and Namjoon looked concerned, his eyes on Yoongi. "So, how do we keep you here, in this universe then?"
"We don't," Jungkook shook his head. "There shouldn't be two universes. Everything I've learned says these two universes are existing in the same moment in space and time, just slightly out of phase with one another. It's not sustainable. At some point, the two universes are going to collide and then… well I can't even imagine what would happen."
"I'm sure you have some idea what would happen," Seokjin pressed.
Jungkook grimaced, looking at Yoongi. "Both universes would rip each other apart and we'd cease to exist."
"Then what do we do? What can we do?" Yoongi asked quietly. He wasn't going to lose Jungkook again, he couldn't.
"I'm still working on it," Jungkook admitted. "Everyone thinks I'm crazy. That my theory about two universes is impossible. If only I could prove it to them it's not impossible."
"Who cares what they think," Yoongi said. "You're here and we'll… we'll figure this out ourselves."
"We're not exactly scientists, Yoongi," Seokjin said.
"Hold on," Namjoon said, holding up his hands. "I hate to be the one to ask this, but I need to considering our line of work. How sure are we that this is really Jungkook?"
Yoongi glared at Namjoon. How could he even ask that? "It's him," Yoongi said flatly. "I'd know this face anywhere."
"Well, hold on, he's right," Seokjin said. "It looks like him, of course. But it's been five years. We need to make sure it's really Jungkook."
"Look I don't blame you for not believing me," Jungkook said. "I just showed up out of the blue. I'd be suspicious too."
Yoongi didn't want to believe this wasn't Jungkook. Not when those big eyes that held galaxies were the same. But he should be cautious. He knew that.
"Alright, that time on the train," Yoongi said, looking at Jungkook. "What were we talking about?" It would be easy enough to answer. He hadn't told a soul about their conversation.
Jungkook's expression softened and he smiles at Yoongi that endearingly big smile. "I told you college sucks because I didn't get to spend as much time with you."
Releasing the breath he hadn't known he'd been holding, Yoongi tipped forward into Jungkook's shoulder and let the tears fall. "It's him," he whispered, shoulders shaking. "It's really him."
"Well good, that's really good," Seokjin said. "I just can't believe you're here Jungkook. I just… wow."
"I can't believe I'm here either," Jungkook said, squeezing Yoongi's shoulder. "Hey, can you two give us a minute?"
"Of course, Namjoon take me on a date," Seokjin said. Yoongi snorted, the sound wet and gross as he heard Namjoon sputter. But soon they were gone and Jungkook was pushing Yoongi back a little. His eyes were brimming with tears and Yoongi hated that he looked so sad and happy at the same time.
"Kook, you can't leave me again," Yoongi whispered at him. 'You don't… you don't know what I've been through the past five years."
"I have a bit of an idea," Jungkook said, framing Yoongi's cheeks with his hands. "I'm sorry I wasn't here hyung. I never wanted to leave you. I missed you so much."
"I missed you too," Yoongi whimpered, his lip trembling. "It's really not fair. It's so not fair."
"No, but hey, I'm here now," Jungkook said, wiping away Yoongi's tears. 'Hyung, I promise I'm not going to leave you again. No matter what I'm here. I'm here and I'm staying. Even if the universe explodes tomorrow I'm staying."
"I don't want the universe to explode," Yoongi said, laughing a little. "I just want you here. I want you here by my side where I can keep an eye on you. How did you even survive without hyung?"
"It wasn't fun," Jungkook chuckled, knocking their foreheads together. "Hyung, I told myself if I ever saw you again I wouldn't wait to tell you something. I was such a chicken and so scared to tell you this but I need to. I need you to know that I love you. I've always loved you."
"Kook…" Yoongi whispered, closing his eyes.
"You don't have to say anything hyung," Jungkook said softly. "I just wanted you to know. You don't have to say anything."
Yoongi didn't know how to say anything at that moment anyway. He couldn't think straight. He had Jungkook back and that's all that he cared about. They could figure things out later, when Jungkook was here for good.
