jimin hummed a lullaby softly as he rubbed his hand gently against jeongguk's back. jeongguk usually fell asleep on his back but he rolled around a lot in his sleep, and so when jimin arrived, he was sleeping on his stomach.
yoongi got an urgent call from the company to come in for a meeting, insisting that he met a famous producer who was so busy but had an appointment canceled last minute so they agreed to come visit their company. jimin had received a panicked call from yoongi, and had rushed over to come watch jeongguk while he was at the meeting.
"i'm really sorry for the last minute request," yoongi said apologetically, even as he packed his bag. he usually told jimin if he had a meeting at least three days beforehand so jimin could rearrange his schedule if necessary.
"it's all good, hyung, i was just going to watch movies today anyway," jimin said easily as he waved off yoongi's worry. "and it's never a bother to look after jeongguk. he's such a good baby."
yoongi thanked him and apologised to him again before he left and jimin made his way to their bedroom, and found jeongguk still napping. he'd had his breakfast and morning play time already, and usually napped before a late lunch.
"cute baby," jimin whispered as he brushed jeongguk's hair gently. "i wonder if we'll have a baby as adorable as you one day."
jimin sat next to the crib while scrolling through his social media and replying texts. he put his phone away when he heard jeongguk yawning and turning, and he turned around in time to see jeongguk blink sleepily up at him.
"good afternoon, sleepyhead," jimin greeted, leaning his arm on the crib and looking down at jeongguk. "had a good nap?"
jeongguk grinned widely at him and made a noise of agreement. jimin was sure he looked like a lovesick fool, but he didn't really mind. jeongguk grinned wider at him, his eyes crinkling, and jimin started giggling.
jeongguk stared at him, then started giggling. it set jimin off even more, and they spent close to three minutes just giggling at each other.
"why are we even laughing?" jimin asked to himself as he picked jeongguk up from the crib. "come on, what do you want to do? do you want to play with your blocks?"
jeongguk nodded so jimin brought him to the living room, where his toy box was. he took out jeongguk's coloured blocks and started reading out the letters on them to him. he wasn't sure if jeongguk could read already, but it was always a good thing to learn early.
he got a text midway through so he let jeongguk play on his own while he read the text. it was his younger brother telling him about his struggles with his exam the week after. jimin frowned, and quickly replied with an offer to help with the study if he could, and to wish his brother good luck with the exam.
he put his phone away and looked back at jeongguk who was staring at him.
"what's wrong, ggukie?" jimin asked softly.
jeongguk stared for a bit longer, before he suddenly grinned at jimin.
jimin chuckled. "what is it?" he asked. "is there something on my face?"
jeongguk grinned wider and started giggling, and jimin started giggling as well. their giggling fit didn't last three minutes this time, and jeongguk returned to his blocks with a proud and satisfied look on his face.
"oh," jimin let out, feeling like his heart skipped a couple of beats. "were you trying to make me laugh?"
jeongguk didn't reply, and jimin picked him up to hug him tight. jeongguk let go of his blocks and turned to cuddle jimin back.
"you're so sweet, ggukie. thank you."

yoongi's meeting ran late, and seokjin was stuck in traffic, so jimin asked if he could bring jeongguk to the studio with him. seokjin agreed and said he'd pick jeongguk up from the studio, so jimin borrowed their baby carrier and brought jeongguk to the studio with him.
"oh, ggukie!" hoseok greeted excitedly when he saw jimin carrying the baby into the studio. "what happened? not that i'm not happy he's here."
"yoongi-hyung's meeting ran late and seokjin-hyung got caught in traffic," jimin said easily, setting down his bag at the corner of the dance room and setting jeongguk on top of it. "so this is where we practice, ggukie. what do you think? pretty cool, right?"
jeongguk looked around the room in awe and nodded.
hoseok excused himself so he could practice a bit more before the students came in. he had planned to introduce a new choreography that night so he wanted to perfect it before showing it to the students. since it was a beginner class, the moves were simpler and it wasn't as long as the one he did for a more advanced class, just because he didn't think they'd have the time to cover so many steps.
jimin sat with jeongguk, watching hoseok practice. when he was done, hoseok walked back over to them.
"how was that, ggukie?" hoseok asked as he plopped down next to the baby.
"was it good?" jimin asked jeongguk. jeongguk looked at both of them and nodded. "if it's good, clap your hands," he added, and helped jeongguk clap his hands.
jeongguk clapped his hands clumsily, and hoseok laughed in happiness.
"aw, thanks, ggukie," he said, patting jeongguk's head. "why don't you go change, jiminie? i think the students are coming soon."
"oh yeah, please look after ggukie for a bit," jimin said. "seokjin-hyung said he's arriving soon, should be here before we have to start class."
