I Found

Summary:

It wasn't supposed to end like this. None of this was supposed to happen.

I would really recommend listing to this song as you read this :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CibA_AB-KOQ

This is partly for my dear friend Nighofthelivingtrashcan.

Work Text:

It was suppose to have been a simple mission. Keigo had fully given himself over to the league and after weeks of proving himself, Shigaraki gave him his first mission. It was to just sneak back into the Commission headquarters and take as much useful information as he could. Dabi offered to come with as a look out. The night was perfect, stars could faintly be seen from the pitch black sky as the two made their way to the tall building. A light breeze ruffled black hair in a way that when Dabi looked over at Hawks, the ex-hero's breath was taken away.

It might have been the stupidest thing he'd ever done, fall in love with a high class villain, but he wouldn't take it back for the world. There was real love there, despite Dabi's weak protests. Keigo got what he thought he never would, a person that cared about him, not just what he could do.

Breaking in was actually easier than the blond thought. His feather cut a near perfect hole in the glass that he could easily crawl through. It went well, almost too well and that's what put him on edge. No one should be able to just casually break into the Commission. Not even Hawks.

Dabi had laughed it off, shoving him lightly with his shoulder. Of course Dabi wouldn't be as bothered as Keigo, he didn't know the Commission like he did.

And just like Hawks feared, it happened as they were walking away. The first gun shot cut though the night like a knife. Hawks whipped around sharply, immediately taking to the air a little. The concrete was illuminated with a blue hue as Dabi shot out a pillar of fire. Red feathers stood sharp around him like mini daggers as he tried to see where the person went.

"You are our greatest disappointment, Hawks." A woman's voice called out from the shadows. Dabi raised an eyebrow, casting a look to his boyfriend who was frozen in air. He knew that voice too well. His head handler and the Commission's head. "So much potential wasted," She continued.

What happened was too fast for even Hawks to prevent it. Dabi let out a snarl, sending another blast of fire to where the voice was. A second shot rang out, but this one hit its target. Keigo dropped to the ground, eyes wide as his lover crawled away slightly, clutching his chest.

"Run, Kei," Dabi's whisper soft voice was almost to a point Hawks didn't hear him. A rage filled Hawks to a point he wondered if this was what it was like when Dabi used his quirk too much. In that brief moment, Keigo was thankful for all the nighttime training. While his handler was a smart woman, she couldn't stop her breathing and that's exactly what he used against her.

His feathers shot out, sensing the slight vibration. It was a hit as the noise of punctured flesh hit his ears. The gun clattered out of her hand and Hawks could breathe again. Until he looked to the side. Dabi's body was laying almost completely limp, a pool of dark red around his chest.

Keigo felt the entire world give way. His legs moved forward robotically then collapsed under him. His lungs no longer seemed to work as he reached a hand out. A gun shot wound was clearer than anything else Hawks had seen that night. Dabi's face was slightly scrunched up pain and Hawks had no clue what he was going to do.

"No no no no no," Hawks's voice cracked as he placed a hand over the wound. The feeling of sticky hot blood made him nauseous. "Dabi, please..." Tears welled in his eyes, blurring his vision as he sat there.

A bloody and scarred hand reached up, gently touching Keigo's cheek.

"Kei," Dabi's tone was something Hawks had only heard a few times. He was scared.

"Baby, I'm right here. I'm gonna get you help ok?" He tried to keep his voice calm, like he did with injured civilians, but Dabi wasn't just a civilian. The hand started to drop, breathing slow and eyes start to shut.

"No! Dabi, Touya you have to stay with me here," Hawks's words were on the tone of desperate. Dabi turned his head just a little, a small smile on his face as he fully closed his eyes. Keigo felt like his own heart had been ripped out from his chest as he watched on the nonexistent rise of his boyfriend chest.

A scream escaped his lips as he held Dabi's body close to him. He cried harder than he ever had before. A pain he had never felt before was stabbing him, in his heart, in his head, in his eyes as he looked at his body.

"Please," He sobbed, "I need you."

Sirens wailed in the distance but he could care less. He ran his thumb gently across the staples and down the scarred cheek.

"I love you," His words were shaky as the sires grew closer. "I don't want to leave you. Please wake up." The last part as a whisper, a prayer to any god out there to help him.

He laid him down gently, softly kissing the side of his head as he stood on shaky legs. Blue and red flashing lights were all around him now. With a deep breath, he send his largest feathers to carry Dabi's body. Without another word, he shot up into the sky, his feathers following him.

Golden hair rippled around him as he keep flying. His phone had gone off several times but he refused to answer to Shigaraki right now. The sun was just barely peaking over the hill he was sitting at. Dirt had matted on his hands from the remains of the blood. Amber eyes looked at the grave he had made. There was never anyone around this hill so it had become their private meeting place for a while. It seemed fitting that Hawks would lay him to rest there.

The overturned dirt smell helped cover the stench of copper. Hawks stood up, face blank as he send the grave one last look before taking off again.

Fuck, he needed a drink.

Please leave some comments and kudos and I might consider bringing Dabi back.