"How did you find me?" Yoongi asked later when he'd finished crying and he and Jungkook we just cuddled together in silence. He was serious that he wasn't letting Jungkook out of his sight for a second.
"It's uh… it's kind of complicated," Jungkook chuckled. He was massaging Yoongi's hand in his own, taking extra care on the scars. "See, everyone is made of atoms right? Well, all matter is made of atoms and each atom vibrates at the same frequency in the universe. But, I don't vibrate at the same frequency as everything in my universe. So, I'm slightly out of phase in the universe I was in. I figured, if you were in a similar universe, that you would probably vibrate at the same rate I did, since we're both from a different universe."
"So, you found me because we vibrate at the same frequency?" Yoongi asked, amused. "That sounds… that sounds ridiculous."
"Yeah, yeah it does," Jungkook chuckled. "But once I found the right frequency, I found you. I, well I could look into this universe through a machine I made that tapped into the network and tracked you down. I wasn't expecting you to be well… a conman hyung."
"I didn't expect to be here either," Yoongi admitted. "But life kind of sucked for a while."
"Yeah, I get that," Jungkook nodded. "Anyway, I put a suggestion into the landlord's mind about needing an exorcist and had him track you down. Took a few days, but then you were there in my apartment and I could feel you."
"You always were the smartest kid," Yoongi said. "If you could track me down, why'd you need my address?"
"You were already freaked out," Jungkook replied. "I wasn't gonna freak you out even more telling you I knew where you lived and where all your friends lived."
"Alright, fair enough," Yoongi laughed. He leaned into Jungkook more and closed his eyes. "I hope you don't mind if I don't let you meet any of them for a while."
"What, afraid they'll like me more than you?" Jungkook snickered.
"Something like that," Yoongi said. "I already know Taehyung and Jimin will me on you in seconds and they're… they're a lot to handle. And maybe I just want you to myself for a while. I have five years to make up for."
"We'll have plenty of time," Jungkook assured him, turning a little so he could crowd into Yoongi's space. "And I don't mind having you to myself either."
There was a hunger in Jungkook's eyes Yoongi had never seen before. Maybe it was just because Jungkook was older now, but that older brotherly love Yoongi had for him all those years ago had morphed into something more. He knew it back then, he knew it now.
"Kook…" Yoongi whispered, tugging on his shirt and Jungkook seemed to get the hint as he leaned in and they kissed. Yoongi almost started crying, never having imagined he'd be able to kiss Jungkook. He'd died, he'd left five years ago and Yoongi had never been able to forgive himself for not telling him how he felt or making a move. He'd been so scared Jungkook would hate him.
Jungkook was moaning Yoongi's name against his lips and Yoongi melted a little more. He could tell how much Jungkook wanted him. Five years of feelings he'd never been able to express were bubbling up in Yoongi and he pushed back into Jungkook's kiss, catching the younger off guard.
"Okay, okay," Jungkook pulled back, laughing a little and flicking his hair out of his eyes. "I'm sorry, that was um.. Wow."
"Yeah, wow," Yoongi said, licking his lips. "Jungkook I… I need you to know something." he curled his fingers tighter into Jungkook's shirt. "I missed you, I missed you so much and I should have told you. I should have told you how I felt."
Jungkook's eyes were so wide and beautiful and Yoongi just wanted to get lost in them. "Yeah?" he asked, his smile growing.
Why was this so hard? It's not like he hadn't imagined this moment for years, being able to tell Jungkook, having him alive and in his arms. "Kookie, I love you," he whispered, closing his eyes. "I've loved you so long and I wish I would have told you that."
"Well, you told me now," Jungkook said, drawing Yoongi in close by hands on his cheeks and kissing him again slowly. "I can't believe… I can't believe this is really happening. I really found you and I'm really her."
"I can't either," Yoongi said, feeling like he was going to start crying again. "We have to fix the universe Kook. Cause I don't want to let you go, ever."
"Yeah, yeah I know," Jungkook nodded. "We'll fix it. I don't know how, but we will."