"no problem," hoseok said, waving him off.
jimin hurried to change and hoseok placed jeongguk on his lap, bouncing him slightly as jeongguk fiddled with the strap of jimin's duffel bag. he was rereading his notes for the new choreography, occasionally frowning in thought.
jeongguk looked at him, then squealed at hoseok and started clumsily clapping his hands.
"what is it, ggukie?" hoseok asked curiously. "do you want something?"
jeongguk looked at him in confusion, and then clapped again, furrowing his brow in concentration.
"he's trying to make you laugh, hyung," jimin cut in amusedly as he walked back towards them, already changed into his workout clothes. "you laughed earlier when he clapped, so he associated clapping with it."
hoseok laughed, as he lifted jeongguk up. "really? that's so sweet of you, ggukie," he said, pressing kisses to jeongguk's cheek as jeongguk giggled. "is seokjin-hyung already close? do i still have time to sneak off with jeonggukie?"
"i'm pretty sure that's a crime," seokjin said from the entrance, thoroughly unimpressed. he walked over towards jeongguk with a big smile on his face. "how's my baby doing? were you a good boy for your jimin-hyung and hoseok-hyung?"
jeongguk nodded enthusiastically and squealed as he raised his arms towards seokjin. seokjin walked over to snatch him from hoseok and hugged him close. "now let's leave this kidnapper. yoongi should be home soon. should we get takeout for dinner?"
jeongguk put his thumb in his mouth and slowly shook his head.
"you want to eat yoongi's cooking?"
jeongguk nodded his head.
seokjin chuckled and pressed a kiss to his chubby cheek. "such a good kid. let's go home then. wave bye to your hyung."
jeongguk waved bye at the two and seokjin rushed out of the studio before hoseok could snatch jeongguk again.

although jimin was the most easily amused among them, namjoon was one of the easiest to cheer up. he liked physical contact, and a hug would usually cheer him up.
they were gathered at namjoon and hoseok's place that weekend for a movie night. taehyung picked a disney movie, claiming it was the only one appropriate because jeongguk was there, but everyone knew he just liked to sing along to the movie.
when taehyung began belting out lyrics at the top of his lungs while holding onto jeongguk's hands and dancing with him, the others moved to the dining room for a calmer conversation.
"so how's your thesis going, hyung?" jimin asked curiously, looking over at namjoon. "you look more tired than usual."
"i guess i'm almost done," namjoon said, "but i've been revising the conclusion a couple of times now and it still doesn't read right."
"give yourself a break," seokjin reminded, "and then come back to it with a fresh mind and eyes."
"i guess," namjoon said with a sigh. "it's just so hard sometimes, especially since i want it to be perfect."
"we know," yoongi said, "but really, when you look at something for too long, sometimes it starts not making sense. take a break, joon."
"i will," namjoon agreed.
jeongguk toddled over into the dining room, making loud 'eh' noises as he did.
"what's wrong, baby?" jimin asked. "did taehyung tire you out?"
"he's not that easily tired," yoongi pointed out, "and you should know."
"ah yeah," jimin agreed, remembering the time jeongguk spent ten minutes running around a park chasing after a seagull. even watching him was tiring.
jeongguk didn't reply. he walked over towards namjoon and climbed up onto his lap, before smushing his cheek against namjoon's chest and placing his arms around namjoon's ribs, as far as they could go.
hoseok nearly squealed and quickly took out his phone to take pictures of the adorable scene.
"are you trying to cheer me up?" namjoon asked, the tired smile on his face widening into a grin. "you're so cute, ggukie."
"it's like he has a sixth sense," seokjin said. "he did that for yoongi too. i remember we were in the living room while yoongi was working on a single, and jeongguk just suddenly up and left to go cuddle yoongi, as if he could sense that yoongi was getting too stressed."
namjoon hummed as he held jeongguk close. he probably should come around to seokjin and yoongi's place regularly to cuddle with him, it was pretty relaxing and he didn't think of his thesis while he was doing so.
"where's my baby?" taehyung asked as he wandered into the kitchen with a pout. "he suddenly left me."
"since when is he your baby?" yoongi asked with a raised eyebrow. "go have one yourself if you want one."
"ah, but hyung, they won't be as adorable as ggukie," taehyung said. "maybe. i don't know."
jeongguk turned to look at taehyung and started wriggling in namjoon's hold, flailing his arms in a 'dance' while humming a disney song offkey with a grin on his face.
taehyung laughed and walked over to snatch jeongguk away from namjoon. "he is my baby for the next thirty minutes. don't come bothering us!" he exclaimed as he rushed back to the living room so they could continue watching the disney movie.
"well, but ggukie is everyone's baby, right?" hoseok asked with a grin.
