after the time yoongi withheld cuddles from jeongguk when he was being naughty, jeongguk listened to them all the time, because he associated being naughty with no cuddles. he also knew his parents would only tell him no if it was a bad thing (like that one time he tried to eat cushion stuffing), so he had no problem listening to them.
"dada!" jeongguk exclaimed as he pointed at the clear blue sky that could be seen from their balcony window and ran back towards yoongi.
yoongi looked up from his laptop when jeongguk ran into his leg. his eyes were dark and heavy, as he'd been staying up late to work overtime, but maybe he deserved a little break.
"it's a good day, isn't it, ggukie?" yoongi mused.
jeongguk nodded, climbing up to yoongi's lap and patting his cheek. "da," he said, patting yoongi's face softly. he frowned when he saw the dark circles under yoongi's eyes.
"it's okay, baby, i'll sleep a lot when this is done," yoongi said softly as he kissed jeongguk's cheek. "should we go out and get some fresh air while the weather is nice?"
jeongguk nodded, and so they got ready to go to a local park. it was a short walk and they weren't intending to stay for long so yoongi didn't take the stroller with him, although he brought jeongguk's snack and a carrier, in case jeongguk got too tired to walk back by himself.
when they got into the elevator, jeongguk toddled around restlessly, and got fascinated by the only differently coloured button in the lift.
"ggukie, no," yoongi said just as jeongguk lifted a hand to press it. "that's the emergency button. you only press it when there's something wrong with the lift and need help."
jeongguk paused, tried to digest what he had just been told. "no?" he asked, pointing at the button.
"not unless there's something wrong with the lift."
jeongguk nodded and walked back towards yoongi. they reached the ground floor soon, and they made their way to the local park. there were a couple of dogs there so yoongi let jeongguk go play with the dogs while he sat on a bench nearby.
"ggukie, come on, it's time to go back," yoongi called after half an hour of playing.
jeongguk stared sadly at the dogs, before waving bye at them and rushing back towards yoongi.
"sorry, baby. when i have more time, we'll go out again, okay?" yoongi asked as he picked jeongguk up.
"da," jeongguk said as he kissed yoongi's cheek, nuzzling his neck, and yoongi smiled at him. they really were lucky to be blessed with jeongguk.
they walked back to their apartment building and got on the lift. jeongguk once again stared at the emergency call button, and lifted his hand. yoongi was about to tell him no again when jeongguk suddenly wiggled his finger and said, "noo."
yoongi nearly choked at the adorableness. he picked jeongguk up and hugged him tight. jeongguk was confused for a second but then decided not to question it and just hugged yoongi back.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
it was a saturday when yoongi finally finished with the track, and seokjin took jeongguk out of the room in the morning so yoongi could sleep in.
"papa is very tired, so we'll let him sleep some more, okay?" seokjin asked as he carried jeongguk to the kitchen and set him down in the high chair while he made them breakfast.
jeongguk's breakfast nowadays was a small bowl of oatmeal with cut fruit, and seokjin or yoongi would occasionally share bits of their own breakfast with jeongguk. today seokjin had pancakes and hash brown, and as expected, jeongguk had begged for some as soon as he saw them.
"here, say ahh," seokjin said as he fed jeongguk a small piece of pancake drenched in maple syrup, and jeongguk did a small dance as he chewed on it happily.
he went to make himself and yoongi a cup of coffee while jeongguk finished his breakfast, and then returned to the table. he set the coffee down on the table and yoongi walked into the dining room with his hair and clothes rumpled, his eyes squinting, but his dark circles much better than the days before.
"da!" jeongguk exclaimed happily when he saw yoongi, and yoongi smiled at him, kissing his forehead in greeting.
"did you sleep well?" seokjin asked as he walked over to yoongi, kissing him softly. "you could sleep a bit more, i can keep an eye on ggukie."
"i know you can," yoongi said, "but i'm up anyway. i'll take a nap if i get tired later."
"what do you want to eat? pancakes and hash brown okay for you?" seokjin asked.
"yeah, thanks," yoongi replied as he walked over to take his cup of coffee.
"da!" jeongguk exclaimed, reaching out towards yoongi when he saw him taking the cup of coffee. as always, jeongguk wanted whatever his parents were having.
"it's not for you, ggukie," yoongi said. "this is coffee, it has too much caffeine for you, which is not good."
jeongguk frowned in confusion, not sure what caffeine was. "no?" he asked.
"no, maybe when you're grown up, but caffeine is not good for you."
jeongguk fell silent for a second, before changing target to the pancakes that seokjin just made.
yoongi cut some pieces for jeongguk, and jeongguk watched as seokjin took the other cup of coffee. he reached out his hands to him as well. "da?"
"this is coffee too, ggukie," seokjin replied.
"oo," jeongguk said. he then lifted a hand and wiggled his finger no. "noo."
seokjin choked at the adorableness and yoongi took a sip of his coffee, feeling a little smug that he was still better at handling jeongguk's cuteness than seokjin.