"So, the guy you were absolutely madly in love with, didn't die," Hoseok said. "And he's over there, right now, head together with Namjoon, because Namjoon… is the smartest guy we know. To do what?"
"To figure out how to merge our two universes back together" Yoongi said, tapping his nails on the counter. "Namjoon doesn't know shit about quantum physics."
"Compared to us he's a genius," Hoseok snorted. "You think they can really do it?"
"They have to," Yoongi said. "The universe is going to explode if they don't."
"Would that be a terrible thing?" Hoseok sighed, leaning against the counter.
"Yes, it would," Yoongi nudged him. "I just got him back. I don't want to lose him."
"Well, at least you have-" Hoseok was cut off when two puppies piled into the shop and made a beeline for Yoongi.
"He's really here?" Jimin asked, wide eyed. "He's alive?"
"Yes, keep your voice down," Yoongi swatted at him. "Both of you. He's doing important stuff. You can flirt with him later."
"We wouldn't flirt with him," Taehyung said, pressed against Jimin's back and resting his chin on Jimin's shoulder. "We know you're madly in love with him."
"Doesn't stop you two from flirting with everything that moves," Yoongi pointed out. He could see Jimin was already sizing up Jungkook. "I mean it, leave him alone. Flirt with Hoseok in the meantime. He could use to get laid."
Hoseok sputtered and withered under the looks of two very hungry looking puppies. "Yoongi," he complained but Yoongi just pat him on the shoulder and moved out from behind the counter to head towards Jungkook and Namjoon. He could hear Jimin whining behind him "Hobi hyung, why didn't you just tell us?"
"Hey, how's it going?" Yoongi asked, sitting down next to Jungkook. "Figure out how to save the world yet?"
"No," Namjoon said with a tired sigh. "I'm really not smart enough for this."
"Yes you are," Yoongi said. Because if Namjoon didn't get it, then there was no hope anyone else would and Jungkook could n't do it on his own.
"I get the concepts Yoongi, but I don't know the math," Namjoon said. "The most I can help with is suggesting going back to where the accident took place. Start there."
The mere suggestion of getting back on that train had Yoongi seizing up and his vision going black. He couldn't get back on that train. He just couldn't.
"That's not a bad idea," Jungkook said, his voice lost in the haze in Yoongi's mind. "If we could replicate the accident, we could maybe force the two parts back together."
"Or kill us both," Yoongi snapped. "I'm not doing that. I'm not losing you again."
"You won't hyung," Jungkook said, turning to look at him wide eyed. "But Namjoon's right. Replicating the accident at the exact place it happened. That's the point where all this started. The universe split there, and with us there? It could work."
"And what if it doesn't? What if just splits the universe apart again and then we never find each other again," Yoongi said, staggering to his feet. "I can't. I can't lose you again Jungkook. It's not fair!"
Jungkook was up, his hands holding Yoongi by the elbows and was looking at him concern. Those too wide of eyes that Yoongi wanted to lose himself in looking at him like he was going to fall apart any second.
"Hyung," Jungkook murmured softly, pulling Yoongi into a tight hug. "It's okay. It'll be okay. I'll do the math, it'll work. It'll be fine."
Yoongi wanted to believe him. But it was so hard not to panic and worry. Yoongi closed his eyes and sagged into Jungkook's chest. Why couldn't they just stay like this?
Later, when Yoongi took Jungkook upstairs and made him lie down in his bed so he could hold him and not let him up, he voiced his worries.
"How do you know the world is going to come to an end?" he asked, touching Jungkook's chin with a finger.
Jungkook was gently running his hand through Yoongi's hair, his expression far more serious than it had any right being. "There's been these… tremors. All over the world in my universe. No one can explain them, especially geologists. They cut through the earth in ways that are impossible. Quantum scientists have started to catch on. The tremors run along lines of the universe. The strings that hold the universe together are shaking. And if they shake much more they'll start crashing into each other."
"I don't understand," Yoongi said. "But if you're concerned, then I guess we're really in trouble huh?"
