Akira Kurusu made it big as an underground DJ by the age of 18 under the stage name Joker. By the time he hit 21 years old, he had erected his own club in the heart of Shinjuku’s infamous red light district, curiously named ‘The Metaverse.’
And then there’s Goro Akechi, age 22 and a rising star in Tokyo’s world of dance— who’s promptly half-dragged to the club by his friend one night. There’s a reason why, even after a year, he continues to go to The Metaverse; spoiler alert, it’s not entirely because of the hot DJ’s music.The tales of their lives are spun by notes and melodies, weaving together like the tracks under Joker’s hands.
