it's been a few years since Lan Xichen ended his seclusion. The grief caused by the tragedy of losing both his sworn brothers happening under his nose slowly became tempered with time. But today wasn't mean to remember the pain but to celebrate a new beginning. The halls were draped in red and gold silk. His own heavy scarlet and gold robes fluttered in the breeze as he slowly walked to the pavilion.
"Wangji , Wuxian" he called, seeing his own brother and his currently bouncing husband waiting for him at the last pillar.
"You look so handsome, Zewu-jun! Now I know where Lan Zhan got his looks from!" Wei Ying grinned as he saw the gorgeous robes that were made just for today.
"Thank you Wuxian", he smiled at his brother-in-law. Wei Ying grinned and was about to open his mouth to praise Lan Xichen more when his beloved Hanguang-jun spoke.
"Wei Ying, go on ahead. I wish to speak with my brother."
"Okay Lan Zhan! I'll save you a seat inside!" Wei Ying happily skipped his way inside the pavilion, knowing that they need this moment together.
"Wangji, what is it?" Lan Xichen asked, worried when his brother kept silent. Lan Zhan tilted his head up to look him in the eye, gently grabbed his sleeve and hugged him careful so as not to crease his robes.
"I wish for your happiness, brother. To thank you for teaching me on how the world works and for being there when my world was falling apart without Wei Ying" Lan Wangji whispered as he gently hugged his brother, his Huan er-gege. "I fear that I could not say this during the feast when they toast for you and your betrothed. "
Lan Xichen was shocked quiet, but hugged his brother back and gave him a small smile when he was released.
"A-zhan, thank you as well for being my rock during those years and for pushing me to do better."
"Mn. Now go and make your bows. Know that Wei Ying and I will be there for you always." Lan Zhan said before he made his way inside.
"As we'll be for you and Wuxian." Lan Xichen murmured. Adjusting his sleeves embroidered with golden lotus flowers, he took his first step towards his future husband. Clans near and far gathered inside the pavilion to watch him and his betrothed, Sect Leader Jiang make their bows in front of the Heaven and Earth.
Jiang Cheng observed him slowly make his way, heavy scarlet robes whispering, head held high and proud as befitting of his station as GusuLan's Sect Leader. He took note of the width of Xichen's shoulders - one that carried a burden so heavy and difficult yet he managed to fight his way through, the broad expanse of his chest - large enough to shield him from any hurt and caging a heart worthy of loving.
Unminding of the societal niceties and GusuLan's endless rules, he met his future husband, his Lan Huan midway. He smiled gently, grasped his hand and walked beside him, amidst a sea of red - one of happiness and a boundless future.
Lan Qiren, Lan Wangji, Lan SIzhui represented Xichen's side of the family, while Jin Ling and Wei Wuxian sat on Wanyin's side. Side by side, elbows and robes brushing against each other, they kneel in front of their family, serving tea as is tradition. And then finally they made their bows - one for the Heaven and the Earth, one for their families and ancestors, and at long last, they turn to each other, sworn to love.