"Yeah," Jungkook nodded slowly. "It's why I think Namjoon's suggestion will work. We have to go to the place the universe split. It's the point where the universe can be pulled back together. And it'll be like a zipper, closing the hole made. It'll work hyung."
Yoongi closed his eyes, fighting down the panic bubbling up. "I haven't been able to go on a train since the accident," he admitted quietly. "I'm so scared. Kook, I don't… I don't know if I can do it."
"Yes you can," Jungkook murmured. "You can hyung. I'll be right there and nothing bad will happen."
"You don't know that," Yoongi shook his head. "You don't know if it won't just make things worse."
"No, but we have to try," Jungkook admitted. "I can't go through another five years not knowing if it would have worked if we didn't try hyung. We don't have five years."
Taking a deep breath, Yoongi opened his eyes again to met Jungkook's. There was such conviction there it took Yoongi's breath away. The kid he knew years ago, so indecisive who just wanted to goof off was gone. This Jungkook was determined, and knew what he wanted and wasn't going to let anything get in his way. This wasn't the same Jungkook from five years ago. But he was still Jungkook.
Scooting closer, Yoongi pushed Jungkook a little until he was on his back so he could climb over him and straddle his waist. Jungkook looked surprised, but didn't stop him from drawing Yoongi down into a kiss. If the universe blew up tomorrow, at least Yoongi didn't hesitate. At least he was going to take what he wanted and not hold himself back anymore. He had Jungkook now, and wasn't letting him up until he was satisfied.
Neither of them said a word as the kiss grew in intensity, and Jungkook was nibbling at Yoongi's lips as he pulled on his shirt, tracing patterns into his ribs. Yoongi took his time, not letting Jungkook push too much until he was ready. He enjoyed the feeling of Jungkook's hands on his skin, enjoyed the way Jungkook licked into his mouth and showed him just how fascinating kissing is.
If the world was ending, Yoongi was right where he wanted to be. Stretched out on the bed, Jungkook slowly pulling off pieces of clothes with such care and reverence that Yoongi felt like he was floating. Jungkook took his time, and Yoongi never wanted it to end. He wanted Jungkook's lips on his skin and his fingers pressed so painfully into his hips forever. He wanted Jungkook to open him and fill him and love him the way it should have been forever. He wanted to fold himself into Jungkook's love and touch and know nothing else but Jungkook sliding in and out of him. He wanted Jungkook's hot breath on his shoulder, his long hair tickling Yoong's nose and his soft sighs as the soundtrack of his life.
When the stars exploded behind Yoongi's eyes and Jungkook's body shook over him, he wanted to capture this moment and hang it in his mind as the most perfect moment ever lived.
"That sounds really dangerous," Seokjin said. He was sitting on Namjoon's lap, and Namjoon looked like he was having an aneurysm but no one would call him out on it, not right now.
"It is, but I don't think there's any other way," Jungkook said. He was fussing with his phone. He'd explained to Yoongi it had his program that allowed him to be in their universe. It would also be how they'd fix things later, but that was a lot of science mumbo jumbo that Yoongi didn't understand.
"You're talking about disconnecting one of the uplift train cars, parking it on one of the busiest lines in the city, and recreating an accident that almost killed you both," Seokjin said. "If you even get that far, which you'll probably be arrested before you can go through with it."
"Possibly, but the police will have other things to worry about," Jungkook said. "Namely two guys who rob a bank and take the cops on a chase around town."
"And that's another thing, roping two people into your scheme that could send them to jail for a long time," Seokjin said, motioning towards where Jimin and Taehyung were making out and not really listening to what was going on.
"If everything goes correctly… then they won't have anything to worry about," Jungkook said, tapping his finger against his phone.
"What does that mean?" Namjoon asked. "What is going to happen if you fix this?"
"The two universes merge back together," Jungkook said, looking up at him. "What that means, I don't know. But all of your lives might be completely different."
That caught everyone off guard and even Jimin and Taehyung turned to look at Jungkook. "What?" Seokjin blinked. "You mean, we'll be different?"
