Eri having a fever after her quirk messing with her body was not uncommon to Shouta. It had happened after they had saved her from Chisaki and she helped Midoriya. For that reason when he had found her in Nejire’s arms with a glowing horn, he knew it was inevitable.
As he was erasing her quirk, for a brief moment, he felt annoyance creeping in his heart. He had a shitty day as it was and the last thing he needed was more drama. Needless to say, as soon as the thought popped up in his head, he was hit by nausea with full force.
He couldn’t believe what he was thinking. It wasn’t Eri’s fault what they had found out about Kurogiri and using Eri as a punching bag was something unforgivable. He ran his fingers through his hair and let out a deep sigh.
”How is she, sensei?” Mirio asked crouching down next to him.
”She has a fever,” Aizawa said, brushing out the sweaty bangs from the little girl’s forehead, ”But her quirk is not out of hand anymore,” he finished as he looked at the once again small horn on Eri’s forehead.
”Thanks goodness!” Mirio breathed, placing a hand on his chest. ”All of us were really worried when she collapsed into Nejire’s arms.”
”Here, sensei,” Nejire said, outstretching her arms towards Aizawa with a passed out Eri in them.
The man took the little girl in his arms, then stood up from his crouching position. He turned around and walked away towards the common area.
”Didn’t he seem a little off?” Mirio asked his friends, who nodded.
When Aizawa stepped in the common room with an unconscious Eri in his arms, Hizashi stood up from the couch so fast as if it was burning him. He trotted up to his friend and looked down at the child, snuggled up to the raven’s chest.
”Her quirk again?” He asked and Aizawa nodded stiffly.
He walked past the blond man and took his way to Eri’s room with Hizashi in tow. He opened her door with his foot and walked up to her bed. Hizashi pulled the covers up. Aizawa laid Eri down to the bed gently, then knelt down next to it.
Aizawa started stroking her white hair. He saw her eyelashes flutter and soon he was met with two wide, glassy, ruby eyes blinking up at him.
”D-daddy?” Eri mumbled and Aizawa felt the air freezing around him. Eri had never called him that before and he had no idea what to do. He felt Mic elbowing him and that brought him back to his senses.
”I bring a cold towel,” the voice hero whispered to him, then stood up and left. Aizawa turned his attention back to the little girl lying in front of him in the bed.
”Hey, sweetheart. How are you?” He asked and felt the nickname being a bit cringy.
”Hot and dizzy,” Eri said with tears welling in his eyes. Aizawa felt panic squeezing his heart. ” I’m sorry for causing inconvenience, daddy,” she said, sniffing. ”Y-you have already had a hard day…”
Aizawa furrowed his eyebrows. Eri had only seen him for only a few minutes after he had returned from the meeting with Kurogiri and the fact that she could tell only from that how stressed he felt was something he never would’ve thought would happen. He took a deep breath and gave her the softest smile he could muster in that moment.
”You would never make my day worse, Eri. No matter what had happened earlier during it,” he said, wiping away some of her tears that had rolled down on her face.
”R-really?” Eri asked and the hope in her voice warmed up Shouta’s heart. Shouta smiled back at her – now with a real smile – and nodded. Eri beamed up at him, then closed her eyes. ”Thanks, daddy! I love you!” She mumbled, before falling back asleep.
