Work Text:
A lawyer never cries until it's all over. That is why and how Phoenix Wright kept a level head for so much of his early career. It is also the reason that, save for when he could worry Trucy, he so often cried after his disbarment. Wright's talents for bluffing were no longer able to cover for what he felt he had to do, they were simply a good tool in cards. College was long past, and he could not pin the blame for the redness in his eyes on anything but his own emotions, a worry that would cause him sleepless nights for weeks. He was set on being strong for Trucy, he knew that a new piece of his life had begun, but a lawyer doesn't cry until it's all over. And this time, it really was.