"I mean, I don't know," Jungkook said. "Merging two universes back together, I don't know what exactly will happen. But it's like… the moment the accident happened, your lives became two, and there's no way of knowing how your lives would have gone on if the accident hadn't happened."
"But if we don't do this, then we'll be destroyed," Hoseok said. "Kind of feels like no matter what we do, our lives are over."
"Not over, just… maybe not the same," Jungkook said. "We might not even remember any of this. Any of our lives for the past five years. A whole new set of memories."
Taehyung and Jimin looked the most concerned and wrapped themselves around each other. Even Seokjin leaned into Namjoon and buried his nose into Namjoon's hair.
Yoongi understood what they were all thinking. They could wake up not remembering each other. Maybe they'd never met. Maybe their friendships never existed. It was hard to hear. Yoongi appreciated that Jungkook didn't hide that truth from them. It would have been cruel, even as hard as it is to take now.
"So, when is this happening?" Taehyung asked.
"Tomorrow," Jungkook said. "Anniversary of the accident seems fitting." He looked at Yoongi and Yoongi nodded. It did seem fitting.
They spent that night in each other's arms. Yoongi crying himself to sleep despite Jungkook's loving whispers and how gentle he was.
It wasn't any easier in the morning as they went about their lives as if it was any normal day. Namjoon opened the shop, ate breakfast that Seokjin made him and watched Taehyung and Jimin bicker and flirt with Hoseok. He waved goodbye when Yoongi and Jungkook headed out. Wishing them good luck.
Yoongi gave Namjoon a hug, a rarity for their friendship but he felt like it was the right thing to do. Which meant he was squeezed between Jimin in Taehyung and peppered with their love and affection. Hoseok even snuck in a hug but it was Seokjin who made him cry as they hugged for the longest time.
"We'll be here when you're done," Seokjin said. Yoongi didn't know if that was going to be true. But he'd believe it if Seokjin said it because Seokjin would never lie to him.
Buying tickets to get on the train had Yoongi shaking, but Jungkook held his hand and that calmed him down. Jungkook led him through the terminal and into the last car. They'd had the car to themselves five years ago since no one rode during the mid morning usually. They lucked out again that the last car was empty.
Jungkook got to work, tapping into the Uplift systems. Yoongi didn't know when Jungkook had learned how to be a computer hacker on top of a super smart scientist, but it just made him smile.
Jungkook really was good at anything and everything.
At roughly 10:12 in the morning, Jungkook sat on one of the benches and stared out the window. Yoongi sat on the other side of the car, watching as Jungkook concentrated on his phone.
"We're almost there hyung," Jungkook said, looking up at him. For a moment, Yoongi could see that young, wide eyed innocent boy. He could feel his heart swelling, almost ready to burst with how much he loved this man sitting across from him now.
Five years ago, Yoongi's life had come to a halt, stuck in a moment of pure and utter horror. His best friend and first love had died in a horrific crash. But now, that same best friend and first love was sitting, recreating the accident that had torn them apart and Yoongi wanted to gather Jungkook up in his arms and kiss him silly.
"Hold onto something hyung," Jungkook said. "I'm going to separate the car."
Yoongi grabbed one of the support poles, wrapping his arms around it and watched Jungkook tap at the panel at the front of the car. There was a bump and a lurch as the car disconnected and slowed. Automatic brakes kicked in and the car came to a sudden stop. Alarm bells rang and red emergency lights flashed.
"We've got about ten minutes before they send emergency crews," Jungkook said, turning to look at Yoongi. "You ready?"
"As I'll ever be," Yoongi said, getting to his feet. This was the part he didn't understand. The part that Jungkook had spent hours the day before working out. Jungkook had tried to explain it, but Yoongi hadn't paid attention, just memorizing the face of the man Jungkook had grown into. So sure of himself of who he was and what he was. Yoongi was so proud of him.
"Take my hand," Jungkook said and Yoongi opted to push himself into Jungkook's chest instead and wrap his arms tight around him. He wasn't going to let Jungkook go. Jungkook just chuckled softly under his breath and wrapped his free arm around Yoongi's shoulder. "Hyung?"