"ugh, i can't even ask you to change his diaper as a punishment if you consider him your baby too now because he's already potty trained."

some days, yoongi woke up with a dark cloud over his head. the cloud used to be big and appeared quite frequently while he was growing up. sometimes, he even wondered what the point of life was.
the clouds became a lot less frequent when he started dating seokjin. he didn't believe there was someone who could be attracted to him, and could like him for who he was. even if he did wake up with dark thoughts in his head, when he saw seokjin it felt like the clouds broke to make way for sunlight, because he was reminded that there were people who loved him.
after jeongguk was born, his dark clouds were practically nonexistent. as soon as he woke up, he'd go looking for jeongguk, and his heart will swell with his love for the tiny baby, knowing that the baby loved him just as much. sometimes they slept together in the bed, and yoongi would wake up to jeongguk patting his cheek or staring at him unblinking, as if trying to use telepathy to tell yoongi to wake up.
that morning after breakfast, he sat with jeongguk while flipping through his and seokjin's pre-wedding and wedding photo album. jeongguk had chanced upon the album while he was opening and closing cupboards for fun (yoongi had learned not to question jeongguk's idea of fun) and had looked at it in interest.
jeongguk made quiet noises of awe as he ran his tiny hands over the glossy pictures, and excitedly patted at one that he particularly liked. it was one of the pictures from their pre-wedding photo shoot, where they went to a flower meadow out of town. they were both dressed in white, their clothes airy and loose, moving slightly in the breeze. they both had flowers woven into their hair, and the biggest smiles on their faces as they looked into each other's eyes.
"you really like this one, huh?" yoongi asked with a smile. "i really like this one too."
they went out to a local park before lunch, so yoongi brought a couple of sandwiches for their lunch and cut fruit for jeongguk's snack. there were a lot of dogs at the park, and jeongguk loved playing with them, so yoongi let him loose and watched him from afar. none of the dogs ever hurt him so he wasn't too worried.
he noticed jeongguk running around the park more than usual, but didn't think much of it. when he started unpacking their lunch, jeongguk ran back towards him, as if notified by his seventh sense that there was food for him.
"hungry?" yoongi asked with a smile as he picked jeongguk up and set him on the bench. "i made your favourite egg sandwich."
jeongguk squealed happily, then showed yoongi the handful of wildflowers he had. not all of them were perfect, some were a bit bruised and wilted, but they were still really nice.
"for me?"
jeongguk nodded, and furrowed his brow in concentration as he started slowly putting the flowers into yoongi's hair. when he was done, he clapped and squealed happily, and yoongi smiled back at him. he knew the flowers were probably haphazard and wonky, but it still made him feel so loved.
he picked jeongguk up to sit him on his lap and helped him eat. as he watched jeongguk eat his sandwich in gusto, occasionally looking and grinning at him, yoongi thought to himself, "ah, it's a cloudless day today."
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
seokjin loved his family. he loved them from the bottom of his heart. sometimes, he wished he could spend more time with them during the week, but he knew it was unlikely. there were times when he worried that jeongguk would be distant from him because they didn't interact as much, or he'd resent him for being more absent than yoongi.
"of course not, silly," yoongi had said as he flicked his forehead when seokjin shared his worries. "you spend a lot of time with jeongguk whenever you're home, and he's always excited to know you're back, because he likes you a lot too. i think you're underestimating what an absent parent is like."
still, yoongi started assigning him dinner duties; feeding jeongguk dinner and bathing him after. seokjin knew it was his attempt to get him and jeongguk to spend more time together, especially since breakfast and lunch were taken care of by yoongi.
and so he sat at the dinner table with jeongguk while yoongi washed the pots and pans he used for cooking and storing the leftover.
jeongguk was holding onto a plastic fork in his left hand, but was trying to pick up a grilled cherry tomato with his right hand. he poked around at it, and in the end picked it up, 'stabbing' it with his tiny pointer finger.
seokjin laughed at the ridiculousness of the situation, especially since jeongguk was grinning proudly at him, waving his hand with the tomato on it while his left hand was still holding onto the fork.
after dinner, jeongguk was allowed some snack. that night, his snack was a couple of cheese rings (yoongi claimed the taste was probably a tad too strong for jeongguk so he shouldn't eat many) and lightly salted popcorn.
jeongguk started poking around in his bowl of snacks, picking up a piece of popcorn and popping it into his mouth. he chewed thoughtfully as he poked around in his bowl again, and lifted his hand up, showing a cheese ring around his finger.
seokjin laughed in amusement, and jeongguk picked up another cheese ring with his chubby finger and turned to look at seokjin proudly, and seokjin couldn't help but smile.
sometimes, he wondered which world he saved in his previous life, that he would be so lucky to have his family.
