Sacrifices | Devotion | Role Reversal AU
..............
Lan Zhan and Wei Ying had been living together for a couple of years and although they haven’t noticed it all that much, they have definitely made some changes in their routine. Most of them were minor, but sometimes sacrifices had to be made for the sake of their sanity. Although, they didn’t really feel like sacrifices.
- No talking while eating.
Wei Ying talked, alot. This was not a surprise to anyone, nor was it a breathtaking revolution. It was a common fact known by everyone. So, while Lan Zhan likes to spend his dinner silent, Wei Ying does not.
Even though the rules dictate that there is no talking while eating in Gusu Lan Sect, Wei Ying has never been the type to follow rules. It’s in his blood and his bones not to listen to the rules. He constantly breaks this particular rule as well as many others to the point that his husband gave up many, many years ago on trying to make him follow these rules. While he points it out occasionally, he doesn’t have the heart or will to try and make Wei Ying change. After all, it’s a part of his charm.
So, Lan Zhan let Wei Ying blabber on throughout dinner and wouldn’t yell at him even if all the disciples were staring at them. Eventually they got so used to it that they began not even looking and just continued on with their days. Sometimes, if they were in the jingshi eating dinner, Lan Zhan would have a conversation with him, ignoring the rules completely.
- 9-5 agenda
Another rule of their Sect was that every disciple was to sleep at nine and rise at five.
This of course, was absurd to Wei Ying. Wei Ying liked to fall asleep anywhere past two in the morning. What can he say? He’s a night owl.
However, with his husband Lan Zhan, it was impossible to go to bed that late. He found himself going to bed no later than eleven, and even that was only when he was busy. Typically, his husband roped him into sleeping earlier and earlier each night.
One thing that would never change was Wei Ying’s inability to wake up at five. No matter how hard anyone tried, even his husband, it was absolutely impossible to wake Wei Ying up at five.
On rare occasions he’d get up at seven; however, most mornings he would wake up at nine. Those rare occasions typically were when they had to leave to go somewhere and wanted to make it there on the same day.
- Lovely son, A-Yuan
While A-Yuan visited Lan Zhan weekly in the past, Wei Ying found himself wanting his son to visit more often when possible. He hadn’t seen the boy grow up and he wanted to make up for lost time.
He ended up convincing his son to eat dinner with them at least twice a week, sometimes thrice. Every once in a while, Jingyi would even join them. Wei Ying didn’t mind. In his mind, the more the merrier.
He loved that his son had grown up into such a fine, young man. It was always funny when Wei Ying tried to hug him because he always got so uncomfortable. He’d always laugh and ask him if Hanguang-jun didn’t give him enough hugs when he was younger. Then, A-Yuan would always blush and turn beet red.
He really loved his family and honestly, he really didn’t feel like any of these changes were sacrifices. (Except maybe his poor sleeping schedule being changed…)