"Yeah?" Yoongi tilted his head up and Jungkook kissed him softly. "I love you."
"I love you too," Yoongi said, soaking in this moment. He hoped he could remember these past few days, and never, ever take Jungkook for granted.
Jungkook took a shaky breath and held up the phone so Yoongi could see as he pressed a button. Yoongi didn't know what it did, just that it was going to fix everything. Fix them.
Yoongi closed his eyes and turned his head back to kiss Jungkook again as a blinding white light enveloped them.
The universe, as it seems, is a highly malleable and fragile thing. One moment, one accident can send it into a tailspin of its own making. It can rip and tear and throw everything into chaos. But what it can't do, is keep apart two people who love each other so much they'll cross impossible distances to be together.
When Yoongi opened his eyes, he knew something felt different, but he didn't know what. He looked up at Jungkook who was looking down at him with a bright grin.
"Hey," Jungkook wiggled his eyebrows. "You falling asleep on me?"
"No," Yoongi shook his head and shifted to look around. The train car was empty, like it had been when they got on. Like it always was. "Did it work?"
"I don't know," Jungkook answered, his brow furrowing in confusion as he looked at his phone. The program was gone. Just showing the date and time. "I don't feel any different."
"Me either," Yoongi said, pulling out of Jungkook's arms and looked down at his hand. He still had a scar. "What did we change?"
"What do you remember?" Jungkook asked. "I remember everything, the five years, the accident."
"Me too," Yoongi said, hands trembling. Had it not worked? Was the universe doomed?
"Wait," Jungkook was looking at his phone again. "These photos. I don't remember these… wait, do I?" he looked confused, scrolling through his photo album. "These are you and me. And the others."
Yoongi crowded in next to him and sure enough there were pictures of all of them together. From weeks and months ago. "That was at your birthday party," he said, pointing to a picture Jungkook had taken of Yoongi kissing his cheek. "I remember… I remember that."
"But I also remember spending my birthday in a lab working out how to open the bridge between the two universes," Jungook said quietly. "How can I remember both?"
"I don't know," Yoongi shook his head. "I remember… you and me staying up and watching the sunrise that morning. That was the night Namjoon asked Jin to marry him."
"Joon hyung was so drunk," Jungkook snickered.
"But… they're not together," Yoongi shook his head. "They've been dating for two years but I also know they weren't together for two years. And Taehyung, and Jimin. I know they've been seeing each other for years but they also split up last year and are just getting back together."
"And Namjoon owns a pawn shop," Jungkook blinked. "Well, that part's true still."
"But I don't live with him," Yoongi said. "You and me have lived in an apartment for two years after I graduated college. I… I graduated."
"Me too," Jungkook grinned, his expression brightening. "Photography."
"Beats being a skateboarder," Yoongi laughed, leaning into his boyfriend. He'd confessed to Jungkook after they'd nearly died in that accident five years ago. They'd been lucky they hadn't died. It was enough to make Yoongi make a move and tell Jungkook how felt. They had been together, inseparable ever since. Yoongi was madly in love with his boyfriend. His Jungkook.
The emergency repair crews came and got the train car safely reattached to the rest of the train. The maintenance had no idea how the car had come loose and Jungkook and Yoongi played dumb. If no one knew, then it didn't matter.
They opted to head to the pawn shop instead of the apartment they both remember and had never been to before. When they stepped in, it was just as they'd left it. Namjoon and Seokjin were behind the counter, Taehyung and Jimin were making out on Namjoon's desk in the back, and Hoseok was trying not to make it obvious he was staring at them.
"Hey, I thought you guys were-" Namjoon stopped, blinking slowly. "What were you guys doing again?"
"I feel like I need to give both of you a hug," Seokjin said. "And that I should be crying happy tears. Why do I feel like that?"
Yoongi took Jungkook's hand and smiled. "We have a really neat story to tell you guys. Better sit down."
